I win the special snowflake award!!!
I got pregnant with fraternal twins following a single embryo transfer. Our doctors believe that when I triggered, I already had a mature egg that ovulated before ER and was fertilized from sex the morning of trigger. So, one baby was from our embryo and the other was "spontaneous" (if you can really call it that with all the fertility drugs in my system).
I also happen to have twins in my family. It's so interesting that a lot of us who got pregnant through fertility treatment have twins in our families, and a few people who got pregnant spontaneous don't have a family history of twins.
Mine are di-di as the result of femara + gonal F + ovidrel + TI + IUI. I had 3 follicles in play but never thought it would turn out to be twins. My H's dad is an identical twin.

Spontaneous, found out when our LO #1 was 13 months old. It was THE shock of our lives I'm older (35) so I guess some eggs were jumping ship and my husband just couldn't let one slide.
Ours were the result of IVF and a double embryo transfer. Based on a history of recurrent loss and fertility problems, we thought we'd be amazingly lucky if even one embryo stuck. Lo and behold, they both snuggled in! We were totally shocked.

We were on our last iui before ivf. All the monitoring appointments for that cycle just showed one egg. So i guess the dr missed one! Needless to say we were surprised when two showed up at the first US. But twins do run in my family too so we kinda always felt the potential was there.

Spontaneous here as well. I was shocked to find out but the funny thing was we kept joking that it was twins before the first ultrasound... Must have been mom intuition no twins on my side of the family, my husband is a twin though, not that that matters. I feel so blessed, I always wanted twins!

Ours were IVF babies. Despite having good insurance I knew we would only get to cycle once that year because I wouldn't have the time off saved up for another so we transferred two embryos in hopes of at least one sticking. Both did and the female embryo wanted to make it a party of three and split.

I kept teasing DH that it was going to be twins before we found out, too. And the morning of my ultrasound when we found out, I was imagining how I would react if we were told it was twins. Maybe you're right about mom intuition!

Same here! There has to be some sort of mom intuition about this stuff! We found out at our anatomy scan (we declined all early testing) and on the way there I said to DH "I really can't kick the feeling that there's two babies in there" and told the tech too in a joking manner when we got there. The minute the tech put it on my belly, I immediately saw 2 and she said "Yep! Two babies!" And I laughed and cried. Lol

Myself and a coworker were joking about twins too, as well as one of my close friends. As soon as I found out, I had to tell all of them. There had to be a little of the mothers intuition for sure!

We did a round of IVF, got 5 grade AA embryos and transferred two. Our "how you were made" story would be along the lines of "lots of money, needles, and doctors. Then we shipped the extras off to a friend" who just transferred two so she might be joining us soon if things work out

2 twin pregnancies as a result of ivf. First was an embryo splitting into identicsls, second was the transfer of two embryos. Now, a spontaneous Singleton pregnancy.
Well I said fertility treatments. However, I did the same treatments numerous months and never even ovulated even with a trigger shot. I had an u/s a day before my iui and only had two mature eggs. Did the iui and got preggo with triplets. Fraternal tri/tri triplets. From two eggs. Explain that one!
Me:24 DH:27 Married: 12/15/12 BFP May 2014 from IUI #2 after 8 months TTC B/G/G triplets born on 10/22/2015 at 25w5d After a total of 140 days in the NICU all three of my miracles came home!

LydiaDeetz I happen to know this first hand. I'm carrying identical triplets from a single embryo transfer (FET).
ETA: despite using fertility treatments, the splitting was spontaneous because we only transferred one embryo. They are all in the same sac which confirms they are identical

fightersince83, That is SOOOO cool! I was hoping you'd see my post and comment. Of course we'll never know with my grandmother, but I like the idea of putting them in the same order for every picture so that relatives will know who's who.
