I guess it's an UO that I had DS circumcised and will do the same with any future boys. But I'm very much a believer in you do you and I would never judge someone else's decision. Unfortunately I think there are jerks on both sides of the debate, as with any parenting decision. I had a very outspoken anti-circ "friend" on FB who I had to hide. I think everyone needs to make the decision they are most comfortable with, end of story.

Before my dh, I would have had a boy child circumsized. He is very anti it for his own reasons. They made sense to me. It is a very personal decision.
I guess I need to do more research into the circumcision debate than just watching a Law and Order SVU episode where the doctor accidentally removed too much of the penis and the parents decided gender reassignment surgery was the best option so the now teenage girl had no idea she was born a boy. It was a really good episode though
That's actually based on a true story of a man named David Reimer. It also inspired the novel Middlesex. It's a really sad story, what was done to the boy and his family.

Very much this. So many people get crazy about this stuff. Also yes, jerks are everywhere.
In my circle of family and friends it's a very UO to circumcise a child. Everyone makes their own parenting choices. This one is very physically, permantly altering though. So I can see why people have strong opinions for either side. I can't really relate to the reasons people have to do it. But I hate the "to look like daddy" reason. That one makes me cringe.
I've been with both types of penis' and my H is uncut. It's no different in feeling, he knows how to clean himself, and it's not ugly. It's a penis. All penis' are equally ugly in their own way to me.

I can totally respect this. I'm equally confident in my reasons to circumcise - none of which include the looks like daddy reason. I guess my only point was that we can have these conversations without being dicks (pun intended). Those people on the pro-circ side saying that it's not "natural" are jerks. So are those on the anti-circ side saying I'm maiming my child. I just think there's no point in shaming or disparaging people when they've made an educated decision. Not saying anyone here is doing this, just a general pet peeve about mommy wars!
