In other news, I found the heartbeat on my Doppler today! I'm only 8ish weeks so I really wasn't expecting to find it, but there it was. I love that sound.
That is amazing! My OB couldn't find either HB via Doppler at my 11 w appt.
My OB doesn't even try until 12 weeks. I just got really lucky!
caer, love my doppler! I swear I found baby's HB for a few seconds today..but I'll just be 8 weeks tomorrow so I'm going to just assume I'm wrong. I've been trying daily this week, only b/c I found DD's HB at 8w exactly. It was really reassuring last time, but I'm sure if I don't definitely find the HB this time until a bit later I'll start panicking a bit!

I didn't find it until 10 weeks last time. Keep trying but don't freak out! The baby is still so tiny and super low at this point and will be for awhile!
I think it really depends. I used it throughout my pregnancy with DS and found it really reassuring but I also was always able to find the heartbeat very easily. I've heard stories of people not being to find the heartbeat because of position of baby/placenta, so I could see how it would make the anxiety worse for some people.
Yeah I think if I couldn't find the heartbeat I wouldn't be able to a chill person and say "oh, I probably just can't find it, but I'm sure everything is fine" haha. I'd be calling my OB like a crazy person and they would probably ask me to give them the doppler.
I really want a doppler, but would probably turn into a crazy person. I'd be calling my OB if I couldn't find it or I'll be listening to the heartbeat all the time ignoring life if I did find it...no winning. Haha. My placenta last time made it hard to find the heartbeat so I'm thinking I'll wait a bit with this one to make a decision.
Most people at my work know already since I was out for the surgery. It's nice that I don't have to hide things, but it's also very strange that my coworkers know when we haven't told most family yet. I can't imagine being a teacher though and trying to hide it from students.
I just realized that I have to figure out if/when to tell the school I'm subbing at. It's a small town, and once we start telling friends/family, it'll be out there. Since I'm just an occasional sub, I don't feel like it's quite as big of a deal, it's an extremely low key type of situation at the school.
Doppler update: I take back what I said about being wrong earlier. I just gave it one more try and, without a doubt, found baby's HB! 3 different times! I was even able to take a short video on my cell phone and send it to DH Woo!
Also, I ordered pizza (buffalo chicken ranch mmm) for dinner..and got fried ravioli with it. I ate all the ravioli and threw out the box (like all the way to the outside trash) so my H won't know. Oops..!
