What type of Sippy? Pedi told me no Sippy. Just give a regular cup and only water.
We haven't been for our 6 month visit yet, but LO has never taken a bottle so IDGAF if the doc says no unless it's going to cause her serious harm if she will drink milk out of it. It's a nuby one with handles. If you bite or suck hard on the spout the liquid comes out. She can hold it but I have to help her tip it. We tried it with water first, she has also taken small sips of water from a real cup while I hold it. I just ordered some 360 cups with handles as well. She seems to really like cups and like knew exactly what to do/ what it's for.

What? Why no sippy? And only water? So he says only bottles for bm/formula? That's kinda silly since tons of babies don't take bottles and most young toddlers wouldn't be able to drink cows milk from a regular cup and are off bottles.

I seen some at Target with no spout. I'll probably try it out. He drinks water from just a water bottle, little sips. I'm sure he'll enjoy a cup with handles. I'm sure it's not that big of a deal. I think pedi just doesn't like juice in anything.

She just doesn't like the idea if giving babies juice from the Sippy. Tooth decay and overweight babies. I'm sure it depends on each baby.

Who gives their baby juice in a sippy?! People are out of their minds!
Now, giving a toddler watered down juice in a sippy, I don't really see a problem with. Milk probably has as much sugar as watered down juice, and IMO milk in sippy is fine. I'm of the camp that doesn't offer juice before age 2 though.

She sees a lot of babies that drink a lot of juice, I'm assuming. She made it very clear no juice. I can respect her suggestions. I wouldn't give juice till after one or so either way.

Juice makes sense. I thought you were referring to milk as well.
I'd really like to wait to introduce juice or not introduce it all, but J has been having issues with constipation since starting formula and solids. Juice seems to be the general consensus for treating constipation. I haven't given him any yet, but I had DH buy some today.
Shoes or no shoes for LO? Sometimes I feel like what's the purpose. Then I feel bad because his feet are always bare?
No shoes here. I find it odd on babies who can't walk. We'll wait until she's close to walking to do shoes, or even shortly after. DD1 was a little over a year when she started wearing shoes. In the winter I'll just put a warm pair of socks on her.
You don't have to give juice, ever, right? It's just bc kids like it? Or is there a reason to give it?
Some people give a little bit to treat constipation but no, you don't have to give it ever. My 2 year old has never had juice.
Yep. My three year old has only had it a few times at birthday parties and once or twice at the church nursery (and once we knew they served juice we brought a cup of water). I see no reason to give her juice.

Alright I'm coming off break for this.
No. Kids do not need juice, even for constipation. The fiber of the actual fruit/vegetable would be better to move things along than juice alone. paloslee is referring to kids drinking juice from sippies because some kids are allowed free access to sippy cups and it can cause tooth decay from the constant presence of sugar in the mouth. There are also parents who give their toddlers soda in sippies too (you read that correctly), which would cause similar problems.

Yes. I know many parents who give their babies and children chocolate milk, soda, juice, punch in sippies and bottles. My pedi said she sees a lot of tooth decay and overweight babies/kids because of this. So she recommended no Sippy. She did say a regular cup or a 360 cup but advised only water. She even recommended a cup with a straw. I'm not against Sippy cups, I was going to buy one but thought I'd ask her first. Now, I've decided I'll just start off with a 360 cup since it has handles.

It did seem to come across that your ped was totally against them, but I knew where you were coming from
There is *some* research that shows that kids who use sippy cups tend to have more speech issues, so they are starting to recommend the cups with straws instead. But this would only be an issue with long-term use, same as thumbsucking.

The juice, and especially chocolate milk, is one of the biggest issues I have while watching my nephew. C is old enough to want what his cousin has and J always comes in with a giant cup of chocolate milk and gets juice all the time at home so refuses to drink water. I only offer water during the day and have to deal with tantrums over it. If we are with my grandma she gives in to it and both boys end up with juice or chocolate milk. It drives me insane that I can't parent the way I want to sometimes because my brother does things differently.
LadyNymeria I didn't want to clog up the FF thread but aren't you, like, having a baby soon?! DID YOU ALREADY?!?
No baby yet, but tomorrow is my due date! I promise to let you ladies know when he's here! Although no signs that that's going to be any day soon yet. I was 1cm at my appt last week and have my next appt tomorrow so fingers crossed for progress! Last week they said they'd probably send me for an u/s if I actually made it to my next appt so it looks like I'll be getting another inside peek before I get to meet him.
Any labor vibes you ladies want to send my way, I'll happily take them all!!

Sending labor vibes! Don't be discouraged by seeming lack of progress, it can all happen pretty fast! Can't wait to see your little guy!

I've been telling myself for a long time that I would go over so I wouldn't be too discouraged if I did make it to or past my due date. It's definitely helping! I'm just so ready to meet him!!

It's going to be so hard not to tag you everyday and ask if you have a baby yet. But I'll be good and sit and wait patiently while secretly freaking out inside.

Haha. I love that you guys are so excited. Makes my heart all warm.
Check out the message on the tea bag I just opened. Couldn't be more appropriate!
Also, I seem to have developed allergies to my bunnies and/or their hay. I can't clean their cages or groom them without massive allergy attacks. This morning that included coughing and wheezing. I'm already on immunotherapy and meds. I don't know what to do.
Can you try switching hay? Or give the hay in pellet form so the dust isn't everywhere?
