We bought the uppababy vista in navy and a maxi-cosi mico max 30. The car seat is so lightweight (the reason we were leaning towards it) and the stroller is perfect to grow with baby from newborn to toddler. And is convertable for 2 kids should we have another down the road:)
Me too: exactly! Uppababy Vista in navy with a Maxi Cosi Mico! I love the Uppababy Vista but this is the first year it's being sold in Australia so no one else I know has even seen it. I think it's miles ahead of anything else on the market. Everyone here gets the Buggaboo Cameleon, but it doesn't convert to a double so I think the Uppababy Vista is the perfect solution seeing as I'm a FTM and want to make sure I can fit another if they're close together. Can't wait to pick it up! The capsule for the car fits so easily it seems like the perfect choice between bassinet, seat and capsule for different needs.
Question: For those of you getting full-size strollers, are you also purchasing a lightweight/umbrella stroller? STMs, any insight?
I don't have one and can't think of a time where I would really use it. We take our full size to the park, the mall, the zoo and just to get from point A to point B around town. Where I could see needing one is if you did a lot of traveling. You would want something easy to get on and off a plane and something compact to fit in the car for long trips. Otherwise, I say it's not a necessity, at least not for our life style.

We were given a McLaren umbrella stroller, used maybe 5x, by a friend. We may or may not ever use it, but I will gladly accept the gift! If we hadn't gotten this, we probably would've bought a cheap one if/when we travel or something.
We went with the Graco fast action fold with click connect 30. I found it was lightweight and I liked the price point. I played with the Britax and I wasn't impressed.

We don't have a car and we walk everywhere. Therefore we will be using the stroller every day (hopefully I will be out of the house daily). We are going with the bugaboo and then a uppababy gluxe umbrella.
The full size is just not practical for collapsing into a zipcar but we figure most of the time we will use the full size.

We're doing the Britax B-safe carseat and the Bob Motion stroller. I got the Bob already (there was a sale) and it is so easy to collapse and put up. I have an old Graco stroller that will be the "airport stroller" for when we travel, it actually held up well with my son despite tons of abuse.

STM- we very rarely (I can probably count on both hands) the number of times we actually used the travel system stroller. We got a The First Years stroller when LO was 3.5-4 months old when we were getting ready to travel (he had great head control at this point) and that's been our primary stroller. We wore LO a lot (Ergo) or just carried the infant carrier in/out of places.
As far as car seats go this time we haven't decided what we want to get. The infant carrier was very convenient. We do have a 2nd convertible car seat (we keep 1 in my vehicle and 1 in DHs at the moment) that we could use for the new baby.
I would recommend to anyone that's thinking of getting the infant carrier and a convertible to wait closer until you'd be using the convertible to purchase that one so that you have a longer time before it expires.
We went with the Britax B-Safe and the BOB Revolution. I was able to find a sale on both last month. I did register for a lighter, smaller stroller - the Chicco capri lightweight.
We have registered for the Britax B-Safe/B-Agile as well. I noticed that it is currently $50 off and free shipping from Babies R Us- for any of the rest of you that are interested. We decided on this system because of the safety ratings, ease of use, and because it is only 17 lbs.

Is it last year's model or the new one? I think the only difference is the base for the carrier/seat. Last year's is currently $290 on Amazon and I found the new version for $336 (on Amazon as well) with Prime shipping, which is still a huge discount from the usual $440 price tag.

I am pretty sure it is the new model. That is what we were told at Babies R Us, anyway

Yea you're right. They don't have the old model at BRU. I wonder why it's still on Amazon!
We have a graco travel system that has the Graco Snugride 30 from our first, that we'll just reuse. We just purchased an extra base at that time too, so we had just the one infant carrier/carseat.
When we traveled it was nice that we could use that in the car without a base too, and it was really easy to install with just the seatbelt.
The stroller is kind of bulky but I LOVE it and I used it until we moved (J is 2.5) because it's so smooth and easy to maneuver. We have a small scale stroller for her now too but I don't like it as much.

