"Here you go, babysitter. We're going to be at a restaurant up the street. Bedtime is at 7. Here's a number you can reach us at. Feel free to eat any of our food. And if Little Johnny gets fussy, just stick your boob in his mouth. Thanks!"
I find the idea of homeschooling a little strange. I'm a teacher, but that doesn't mean I am qualified to teach my kid all of the required subjects. It kind of amazes me when parents homeschool their children when they don't have any teacher training of any kind. Just because you've been in school yourself, doesn't mean you are able to teach at the level of trained teachers.
I think a lot of that professional training is classroom-specific though. Teaching one or two children those subjects is a completely different process than 20+. It's not like most of the world sends their schoolteachers through the same training as the U.S. does anyway. Save

I have thought about homeschooling (like very distant wondering "Hm") but I don't think I would based on the reasons you listed. I have had almost no training in education. My H works in the school system and it would be a bit strange for him, I think, if I wanted to homeschool our kid. Like, what message are we sending to the district? For those same reasons, H would not support me putting E in private school (without a very good reason).
I'm rambling. I have zero qualifications to have an opinion on this but at first glance without any prior knowledge of homeschooling, etc- I agree w/ you.

Even with all that training, we're still behind a lot of developed countries. So, maybe we don't need to make it worse?
I'm afraid that I overestimated myself when deciding to TTC. Now that I'm pregnant I'm absolutely panicked at the idea of 2u2 and I'm 99% positive I can't handle it.

It's the wrong kind of training rather than not enough. But it's pretty well-established that many homeschooled children do very well. Save

Start a thread! Many have been there and can probably help build your confidence.

I've done 2u2 twice. It will be hard, but you absolutely can do it. Make sure you get several boxes of wine and you'll be set 😉
