Oh this is a new form of BSC. All this article does is loosely (and laughably) suggest that a larvicide that causes birth defects in mosquitos is somehow causing microcephaly in humans. And the larvicide isn't even manufactured by Monsanto but Sumitomo Chemical. 

This is my favorite part:

"Pyriproxyfen is a relatively new introduction to the Brazilian environment; the microcephaly increase is a relatively new phenomenon. So the larvicide seems a plausible causative factor in microcephaly"

OMFG there is a DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CORRELATION AND CAUSATION, PEOPLE!

The sad thing is there is no convincing them that they are wrong. They choose to ignore science and medical research in favor of blog posts, conspiracy theories, and Jenny Mccarthy. They are lacking in logic and common sense so you get nowhere with them. I have no problem ostracizing them from society.

Part of what makes me so angry is that their making these decisions on behalf of their children. It's not the kids' fault that their parents are morons, but they're the ones who may suffer.

I am on a mainstream local facebook group where people ask things like "what is this rash?" and "where can my 11 year-old get her eyebrows waxed?" But someone says, "my kid is starting preschool, has not had vaccinations, and I'm looking for recommendations on a doctor who can help us develop a schedule." Tons of people recommended doctors who supported their efforts of not vaccinating, the Sears schedule, and other ways to go to school without getting vaccinated. I thought maybe she just hadn't taken her in or something, so I said, I would just ask to get them as quickly as possible since she's going to be exposed to a lot of germs at school and you have 2 infants at home... I was nearly kicked out of the group for being "judgey" in a "safe space," and the thread turned into a total bashing session about how every mom is a good mom and how dare I tell someone how to parent. Then she gets on, says, "vaccines kill too!" and deletes the thread, then starts a new one about how hurt she was by one judgey mom in the group and how she hoped to ask questions in a safe space and never in her life has she experienced such judgement...

Do not engage. They are crazy. You won't convince them.

Yeah, I just about left, but they also post all kind of events around town...so I decided to stick it out.  I just hope my kids' vaccines are effective, because apparently half the town doesn't vaccinate.  One of the people posting in the owner of one of the 2 baby stores in town... Heaven help us if clueless moms go in asking about cloth diapers and walk out convinced their newborn shouldn't have vaccines.

But not vaccinating goes against all science and logic and it quite dangerous. I cannot respect that choice.

My H's aunt once told me via fb comment (I posted an article about a kid who died because of the mumps and how ridiculous it was that this was happening) that I couldn't have an opinion on vaccines because I didn't have kids yet. I told her that it was a public health issue so I definitely could. I also pointed out the hypocrisy of that argument from someone like her who is pro life, since an overwhelming majority of lawmakers don't have uteruses but still feel they can legislate reproductive rights, and she's cool with that.

Since she no longer had any real arguments, she went below the belt with personal attacks after that, so, I have written her off as batshit ever since.

And how much you want to bet that some of those same people who don't want to be judged for not vaccinating would be all judgey about not breastfeeding (or not eating organic, or sleep training, etc).

100% agree. Someone in a group I'm in was asking about sleep training and one of the responses was that CIO causes SIDS.
