On the bright side, I made my own cold-brew coffee and it is SO GOOD. Even DH thinks it is better than Dunkin's, so they can stop taking all our money.
I got an insensitive comment the other day that I wanted to share. Was in our bedroom with doors closed, laying in bed covered up except for upper back and one boob but with my shirt off, while breastfeeding our 3 day old. MIL walks in and says "so you're going to be like an Amazon and walk around all day with no shirt on."

I would have been so so very angry. Seriously you come into my bedroom in my house and tell me how to behave? I'm very sorry. I hope you told her to shove it.
We face timed with DD this morning. She and I do this thing where I sing, "I love," and she sings back, "you" (like from skinamarink). It made me so happy for her to sing back to me and not try to hang up the call, like she often does with others.

MH is off work today and doing some stuff around the house. The last thing we needed to do for baby was physically set up the pack and play so he did that today. I was just texting with him about the position of it in our room and he made me LOL. I asked him about if the nightstand would fit next to it on my side of the bed so that we would have somewhere to put some of her clothes and the basket with diapers. He says "The shelf on the packnplay is good size some stuff can stay on it". Ummm, what shelf? (we got the one with the changing station, but no extra stuff). He was totally talking about the place where baby will sleep as the "shelf"!

Wow!! I would've been too taken aback to respond to that, but when I did.... Wow.
@suesposa Oh no! Hope it isn't too bad. Also, hope you are holding up okay. What is the hospital planning to do if you go into labor spontaneously before the due date? Still stunned that they canceled your induction.

Adorable! Is she excited about little brother? I think our Oct 14 little guy has no clue what is about to happen.

Hrm...she knows there is a baby in my belly that she likes to kiss and put lotion on, BUT she also thinks she, Daddy, grandmas, etc have babies in their bellies too. She does love holding babies and her baby doll, though I know that having a baby around all day everyday will be unexpected. Haha, get ready for 2 under 2 for a couple months...not sure how that will go for us, but it's gonna happen...

"Get the fuck out of my house" seems like an appropriate response.

Rogue - Holy shit, are you KIDDING me?!! Oh my, I don't even know what I would have sputtered out in that situation but I really hope you find a way to let her know just how out of line she was for making a comment like that.
So labor and delivery are imminent and we don't have a middle name decided yet. I'm such a planner and this is bothering me. All options we have I'm fairly indifferent to. Is it bad if I'm not like head over heels in love with a middle name but it works and is pretty nice?
@suesposa, it's nerve wracking to not know if your OB will be there when you're giving birth, but it should be fine either way, I hope. DD was small as well...she was 5 lbs 14 oz at 39 weeks, 2 days (I was born 5 lbs, 8 oz) and the only difference was her needing to get her blood glucose tested several times while at the hospital. LO is also expected to be smaller too. I hope his kidney issues are okay and don't require a NICU stay on top of everything else you've been going through! I'm not excited for our time at NICU to come.
redhead610 Naming is so hard. I wasn't head over heels with any part of our name, but it really has grown on me. It's ok if it just sounds nice, and no one really has to know that you feel indifferent.
Today was the first day our 2 yr old and newborn were in the car together. 2 yr old did great! Baby started crying and so 2 yr old and I sang songs to him. When newborn fell asleep 2 yr old tried to wake him up. I had to explain that babies need a lot of sleep and we need to leave him sleeping.
Do people always say the most inappropriate things to pregnant/new moms, or does this occur all the time and we're just not listening for it? It's unbelievable what comes out of some people's mouths!

Well... We're driving up to the hospital.... So that DH can get his TDAP vaccine 😩. Maybe baby will realize we're in the right place and labor will spontaneously begin?
@suesposa Aw, thanks! I've always leaned towards the wordy side, which my H thinks is annoying, haha.
Yup, appt at 1:15 CA time. Gonna try to walk this baby out a little more until then.
I'm impressed you are such a trooper with all the signs that baby boy should have been here weeks ago. Also, I'm proud of your strength in going this journey alone when you didn't originally plan for that. Excited for these little boys to come out.

I felt that way about DD2's middle name and now I adore it (and it turns out to suit her, which I could not have predicted in her first year of life).

That's how I feel about both of the middle name options we're considering - and TBH I'm not head-over-heels for the first name we currently have picked out, but DH and I have had a hell of a time agreeing on any names and nothing has sounded better than this one!
DD3 had an appointment this morning. They wanted her to have gained at least 2 ounces. She gained 6 ounces! So now she weighs 8 lbs 3 oz, almost back to birthweight.
She is so long though, she is already too tall for her newborn sleepers. I also had to switch her to size 1 diapers last week because the NB size were too short. So crazy to me.
More appts for SO this morning. DD was good but not the perfect angel she was on Saturday, and started melting down literally 5 minutes before SO was done at the dentist. Then he thought asking me "what, are you exhausted from watching her or something?" was a good idea and would get something other than a snarky reply. Yes, it wears me out trying to bend in half to wrestle a 2 yo! It hurts! My uterus does not like it! Plus I slept like crap last night, tyvm.
On the plus side, though it becomes administratively obnoxious because we have to update his paperwork with them once a month, SO is finally getting the whole dental shebang he has been putting off for years. And these dentists don't fuck around. They clean your teeth super well, they diagnose critical issues and things just to watch over time. They don't try to do extra work just because. I have been really happy with them so far.
Good luck all ya labor ladies! I could hope to join you guys, my current silly wish is for the 6th... SO's birthday! lol I am just grumpy about all the cramps I am getting. Doc appt tomorrow, probably nothing exciting. I think I will continue to not ask for cervical checks, though if he offers, I might have a moment of weakness.
- I was not aware that because I'm not as big as your wife that I'm not allowed to say that I feel big. I'll try to remember.
- I was not aware that because you didn't feel at maximum baby capacity at 37 weeks that I wasn't allowed to feel that way either. I'll try to remember.
- I did not know that since your child didn't kick your kidneys and it hurt that I wasn't allowed to mention it or believe it was happening. I'll try to remember.
In summary, I was not aware that being 37 weeks pregnant meant that I should not have any complaints because someone's mother's sister didn't feel that way. I'll try to remember that when you ask next time.
I realize now that you're really just asking a trick question and the only possible answer is "I'M GREAT!"

I am so jealous! At our weight check she only gained one ounce in 4 days. I've got to get her gaining better somehow.
joy I loathe the comparisons. We all deal differently. And there absolutely can be no comparisons, because each experience is individual and nobody else knows how it is except the person going through it. Irritates me so much.
