Hoping to leave the piranhas at home with DSD for a couple of hours today so I can get some driving practice in with DH (hello, my name is elvenqueen, I am almost 28 years old and I cannot legally drive). We are still kind of in nap transition stage, the part where we've successfully eliminated the second nap, but they are exhausted and fussy because of the longer awake periods. Fun times!
Oh I love Aldi for a budget. Their prices for organic dairy and produce can't be beat. Our shopping list goes through Aldi first, then Costco, then Target. PSA Aldi has double carts! But you need a quarter to use them (you get it back). I just keep one in my car.
Speaking of double carts, why the hell doesn't BBB have them?!
@feegan, I'm manning the customer support email for their new online shop. So far it's way more work than expected but exactly the type of work I was looking for!

H goes back to school/work in a week and a half. My grandma has offered to pay for a babysitter or mother's helper for either 3 hours a day for 6 weeks, or 6 hours a day for 3 weeks (or some similar combo).
What do you think - more help a day for less time, or less help for a longer duration?
H's schedule changes day to day but some days he may be home for part of the day.
bocaburger, how often are they eating? Is there a really crappy time of day? I'd try to time it so your help could be around for 2 feedings, and a time when you could at least attempt to nap/sleep in/go to bed early
ETA I had a mothers helper for 4hrs once a week. Any shorter and i felt like we just got in the swing of things when she was ready to go (but she was really young). I really would have liked 2-3 times a week, on bath nights, but I don't think I would have wanted/needed every day (but MH was home until they were 4 weeks old then part time for a few weeks after and I had friends and family dropping off food and relieving me for an hour here and there. And a construction zone, so tight quarters where I wouldn't have wanted too many people around, so take my experience with a grain of salt

The really crappy time is 12-3am, but I suspect it will be hard to find someone for those hours! :-P They eat every 2-3 hours. I guess morning is probably the hardest time because I need hands free to get myself ready for the day.

In all seriousness, I know a LOT of twin moms hire a night nanny.

A night nanny? How come no one told me that existed?!?!?!?!? Lol.
We looked into it seriously and interviewed a few because it was really popular to use them in the area we were living at the time. Even though my ILs offered to pay, we couldn't stomach taking them up on their generous offer.... It was $45 an hour with an 8 hour per night minimum 😳😳😳

That is insane. I never looked into it but I have to believe that varies regionally? Because I KNOW some of these people couldn't afford that rate.

Oh for sure schmella. We were in one of the highest COL areas, if not the very highest, in the US. Many people didn't bat an eye at that, which blows my mind.
How did we not know this about you @elvenqueen?! Also, please feel free to AW how you did the transition to one nap. Mine are still very happily taking two and I'm terrified of the transition when it's time.
AFM I had the grand opening date wrong and arrived at Aldi's yesterday a few days early. Womp womp. We'll try again on Thursday.
Eek only seeing this now, sorry!
I'm the youngest of 4, so by the time I got to driving age, neither parent was very inspired to get me learning. I got my learners license at 16. It expired at 18, lol. I got my learners in England at 19, and I was kind of learning over there but I had to learn on stick (everyone drives stick...) and on the wrong side of the road, so it was slow-going. Renewed my Canadian learners back in February of this year and I've been practicing every weekend. I'm going to be late to the POM milestone of taking twins out by myself because I've never been able to except for walks!
As for naps. E has been defying 2 naps since 11 months. I finally gave in just after their birthday. It meant she'd go straight to sleep at bedtime. A wasn't showing as many signs of readiness as her except a little trouble getting to sleep, but I tried him out on one nap a few times just out of a desire to keep them on the same schedule. 2 weeks for him to be able to manage that, I think. They do get pretty tired and fussy now before their one nap and before dinner/bedtime, but it's manageable, and I'm sure in a couple months everything will be settled. It's more of a shock on ME, as I was used to having two breaks a day, and now I have to scramble around doing everything in one 1.5-2hr slot. It's exhausting! But definitely not as scary as I first thought it'd be.
We were TFAS but didn't really expect it to happen since we struggled with IF for 4 years and conceived our twins with IVF but here we are nonetheless! We are excited and scared.
Our boys will be just over 2 when I deliver in May. I'm feeling all the things but know we can do it! It'll be a lot of work but 3u3 here we come!

After trying 5 different sippy cups and resorting to squirting water into her mouth, we FINALLY found one that W will take more than a sip from... She drank like 4oz of water at dinner last night and freaks out when we take it away. I'm wondering if it's laced with crack or something...
