redandblue, that sounds like a night terror. I'm sorry. I'm unfortunately a veteran in dealing with these. I take him into a well lit room and wake him up. It's the only thing to make the thrashing and screaming stop
Last day of having all three at home all day! DS1 starts K tomorrow! DS2 starts preschool next week.
Thanks. That is what we ended up doing when we realized he wasn't actually awake. It was not fun all around. FX it doesn't become something that happens regularly.

th3stryck3r that is so adorable! Hopefully you can get it on video we don't do a CSA but we so something called theproducebox we can pick from a variety of different boxes each week. The prices range from about 25-35 a week, and it is definitely not enough produce for the week. So your way sounds better...
Took both kids to the park this morning. They had a good time, but all the slides were wet so my toddler ran around with a wet butt most of the time. I also cut things a little short because it was so freaking humid. But John made a new friend while we were there, which I'm hoping bodes well for the start of preschool in a few weeks.
hiimjamie HBD J! Lol his name always makes me smile since it's so similar to my H's first and last name.
redandblue, poor baby. I think E gets those once in awhile. Sometimes she wakes up just screaming normally and sometimes her screams are pure terror and I shoot out of bed and she's just laying there still with her eyes shut. She usually wakes up when I pick her up though. It's heartbreaking.
Nothing planned for today. Going to Ikea to get a shoe cabinet for our foyer because I'm over shoes EVERYWHERE. E also like shoes so we need to keep them away from her.
We went hiking in the mountains yesterday, only did about 1 mile though. So many creek crossings over slippery rocks and I was wearing running shoes, not hiking shoes, with E on my back. Way too nerve wracking. Also, hiking in wet socks sucks. Will attempt again when I have proper hiking shoes. It was gorgeous though. Temperature was in the high 60s, low 70s in the woods and it was amazeballs. Did not want to leave. The red canyons are breathtaking. I anticipate going up there every weekend from now to April/May. I'll post a few pics when I get them off my phone.
@janetheconquerer,PARTY! hiimjamie,Happy Birthday to adorable J, great pic! tuscanlatte, good luck with the photos Dh left 5:30 for a club breakfast meeting and woke N up on his way out the door. N has had the shits all morning, am thinking more teeth on the way. Stuck in nap jail.
How old do kids have to be to get them allergy tested?
My pedi said 18 mo to even be accurate for blood and 3 yr for the prick testing. LO has a suspected egg allergy and I was hoping to get confirmation but she basically just told us to stay away from it until he can get accurately tested.
Our allergist said it's very common to test at 6 months if there is a suspected allergy. We did the prick test and then followed up with the blood test to get an exact level of the allergy. We have to retest in 6 months to see if it changed.
Poppy has been crawling around saying "bow wow wow," all morning. (She learned it from the moo baa la la la Sandra Boynton book.) I told her I think she's confused— she's a Poppy not a puppy. :-) It's super cute.
That is adorable! I hope you can get video of it so you can look back on it someday and remember how cute this stage is.
ampaints I love child development! It'll be fun for you to learn about the stages of development and be able to see M move through them, especially when you get to the unit on cognitive development. I agree that the theories in the beginning are much less interesting than when you move on to the specifics. I hope this weekend's reading goes quickly.
packmomma, I see you here! How's your weekend going?
By the way, that comment from your sister was a total low blow. Absolute BS. Don't let her get to you. It was a bitchy thing to say, which is much more a reflection on her than you.
Hey guys we got home a couple hours ago and I have internet!! I used so much data at the lake. W had his first boat ride last night and was so excited. He handled the life vest well and danced for everyone. The party wasn't kid oriented at all (my cousins 40th) but everyone loved w. He had a blast sharing his cup with everyone, exploring, and dancing to the music. So glad to be home. Have to plan W's birthday for next weekend.
DH took the older 2 kids out to best buy to buy a tv and Abigail is napping. I should be cleaning but instead I'm wasting time on here. I did already clean out the fridge, take out the trash, and put a load of laundry in though.
We have a BBQ this afternoon that will go into dinnertime, so I'm excited that I don't have to cook. There is supposed to be a fire truck and a police car there. I&A are going to be so excited about that! They've never seen either one up close before.

I love baby dancing! Abigail dances now too. It's pretty funny. Basically she bounces up and down while grinning wildly when we ask her to dance.

I am a babywearing addict - I have a lot of wraps. At this point, I had only delved into machine wovens. Then very very bad me went and accidentally won a blind auction for a handwoven wrap a few weeks ago. While I am waiting for it to be woven, I got the opportunity to borrow another handwoven wrap by the same weaver. I love it but I really can't let myself get another after this one. Way too expensive!
Here's a pic of the wrap we are borrowing, from a little earlier today:
This is similar to what the wrap I won will look like - a picture of one of the other wraps she is making on the same warp mine will be made from. All the heart eyes
zonagirl I asked H about grocery bills and also just logged our finances for the last 4 months (I was a little behind...). We probably average $100/week. The majority of the weeks are closer to $80 but we have some around $120 too.

That's really good. I feel like ours is more 125-150.

That is super impressive. How do you keep costs so low?
Just got home not long ago from the shower. It was fabulous, I loved seeing my cousin so happy! It's possible I started crying when she just looked around and said I never thought I would be here. I remember that feeling well.
M was adorable and soaked up all of the attention. He also figured out going upstairs! Exciting afternoon.
