So baby tolerated the procedure fine today - it didn't go exactly as planned, so we will have to come back and do it again it 7-10 days.
She was definitely anemic, which means she is being affected by the antibodies and we will need to do this repeatedly until delivery. New goal of delivery is 34-35 weeks.
She seems to have perked up a bit after waking up, which is a huge relief for me!

fikafairy67, I'm glad the procedure was okay and she's perked up; will keep you all in my T&P.
For what it's worth, I know that 34-35 weeks isn't ideal, but my daughter was born at 34.6 and surprised all the nurses for being a preemie. It's amazing what little fighters they can be. **Hugs**

Thanks everyone. I'm still a bit sore now since they had the needle in my belly for almost 2 hours (and I had a few contractions during it as well) but all of my residual discomfort is mostly exhaustion and minor muscle things, nothing serious.
It wasn't super painful, but it wasn't really all that comfortable. The hardest part was going through all of the prep conversations about the worst case scenario stuff - like if they had to deliver, how much do we want them to do for her at this point?
So somewhat traumatizing, but overall she seems to be handling it like a champ. I will take on whatever nonsense she needs to get her here safe!
fikafairy67 thanks for the update . Have been thinking about you guys. When will you be 34-35 weeks? Hang in there mama!
Mid-November - Thanksgiving day is 36 weeks.
They don't want to to have to do more than 3-4 of these transfusions because of the risks of each one, so once the next one is done next week, they will reassess what we do next. If it goes as planned, we can get another one 2-3 weeks later. If the same thing happens again where they can't get into the cord, we have to do it again 7-10 days out most likely.
If it goes as planned, then we get to 35 weeks for delivery. If not, it could be as early as 30-32. Honestly, at this point as long as I can get to 28 weeks (just 2 weeks away!!) I will begin feeling a *little* more relaxed. We are still anticipating a bunch of interventions after birth, but they are generally limited only to handling the blood issues and have zero lasting effects. The only lasting effects she might have would be related to prematurity, not the blood issues if it's treated appropriately.
FWIW, my DS was born at 32 weeks and did amazingly from the start. They told me if he'd made it to 34/35 weeks there would be a lot less risks, but even at 32 he was healthy, just teenie tiny. He had IUGR from my high blood pressure issues, so he was really small for his gestational age. He came home at 35 weeks because he was doing so well. He just needed to eat and grow.
Now he's 9 and huge and I'm constantly hoping he'll chill out on the eating.

Lucy that's really reassuring for me, I'm hoping things go as planned and we get that far!
At the beginning of this pregnancy, I was a little annoyed she would be born so close to Christmas, just because I didn't want birthday and holidays so close together.
fikafairy67, it was actually helpful that we knew he was going to be early instead of just an emergency at the last second and having him early. That way I was able to get a full round of the steroid shots to help mature his lungs. He was breathing on his own in less than 24 hours.
