ugaqueencity others have said it but I will say it too. It's so easy to travel with a newborn! Just wear them until take off and then feed them as you start to land. We flew with Clara 3 times when starting about 12 weeks - 6 months and each time she was out before we took off and then woke up right at touchdown. Flying with a toddler is so much harder!

Sorry about all the Mondayness of this Monday - I hope the rest of our days all go smoothly!
I am feeling badly about not having told my boss yet. I still want to wait until I've had the first ultrasound next week - I think that makes a lot of sense and it feels more comfortable to me. But plans for our projects this spring keep coming up, and I'm feeling like I'm lying at this point (for instance, agreeing to a spring site visit schedule when I know I'll be out or too far along to fly). It's only 1 more week at least.

ugaqueencity I am with kaits8 - I would probably bail (or step down and attend as a guest) for all but the best of friends. But I'm a worrier who also doesn't really love weddings so it wouldn't take much for me to bow out.
I would talk to the bride about allowing for time for you to go nurse or pump or help with baby the day of the wedding. I know sometimes there's a lot for the bridal party to do and I would want to make sure the bride and I had the same expectations/vision for what that might look like. I would also really make sure baby will be welcome. Most of my friends have child-friendly weddings, but I've been to a few where kids (including babies) weren't invited. I think that would be really tough at that age, although I had a friend attend a wedding while her DH was just at the hotel with the baby all night. So it can be done in the event that were the case.
So we just got a very rough estimate on our basement (formal estimate will take another few days at least; this is our friend's side job), but it sounds like it may cost within what I estimated after all! Yay!! So hopefully by the end of the year (it all depends on how quickly we can put the cash aside) we will have a fully child proof room where I can sit and relax while DD (and eventually baby #2) can play safely!

+1 to the crazy dreams. My most frequent dream is going away to college, though the circumstances are always different. In the latest edition I was sharing a room with my college boyfriend and he got me kicked out of school when I told him I was pregnant. I already had my son though. And I was looking at my son trying to figure out who the father was---my husband or college boyfriend. My husband is brown and our son is his clone. College boyfriend was blonde, blue eyed and pasty.
we are having all the windows in our house washed today. I'm so excited to see the results when I get home. (and this is how I know I've become a boring adult....)

I spoke too soon on not feeling sick today in the check-in thread and out loud to the guy that works for me. I was starving until about 3pm and are pretty much nonstop but now not even these damn jolly ranchers that I bought specifically for nausea sound good.
ugaqueencity I'm late to the party on this one. But if it was me, I would probably step down as MOH becuase of how close the date was and try to come as a guest. What if you're a week late? What if you have a C-section and need the 6 weeks recovery time? You just don't know how it will go down. I think it's good to think of all angles though and prepare your friend for the possibilities.

We had the first test of the new walkway and drainage work. Mostly good but they need to come back out. Water flows down the side but doesn't flow into the front so it looks still. Windows were safe though and no flooding into the basement which is a big win!
I'm kind of panicking, I just talked to my best friend and she booked her wedding for exactly 6 weeks after my due date. I don't want to be the super special snowflake lady who makes everything about my baby, but the thought of flying with a newborn is giving me so much anxiety. And having to wear a bridesmaids dress that soon after birth, I'm working on accepting that I'll be a puffy mess in the pictures but this is going to be rough
It may be better than you think! My sister's wedding was 9 weeks after my due date and I was totally fine and baby slept a lot of the trip. Also, my best friends wedding was 4 days before I gave birth and I was MOH - now that was fun...
Sorry I'm posting and running... but WE GOT THE HOUSE and I found a preschool! H didn't read all the fine print of his transfer and they will pay for our Uhaul AND a chunk of $ for miscellaneous expenses. He thought it was just the chunk of $. Score! I made our reservation for next week's hotel stay and got a deal by dropping his company's name and giving them contact info for their relocation department. Wahoooooo! I am on cloud 9!
H and I went to Lowes (all alone!!!) to check out washers and dryers and while it is nice to dream of the fancy ones, we've btdt and decided on a middle of the line pair with less electronics to go bad. I am happy with our choice and am excited to see how sales are for it on Labor Day.
Now if I didn't have a head cold I would of had a perfect day!
