Do you have a specific time frame or goal for breastfeeding?

Given that I'm still nursing DS 1... lol! I'll nurse until one of us no longer wants to.

My overall goal is not ne year and then see how we are doing... I'm trying to focus on each successful month being a victory though

I'd like to make it at least a year. A month ago that goal felt ambitious, but since BFing has become enjoyable and W and I have a good rhythm going, I think we could make it over 12 months.

I plan to nurse as long as DS wants to. If that's 11 months, fine, 3 years, fine.

My goal is a year, but I will let her nurse as long as she wants or until I'm ready to be done. I nursed J to 18 months. By the time he weaned he was only nursing at bedtime.

A year minimally and would love to go longer but we want to expand our family and start trying when she's a year so I will stop breastfeeding if it interferes with conception.

Ds1 weaned at 3.5. I'd like this one to self wean too. Hopefully when I'm pregnant with #3.

My goal is 12-18mo of pumping at work. I will nurse until he weans. DS1 quit 10 days after his first bday. I also had to take domleridone for quite some time to keep up and would like to avoid that if possible.

DS BF until around 13 months but I stopped pumping at work at a year. I was kind of ready to be done and he was only nursing morning and night at that point. We just switched to a snuggle and a story and he never asked for it so I guess he self weaned?

With DD I definitely plan to BF and pump for a year and after that we'll take it day by day.

DS1 decided he was done 10 days after his first birthday and at that point, pumping at work was only getting more challenging so I also stopped. Given his food reactions to all things dairy, I wish I had kept pumping once/day or twice/day a little longer.
This time, I'll again let DS2 wean at his own pace. I will pump for a minimum of a year at work (to his first b-day). Once he stops breastfeeding, I may pump a little longer depending on what we have stashed in the freezer at that point. I would love to make it to 18mo!

Domperidone is a GI med and as a side effect, it can boost milk supply. It's not easy to obtain in the USA. If she gets a prescription for it, she will need a compounding pharmacy to make it. And it is $$$. It's pretty widely used in Europe and South America. I had easy access to it bc I went to Brazil and stocked up.

+1. I stopped pumping at 1 year exactly and can't remember when she stopped, but it was easy for her and me.

I have info on how to get domperidone without a script and for fairly cheap from overseas if she's interested. Not everyone is comfortable with that though I know.

Yeah, yet another way the FDA makes things difficult for nursing moms!!!! Instead the option here is reglan and its AWFUL side effects....

Low supply--> reglan --> depression/anxiety --> Zoloft.....
Big pharma at work!!

My provider won't provide domperidone or reglan. I'm not sure if it's just my kaiser facility or all kaisers in general.

Yes Reglan's side effects scare the shit out of me.  I'm not willing to risk it for a supply increase.

My goal is 12-18 months. I pumped at work for 11.5 months with DD. We continued to nurse until she was about 15 months. I didn't have any cycles at all until I completely weaned.

My goal is a year. That's what it was with DD and we made it 8 months. As long as I can make 6 months, I'll be happy. I really hope to go a year but I'm afraid with pumping at work I'll get burnt out. So we will see. I'm working on a good freezer stash though so I can hopefully at least have bottles of milk for him until a year.

One year. That's how long I breastfed my son too. I'm not one of those moms that loves breastfeeding, but do it for the health benefits.

in a perfect world i'd like to make it to 1 year, but I'm trying to take it day by day so i won't be too hard on myself if things don't work out as planned. I haven't had the biggest supply so i am concerned about it tanking when i go to work or when i travel or for a number of reasons so i am trying to be realistic that i may need a back up plan.

Well my goal was 1 year until the MSPI diagnosis. But now I'll be weaning over the next few weeks. I'm sad for sure but also am thinking of all the ways my life will be easier.
