teraiin, I promise I'm not saying this to make you feel better (lol).. but honestly, handling the wakeups was 29385478924738922x worse when I just had one kid. I went from nice glorious long nights of sleeping to being thrust into NOT sleeping. With DS, I basically went from waking up 1-2x night with DD to waking up 3-5x between the two of them, which really isn't much different.
On a side note, my old neighbor functions off not sleeping more than 1-hour at a time M-F, and has for the last 4 years. That idea is terrifying.
+1
You know the old saying, mom's lack of sleep begets lack of sleep. Kid number two motn wakes just aren't as tiring this go round, I think because I've been functioning in zombie mode for the past three years.
+2
It was an easier adjustment this time around than with DD. I can function on less sleep now.
We found out that DDs teacher had a small stroke. No idea what this means for the future but it makes me sad for her teacher and the class to think that she may not be back. She has been there for 16 years and the kids and parents all adore her.
I'm feeling defeated today... Ry has a cold and didn't sleep well last night. He's was in an okay mood this morning but since 1 has just been inconsolable his nose is so stuffed and he keeps coughing. Everytime he's eaten he has thrown up after ... I just got him settled down by swaddling, rocking and the sounds machine..... He doesn't even normally like swaddling.
At the portrait studio for DSs 3 month pics (I brought our own blanket, he won't get other kids sick!) and I'm pretty sure we're going to g et the same photographer. The one whose first day was our newborn photos. DNW him.
Oh and I'm glad my parents are coming over today. I can't keep up with DS and his energy today.
I hear ya! I need a vacation from the toddler so bad. He has been extra trying this last week and I have lost my patience with him much more than I would like.

k3am if you do end up needing the Tylenol children's and infants are the same concentration now (160mg/5mL) so its just a different amount you give.
Thanks everyone. DH went to visit him today. The friend who is staying with us is his brother. If anyone can beat it, it is him. Just hate it when medicine hits so close to home.

Howdy. I haven't been around much today. I went to barre class at noon which felt amazing. Otherwise I've been doing stuff around the house and watching Olympics. Go Canada!

oh no!!!!!! Newborn photos are NOT for novice photographers. It takes a lot of practice and patience and skill to pose a newborn. I may have to go back and see if you posted any in the Newborn photo thread cause I am curious now. Im guilty of judging other photogs work or comparing and harshly judging myself as well!!! lol. I just posted Islas photos.....im so a slacker.

KirstenAlecia - there are some in the thread. They're not good. I took some on my own that are better, but definitely not professional!
I wasn't expecting much from JCPenny for newborn photos, but they definitely underwhelmed.
Today's were better. Standard photo studio stock, but I can't justify the price of a real photographer.
YES.....YOU CAN justify the price of a real photographer!!!! lol. Photos are all you have once the time has past and the moments are gone! Ok thats how I justify it for me. It may not work for everyone. lol.
Honestly I understand. Its not like I make a lot of money. Its hard to swallow photo prices and I'M A PHOTOGRAPHER lol. It's not that I think photography is overpriced cause good photography is hardly ever overpriced (if you know what it takes to run a successful photography business you would totally agree ) But I agree its a luxury. For me its a luxury thats a priority. I want to leave it behind for my daughter when i am gone. I want her to be flooded with imagery to look back on that shows our wonderful lives and that she was loved and doted on and all that other good stuff. OK clearly I am passionate about it. lol. I will stop now....lol.
Although....I am super curious for anyone who wants to chime in who did JCP type portraits for their littles or any thing really if you go to them for say your yearly portraits. What is the average cost out the door and what do you get that would be a decent session and images. I always thought that they where likely pricey too if you were to get everything you wanted.
Im not gonna lie I paid a small fortune for Isla's newborn photos but I also went all out and got the biggest "package" she offered. but for just under a grand I had a 4 hour session that yielded around 46 images to which I got the digital files and can print myself. Now I would not normally pay that much but her newborns are a one time thing unlike family portraits. Also I am likely to be the one photographing her from here on out. I am super curious how vast the price point for a JCP photo session and that of a professional photographer.
I would consider night one in the crib a success. I'm pretty easy to please though... It hasn't been any different than the pack n play so that's a win. The biggest issue seems like h doesn't recognize where he is when he wakes up lol
KirstenAlecia for JCP, we pay a $30 sitting fee for the family good for two years and $4 a sheet for photos. We can get enough for our wall and family for <$30.
We did 3/6/9/12 month photos with DD and then annually after that plus family photos for the holidays. Well do the same for DS.

ETA: their prices haven't changed in the 17 years since I worked there. At all.

Ok so it is a lot cheaper. I think I thought they must be close if they charged for prints the same way other photographers charge.
But most photogs I know don't offer "sheets" cause the labs we go through don't offer that except in wallets. No way I could charge say $4 for an 8x10...I would lose money!
I will say this. While I may have spent a fortune on Islas newborn photos....to me, totally ok. I will likely be the one taking most of her photos from here on out!
