Perhaps there is a legitimate reason why this child has not been vaccinated.
She had the benefit of my doubt until she talked about "shedding".
That was my initial reaction, but then she talked about how she was mostly concerned with live vaccines. Even though there is probably not much of a risk there, I can imagine if I had an immunocompromised kid I would probably be extra cautious. But anyhoo bluebird stalked her and yada yada yada.

It's not worth your time to argue with that kind of crazy. Like pp said, put her on a post-it and shun her and any other crazies who reveal themselves.
Actually, I was being TIC. So strange to fear that her child will become infected with a preventable disease, yet take no steps to prevent it. It seemed equally rational to suggest that she was afraid he might be accidentally vaccinated.
bluebird44 , it kind of sounds like you're looking for a fight. I mean, if that's what you want, go for it.
Nah, I'm just being a little dramatic. The post just got me riled up after the excellent earlier thread discussing vaccines here, and it literally shocks me that people actually believe this junk.
Oh was there another recent vaccine thread here? I missed that one.
I generally can try and respect other opinions on most things even if I really disagree with them. My hard line is anti vaxxers. Sorry, you are wrong. Full stop. Do not pass go, do not collect $200.
For years, I battled this battle and even lost a few "friends" over it...but, now I just basically look at anti-vaxxers like they're the biggest kind of idiot on the planet and make a mental note to avoid them and their offspring as much as possible.
Okay I will say, there has been evidence that some vaccines, like rotavirus or MMR, can indeed "shed" but if anything, it would be the attenuated form of the virus used in the vaccine.
I obviously can fucking not with this person.
From what I understand, you have to lick someone to give them rotavirus-shed. Not just be in the same room as them.

We were told to wash our hands very well when changing ds's diaper.
This "washing hands well after diapers because of rotavirus shed" thing must be new since my kids were babies, because I never received that information. Of course, I do wash my hands well after wiping anyone's poop, so there is that.

This sounds... interesting? How does the wi-fi make them sick?
"Electromagnetic hypersensitivity". Apparently they are extra super sensitive to radiofrequency radiation and it gives them headaches, heart palpitations, causes them anxiety, etc. They even said it interfered with their pacemakers. So we couldn't use our cell phones during our huge union meeting because the radiation from our phones accessing the wi-fi network would hurt them.
Except there's no proof it does any of that. Because that doesn't make any real sense and the WHO did all kinds of studies on it.
So basically we all kept using our phones anyway. And they kept bringing it up every day that their "human rights were being violated" because we weren't respecting their disability. It... was a gong show.
ETA: I learned a lot about EHS and RF radiation last week. Essentially some people do suffer those effects but they are not caused by the radiation; rather, they are psychosomatic. So people do get sick, but they're making themselves sick, it's not the wi-fi or cell phones or aaaanything else. These conversations did not go well. I did not engage.
