So I have been having achy legs and feet since 1st tri, but the last couple nights at the end of the day I've looked down at my feet and suddenly I have cankles. Awesome.
You can barely see my inner ankle bones, though my outside ones are still sorta there. Also, all my shoes have been leaving indent marks on my poor swollen feet. I thought this kind of swelling didn't show up until 3rd tri. Ugh.
Anyone else experiencing swelling? Should I be concerned? My BP has been very low at all my appts so far.
With DS1, I had zero swelling. So when it showed up with DS2, I was like WTH! My feet and lower part of my legs were a little bit swollen. Of course it started after I flew for a weekend trip to go to a couple concerts and on my feet ALL weekend. Anyway, I found this info helpful then.
I think you've mentioned it's pretty hot where you are. Hopefully you get some relief soon. Although I found the swelling during pregnancy was NOTHING compared to post delivery. Eeeek! I hope it's not as bad this time for me.

emilie, I have had ridiculous cankles since about week 16. They used to go down at night, but now I think I've reached a permanent state. I too have had only low BP, so my doctor basically said it was par for the course with pregnancy. Unfortunately mine have been getting increasingly painful so I think I'm going to get some compression socks and start wearing those at night. Only relief I get now is from elevating my feet.
I haven't experienced much swelling this pregnancy at all. I had a little after driving DS to and from camp each time because I sat in the car for so long. Both times it was gone by the next morning.
With my first 2 pregnancies I was a hot mess of swelling. My calves just went straight down. With DD, my left ankle swelled up to twice the size of my right. It was kind of nuts.

Cankle solidarity! I haven't seen my ankles for quite some time. Which sucks because I'm living in capris since it's so GD hot here. But yeah, I'm going with it's just one of those things we have to deal with as long as your BP is good and your urine samples at OB appointments are all normal.
I hope it might get better once it's not so flipping hot. If not, it'll get better once he's born, right? (RIGHT??) lol

emilie, ugh, no fun! I didn't experience swelling until the last two weeks with DS. Some people experience it earlier, some later, some never at all. However, if I did have a day where I was very active, I was more likely to have swollen fingers/ankles that night. I would just put my feet up and avoided anything salty and the swelling was gone by morning.
As long as your BP is in normal range, this is nothing to be worried about. Just one of the many joys of pregnancy!
I'm hoping the heat has something to do with it. I've noticed that my hand swelling comes and goes based on how long I spend outside, how hot it is, how much salt I'm having, etc. My feet are a little swollen by the end of the day, but still going back to normal by morning so far. We'll see how that continues...
I had major cankles around 30 weeks with G.... they were so swollen that I was paranoid about having HBP. I'll have to dig up a picture!
I remember a few days after I had her, I was just looking at my ankles and thinking how AWESOME they looked.... they were so skinny, I could see my ankle bones and wear shoes without my feet puffing over the sides of the sandal straps. I kept telling DH to look at my ankles and he didn't really get the excitement. LOL