We already have a Graco Click Connect 35 from DD, so think we'll just go with the Graco Stand and Ride to go with it. That will give us plenty of options until this baby is at least a year old. (But I also plan to wear this baby most of the time when we go out.)

We registered for the Chicco KeyFit 30 and Chicco Bravo travel system...
A side question, we travel quite a bit and hope that doesn't change too much when baby is here... have any STMs felt the luggage bags/covers for travelling on planes (ie: to check your items) to be necessary beneficial... I was thinking of getting them so they don't get trashed when they leave my possession with flight personal and plus, germ protection! Thoughts?

I used a car seat travel bag when I flew with with my infant seat and I would recommend it. There was snag/small hole in the bag upon getting it back and I'm glad whatever caused it didn't catch on the actual seat. It also made it easier to carry it along with all my other luggage since it has a handle and wheels. With a stroller, you'll most likely just gate check it so you wouldn't need a bag.
Some people don't think you should check car seats because of the banging around they go through during transport, so the opinions on this are mixed.
We went with a Britax B-Safe and B-Ready. Amazon had an amazing prime deal just after Christmas, so we got both items plus a bassinet attachment for the stroller at close to 50% off. When I registered the items, the manufacture dates were in late fall of 2014, so it's possible our stuff is last year's model. But, for the incredible price, I'm happy with what we got! Also I had a question right away, and the Britax customer service was pretty awesome and helpful. We also thought about UppaBaby - the Cruz and then the Mesa car seat. However, given that babies only use the bucket seats for maybe a year to 18 months, we decided to pick a great safe option at a lower price point so we can splurge on the convertible seat that will get used for the next several years. I highly recommend reading the blog The Car Seat Lady. That plus Consumer Reports helped with so much info/comparative reviews.
The B-Ready stroller is a little bigger than I expected, but it's pretty lightweight and easy to maneuver, even with full hands. DH likes the adjustable handle...given that I'm only 4'11" he needs it much taller than I do!

We very rarely travel with the stroller. Honestly, and I know I am the odd man out here, I find strollers in airports to be a giant PITA. Between the unpacking and repacking through security, the risk of damage even if gate checked, and trying to maneuver it, I'm much happier without. In 3 years I think we have brought it with us once.
Usually we babywear through the airport (in fact, I doublechecked the other night to make sure I can still carry the kid in the front while pregnant since we're flying this weekend). That way I can be hands free, and you don't have to worry about security, they don't even make you take the kid off, just waltz through and get your hands wiped for any suspicious residue.
We have a backpack bag for the carseat, which makes it really easy to carry through to the gate. We always use the carseat on the plane, so we don't check it. Having the backpack style cover makes it easier to travel solo too -

Love your pic!! I also baby wore at the airport, but I didn't need a stroller at my destination. I suppose you would want to check one if you did and in that case, I would say use a travel bag. I had to take my baby out of the carrier through security though, which was annoying since I was by myself. Still easier than a stroller though

We went to buybuyBaby today and got to test drive strollers! I was so excited to try out the Britax B-Agile that I've read so much about. Once DH realised that it was so hard to steer because the front wheel was locked straight (facepalm-I knew about that feature and I just forgot) it was much more manoeuvrable and smooth. Really a joy to drive. I got to share what I learned from Lucie's List with a guy who was in the market for a double stroller, which was fun. They also had the B-Agile 3 travel system so I got to see the differences between the old and new one. It does seem that the new one is easier. In addition to the changes in the base which has level and allows you to adjust the tilt of the seat, the seat belt notches (in case you want to use it without the base) are easier to access and the seat itself is noticeably lighter to carry. Not a huge difference in weight, but I could tell it was maybe a pound or two lighter. I got to try taking it out of and putting it into both the base and stroller, and folding the stroller up. It was all pretty easy once I figured out what I was doing. I tried a few others as well just for comparison, but I still like the Britax best. It was nice to get some hands-on experience with it!
Btw, the guy in the store said they already have a car seat frame and a regular stroller and now they have to buy a tandem. Made a strong argument in favour of a travel system like Britax, in my opinion.
Edit: strong argument. Not string. My tablet is ridiculous because I KNOW I corrected that at least once. smh
