What have your doctors been telling you about Zika? I went outside this morning and got a mosquito bite. Google says my state has 32 cases of Zika all from folks who traveled to South America, so I guess the threat isn't too great here.

I asked my OB before I got pregnant. She said because it's not in my state yet, to just wear bug spray (with deet) and cover up.
Deet is recommended for pregnant women but hasn't been studied well, particularly in the first tri. Honestly, it freaks me out a little. But Zika freaks me out more.

Doctor said to stay in doors if I can, use bug spray w/deet if I am outside during dawn/dusk. I live in FL, but not in South FL where the non travel cases are popping up. I am trying not to freak. It's hard.

I just spend $17 on organic bugspray last night. It's all essential oils and honestly I'm nervous for how it will even work. Last night it was fine I was just in the pool for a few minutes before it started to rain but I am going to Florida in September.
Thanks for this! I read somewhere that lemon eucalyptus (the ingredient in the one that's second most effective) isn't recommended for young children or pregnant women. I could be totally full of shit, but just wanted to pass along to do your research before going "natural." I'm reluctantly doing deet and can't wait until fall when those buggers DIE.

We were just talking about this Last night. DH wants to go to Mexico to an air bnb surf spot. But I'm like wigging out about it because I remember it being on the list a while ago.

I have a work trip to Mexico booked and I don't want to cancel it so I'm coming up with all of the ways around cancelling.
