Jul.ia A.nn arrived at 4:41am weighing 7lb, 20 inches long, and 13in head circumference. I didn't have the med free holistic birth I'd planed on, but I felt so empowered at every step that I still feel like her birth was a wonderful experience!
Early labor started 8/21, was contracting regularly by 8pm so we rushed off to the hospital, only to be sent home bc while in was 80% effaced I was only 2cm. Given the option then to preserve my med free birth, we went home and over 2 day of contractions, we tried everything to get labor to pick up. 8/23 I had my membranes stripped, and thing picked up a bit. Around 1:30am on 8/24 I started slowly leaking fluid, and went back to the MW around 11am. They did an NST and baby was fine, and they offered to let me go home, or to admit me and induce/augment my labor starting right away. It was still 100% my choice. DH and I talked it over and decided we were ready to meet our daughter. My doula/cousin was there at MW with us, so she walked me over to L&D and DH got me checked in. After 50+hours of early labor I was ok with getting a little help.
By 1:30pm I was hooked up to the pitocin, at 4:30pm my MW came in and broke my water, and there was quite a bit of meconium in the fluid, so I felt even more confident in my choice to get some help. I still was trying to be pain medication free but the pitocin combined with the breaking of my water was more then I could stay on top of. I had an epidural placed at 7pm and it was HEAVEN lol. My doula helped me find ways to labor in the bed to keep me progressing and the pitocin kept getting cranked. By 3:30 AM on 8/25 I was completely and ready to push. She was born at 4:41am, and while the NICU team was there if needed, she was perfectly fine and placed on me right away.
All in all, I'm happy with how it went and DH and I are really excited to be home and start life with our DD.
