We're thinking of putting one in, once we move in October. Anyone have thoughts on brands? I've looked at Rainbow, which are really expensive - are they worth it? And some at Costco (like Gorilla) that are more reasonable, but seem to have mixed reviews...

I'll double check later when we go out but I'm fairly positive ours is rainbow. I can't say too much because we just got it this year but it definitely seems well made. Winter will be the true test but it's held really well in a few bad storms. Plus it seems sturdy when I'm on it with her.
Are you talking about a swing set of something else? We went with a simple swing set from Wal-mart. It was around $100 and is perfect for DD right now. We'll get a fancier one when the girls are older.
pearlvirus That's amazing! How old are you kiddos again?
28 months and 9 months, lol.... By the time they get to use it they'll be 1.5 and 3 and they are both very physical/active. I'm thinking we'll wait until the snow thaws (MN so maybe April or May?) Maybe we can call it a birthday present for the older (late March birthday).
I like the wooden ones in general over the metal. My old one (wooden) still gets used (we sold it, but I see it while driving). We bought LO's used, again wooden. No idea the brand of his, but I think mine was a major brand (the fabric has been long gone, but otherwise it has withstood over 20 years of similar weather to MN).
I do not know how to add pictures but we have a wooden one. It has a wooden roof over the clubhouse, 2 swings, and a glider. We ordered it from local Mennonites that build, deliver, and install them. I think we paid $1,100 total?
My neighbors have the rainbow one you posted and it's but the cover came off very easily. The rainbow ones were way out of our budget.

DH doesn't want us to get one because he says we need wood chips or rubber or it's dangerous and if other kids get hurt we might get sued...and we don't really want to replace part of the yard with that because we like our yard... I can't imagine spending tons either...my kids get sick of a park if we go more than a few times so I feel like perhaps it will just be played with one day and then not much after, although perhaps not. There are some Amish ones that look cool--but in the 3K range..
We have a cedar one made by Backyard Discovery from Home Depot. It was a floor model that typically retailed for $1800, but we bought the floor model for an even $500. We had to take it apart and transport it ourselves, but it's made very nicely... I'd recommend a play set made by Backyard Discovery. (I'd also recommend getting one on the larger side so you get longer use out of it, especially if you also have younger children.)
