Hi. I posted here and there on the TB and after lurking for a few weeks here- I decided to create an account and hopefully join you ladies again.
I was Micelle78 on TB. I have a 4.5 year old with a receptive-expressive speech delay, learned to read(sound out and rote memory) on his own at barely age three despite the delay, visionproblems (extreme farsided, trouble with focus, trouble with teaming, color blind), some gross motor delay that has improved a lot, fine motor delay, sensory seeking- jumping off couch or falling on purpose and sensory avoiding- self imposed limited diet.
He gets private speech, private PT, private vision therapy twice a week, goes to a church preschool twice a week that is playbased. He has come a long way but is still not potty trained and this is a point of manyarguments in this house as well as his behavior when he wants to do stuff and starts jumping off the couch or sneaking to try to figure out how stuff works- dvd player, phone, TV buttons remoTe etc. He reads the words on thebuttons and then tries to understand what it does. He has managed to purchase items off amazon and we had to put a password on stuff just in case he does it when we aren't watching. Even the dvd player has a child lock . Been that way since he was 11 months old.
He is funny too because he narrates his actions. So you can hear what he is about to do before he does it LOL!
you may also remember myesterday posts about my husband. We finally took the steps to get DS evaluated for asd. Basically I made the appointment in November met with the guy in January- evaluation is not until may
I can talk about it all later in another thread. Dh is still being an ass about the process but at least we are heading in the direction now and not just talking about it.
