Congrats on getting to this point. That is some real dedication to pump for so long! Will you still be nursing while you are home or are you going to wean completely? I wouldn't go from nursing on demand round the clock to nothing. You don't want to risk getting mastitis. If it's just while you're gone at work, that might not be as bad. Can you cut back on nursing at home over the next few days during what will be your work hours?
If it were me, I would bring the pump on the first day just in case you are dying. Only pump enough to relieve the pressure and pain. Or you could also manually express some milk.
I hope the transition back to work goes smoothly. When do you head back? Good luck!
I think every person/with every kid it varies. When I stopped pumping with DD I gradually reduced the amount of pumps per day and I was engorged the first few days. It wasn't painful, just uncomfortable and my boobs were very sensitive. With DD, I just stopped. I think I cut down my pumps over like 2 days but I had NO engorgement whatsoever. I'm pretty sure I was drying up this time around anyways, so that may have contributed to it, but either way it was much easier this time around compared to DD.
