I just bought a new planner at Target yesterday thanks to the 10% off. Hoping to start using it for meal planning and keeping the rest of my shit together too. Aka weekend plans. Not sure I have a free one until the new year. Yikes.

Kristykristyleelee I've started planning how much $$ to take out of each check for Christmas shopping so it's just a gradual thing rather than a million dollars right at the end of the year....does that count? Lol
I've been in dire need to finding some sort of communal/family calendar. I want to be able to display the meal plan for the week and then upcoming appointments, parties, etc. Also a place to keep a running list of things that we need next time we do a shopping trip.
I am thinking a chalkboard might be the best bet. But can you share a link or pic of that calendar you speak of michyme123?
I used to use a dry erase calendar on the fridge for this, but it currently looks like this sooo yeah.
It worked really well for us when I actually used it, but my consistency is obviously lacking. I have a magnet that is also a clip, which I'd keep on there holding an ongoing grocery list, appointment cards, etc. I need to get back on this.

I need to start writing down my due dates for different house expenses, I've paid 2 things this month a day late because I didn't think they were due until then!
Right now for meal planning we have chalkboard paint on the door that connects the house to the garage. I have 2 aunts who painted a large square of chalkboard paint on the wall, framed it with wood, sectioned it off into month format using colored tape and keep it UTD with the entire family's activities. She likes it because even the kids know what's going on when:)

When I wasn't homeless, I had a dry erase calendar similar to periwinkledaydreams for appointments, social plans, etc. I didn't use it for meal planning - I just do a weekly list, and work around things like if I know H is home late one day, etc.
In the next house we literally have a little room off the kitchen called the "planning center" that will become my little office, and I cannot wait. I have visions of chalkboards and dry erase boards dancing through my head, though it will more likely wind up being a sea of post-its. It'd be nice to set up some kind of weekly to-do list, I feel like maybe I'd be more productive that way, simply from the satisfaction I get of checking off/crossing off things from a list.
I have a weekly meal planner and a contact paperesque dry erase weekly calendar. Menu has what we're having on it so I know and H stops asking me what's for dinner. Week has appointments and such on it.
I'll try to remember to PIP when I get home but no promises.
I also try to plan my outfits ahead for the week. I started that in college. I look at weather and think if I have grown up meetings then put everything together in the front of my closet. It saves me time in the morning.
Eta picture
The menu is inside a sheet protector. Behind it is my month plan and my menu master lister. Dry erase markers work fairly well on it. I use a similar technique at school for data collection aka grades.

@scoop and/or @jemomma I keep hearing suggestions for the Happy Planner.. can yall give a sum-up of what you love about it and what makes it different/special? I use a paper planner and find it helpful but not.. enough?? I want to be sold on the Happy
DH and I also use the Google shared calendar for stuff so he can remember to request off for work, or if I need him home to hang out with the kids if I have a work meeting or other plans.
It is nice, but sometimes I forget about it if I haven't added anything in awhile.
I use the planner on my IPAD , which automatically populates flight and hotel info. I also put in events and dr appts. I need a fridge calendar bc DH will see it and be reminded of things. He is OCD and has many planners though.
jessila I love the idea of planning outfits for the week. That would be such a timesaver in the mornings. I'm going to make myself do this next Sunday.
Writing lists stresses me out. I do make a weekly grocery list or else I'd never get what is actually needed. I have post its all over my computer screen with things to remember, but I hate making to-do lists.
I also have my work and personal calendars synced to my phone. I love the reminders of upcoming appointments.
I started it in college to save me time meaning I could get up and leave within 5 minutes. I wish that was still the case!
Kristykristyleelee...here's my chalkboard calendar. I got chalk pencils because they are fine tip and I can fit more. (Sorry for the wonky pic, but I have emergency contact numbers for babysitters)

I plan all kinds of shit and then don't necessarily follow through. We do keep our bills/budget all planned out. We have a miles card so we literally pay everything possible on our credit card and set a payment each week for it as well as the rest of our bills. I love planning vacations but alas that's not going to happen for a while now. I try to plan with food...it never works out.

I'm a planner. I like to plan everything. I have plans for workouts, meals, usual bills, a calendar specifically for debt bills (student loans, CC, cars, etc) that is planned out several months in a debt snowball style plan. I also have everything in my pretty planner (can't think of the brand) and Google calendar.
I usually just use the calendar in my iphone for appointments and social stuff, and inotes to keep track of meals plans. But it's not working all that great, I need to be able to write it down. mrsmonogrammed, I like that planner a lot. Looks simple and like I can just pop it in my purse. I was going to browse at Meijer tonight to see if they had something similar.

Thanks! I usually just use my phone calendar too, but the next few months I have a dot on every day basically and it was making me crazy to have to pull it up to see what it was! The target planner was especially appealing because I can just pop it in my purse:) good luck with your search tonight:)

A few times I've gone into the planner threads on parenting and got totally overwhelmed. You posted that Target one and and it was like the clouds parted! Haha. Yay, I'm getting excited now!
Just got this gem at target. Debating if I should leave it at work or take it home as an H countdown calendar lol.
I have this exact same calendar on my desk at school. Except mine has writing and sticky notes all over it. I also use a planner- and we have a calendar on the kitchen wall at home that I keep updated with appointments and important events. I'll try to post a picture tomorrow if I have time
My desk calendar and planner are my two essential items for planning. I have a google calendar too, but I like that my desk calendar is in front of me all the time and that I can write on it.
