I've seen that some boards do a "private sub forum." Is anyone on a board that does that? Would we ever want to do that? Maybe at least for picture threads? Seems like we might get a lot less "pdq" posts?
Give me your thoughts.
My other board has one. It's really only used for HDBD and a venting thread. I understand the idea behind a private board but I never check it because I forget and it's so slow.
My old board has a private sub board. We had a bat signal to call people in. It was mostly for when people needed to talk about something more private. It did not/does not get used too often, but it was nice to have.

I'm down with whatever. I also wouldn't mind a Facebook group, since I'm on there so much.
Private board would be cool with me. Might be nice to post things there when people want it stay a bit more private.
I am torn on my feelings on going to a FB..... Is it just a group that we would all be part of? Like we wouldn't have to be friends on FB but we would all be in the group?
I'm on a mommy group on fb and you do not have to be friends with the people in the group. Im OK with ether, and honesty would love moving our entire activity to a private mechanism, whether fb or here.
My only thought on the downside of fb is some people on here may not have a fb account, and I don't want to alienate any regular posters!
Does someone more tech savvy than me know how to do a poll on here?
You do not need to be friends, but you can be. It's totally closed - no one can see that you're in it or what you've posted. My Dec12 BMB has been on there for 4 years now and is going strong. I definitely do not want to lose anyone, though!
I'm so not type A. If anything I'm probably a bit too mellow.
Ditto.
It drives DH crazy because half the times I don't bring LOs pacifier... or a diaper... when we go out for breakfast because we're only going to be gone for about an hour and it's really not that far from home. I just hate having to carry around a bunch of stuff.
I started cross stitching yesterday. Making a fox with a Christmas hat. I have about 1 inch by 2 inches done of a 4.5 by 7 inch project and I've already spent 5 hours doing it!

Ha ha!
DH and I just had a wee spat about the same thing. He was taking to DD to pre-school and its cold and rainy today so I'm all "Have you got a hat? Have you got a jacket? Have you got her book she wants to take?" And he's all "She'll be right". I threw my hands up and walked back inside and shut the door.
Just in the nick of time for her 6 month/family photos that we are doing next Monday. They are more like 5.5 month photos so I was debating pushing them out further but was trying to time them with the nice fall colors.
Mom of the year here was of course trying to get it on video and looked down at my phone for a split second and she toppled over. Lets just say she was pissed off at me for a good 5 minutes
Yep, LO has been sitting pretty well for a while so I glanced away the other day when she was sitting on a little mattress about 2 inches off the floor... she managed to topple to the hardwood floors and thump herself. She cried for a couple minutes
My kid is one if the oldest here and she's just now sitting. I still don't feel comfortable leaving her without a boppy behind her. She gets really excited about her toys and loses her balance.
We are doing photos in three weeks.i hope S sits well by then. They are family photos. I need to find clothing for us. The prop is a bright green sofa.

I'm late to this, but my other board has a private board. It just shows up kinda like any other thread and marks if there is something new in it, so it really isn't an extra place to check. Mostly people use it for more private things. Marriage trouble, family drama, pictures, ect.
I am not sure I would call it sitting, but I can put DS in a sitting positing, he will lean forward to play with his feet, and not tip over to the side for 10 seconds or so. His torso is being suppored be his legs, so it is more of a balancing act. I will put the Boppy around him so he can't fall back at least.

I'm alive!!!! Been lurking but have been so busy I haven't let myself log in and post. Today is rainy and we have no plans, so I have a chance to check in!!
Life has been busy busy busy. I feel like I've been chained to my stove trying to get all of my canning done - tomatoes, apples, pears, crabapples, peppers, green beans. This week I have no canning to do unless I decide to purchase a few more bushels of apples. But I think I may just enjoy a break before grape season!!
Plus the kids are keeping me busy. School. Chores. Errands. Laundry - oh my, the laundry. It never ends.
But it's a good busy. I feel productive and blessed to have my hands and heart so full.
The baby hasn't given me more than an hour and a half of sleep at a time in a month and a half. Some days my patience is thin and I feel bad for my older kids. But I look forward to the cooler weather and all the work slowing down. Once we are completely done with the garden and food prep for winter I am going to start instituting a quiet/nap time in the house during the baby's afternoon nap and force myself to rest.

I'm horrible about decorations but I think a lot of it stems from $$$. DH is the grinch of all holidays so he doesn't care and since I'm not working I don't want to spend a bunch of money to make the house look nice. Plus, storage will always be hit or miss, we have a TON of storage here but we could go someplace next with basically none so if I'm going to buy stuff I can't buy a ton but I'd want really nice stuff that's worth toting around with us... maybe one day.
I can't wait for DH to get home tomorrow. DD1 has had a stomach virus for the past week and is waking up in the MOTN again screaming about her belly. LO woke up at 830, 12, 230 - 4 and then up for the day at about 515. I had really hoped DD1 would have felt well enough to go to school today but nope, we ended up at the doctor so I didn't get to nap.
My friends are supposed to come over to play Pandemic tonight and I'm debating about whether I should cancel and go to sleep early tonight. DH will be home all day tomorrow though so I feel like I could nap... I'm an extrovert, I need to hang out with adults so I think I'm just going to double up on the caffeine...

We have to do a health screening to get a discount on our insurance. Of course they only have appointments before 8am and they are 2 hours away. I'll be waking both of my kids up at 5am to go to a 10 minute appointment tomorrow. Send all the coffee....and maybe a donut for after my screening.
When do babies there start crawling/cruising/walking generally?
Crawling probably similar timeframe any time between 6-10 months is the average, cruising maybe 8+ months, walking 9+ months. It is really just sitting that is totally different.
I just read a few German sites and they all said things like at 8 months a baby is finally ready to start sittting on it's own. Whatever you do don't put your baby in a sitting position before this time because it's muscles are too weak AND it will lose all motivation to learn how to sit on its own.
As an American who knows that the sky doesn't fall when you do it differently especially since millions of people in the States do, I see it all very relaxed but I did have a German woman tell me my first son would not do well in school because I was sitting him up in my lap at 7 months
It's changing but old school Germans are against basically all baby toys like walkers, exersaucers, swings, etc and things like rock and plays aren't even sold here.
I don't know all the details here but LO's PT had a talking to me about letting her be in a standing position. DD1 & LO both loved "standing" young but she told me not to do it and that she can't go in an exersaucer or jumper (anything standing ) until at least 10 months.

Rant: I am so jealous of women that have sisters or SILs they get along with. I have always wanted that. I have 2 brothers and their SOs are not friendly. DH has a sister and we couldn't be any more different. I'm so tired of trying to form a relationship with people who won't give back.

DH and I got kicked out of my SILs wedding because I couldn't make it to the "most important day of her life" aka her Bachelorette party. I lived 6 hours away, was a college student, and completely broke. We were later invited back into the wedding but things have been weird ever since. Lol My MIL is very nice though.
I have 0 sisters but 5 SILs. 2 of them I love. I get along with the others but it's hard work and I'm always afraid I'll say something wrong. One is quite a hot head.
BIL's gf basically told me it was my fault I had a miscarriage. She found out she was pg a week after I did. I lost the baby and she was very incentive her entire pregnancy about it all.
I'm sorry, that's terrible. I would find it very hard to be civil for a long while after that, if at all.
