Dd is super attached to a frozen blanket she has. Of course she couldn't pick a small blanket either - it's one that covers the whole crib. It's also that Sherpa type material that any type of dirt is nearly impossible to get out. ive tried taking it before she wakes up to help with the daycare dilemma of leaving it in the car - but the minute she wakes up she asks for it. The second we walk out of daycare she asks again. The instant she sees it she immediately calms down. Does anyone else's LO have an item they HAVE to have all the time - if so any tips and tricks on getting them to leave it behind without having a screaming toddler?
Also as a side note - she calls this blanket her "beats" so anytime we go in somewhere she can't take it she's screaming "beats" at the top of her lungs so I'm fairly certain people want to report me...
My dd, almost 4, is attached to her toddler bed comforter. More importantly, the almost nonexistent tag. We no longer have to take it everywhere, but do take it a lot of places. It is a pain, it is so big. Ds, also is attached to a blankie, he was kind enough to pick a smaller one, but every piece of dog hair attaches. And he won't let the thing out of his sight long enough for me to wash it.

DS2 has two "blankies" -- one is an old sleep sack the he no longer fits in and the other is this crazy ugly Atlanta Braves blanket that was a gift to DS1 (who couldn't care about it at all). We have always told DS2 that blankies have to stay in the house, and for some reason, this is one rule that he actually abides by. Our problem is trying to get the dang things washed, because he ALWAYS has to have them when he's home.

I need to make a rule about them staying at the house and be consistent with it - but she already knows it can leave the house so I might be in trouble there..

Yes the dog hair always attaches to hers too! And washing it - well the last time I *thought* I was sneaky enough to get it in the washer without her seeing it I was wrong. About 5 minutes into the wash cycle she runs in there starting at the front of the washing machine screaming "oh no my beats!"

Teddy. We bring teddy everywhere. He has 4 of them, but only original teddy will do during huge tantrums and at bedtime. I lost teddy in the town an hour away two weeks ago.... He did settle with the 3 others, but I was up all night worrying about him hating me because I lost teddy and him needing years of therapy before he trusts me again. I drove the hour back with him the next day and teddy was there! This is the only thing that calms him down, he always wants teddy, and it's a battle I'm not willing to fight right now to get him to leave teddy at home. Here he is when we found teddy, he was so mad at me and wouldn't put him down at all that day.

Mine has taggies, he calls it his meme, we have 4 because god forbid we lose one. They were great when he was little, but now it is for only naps and bed. However every day we get home after I work he runs in his room and gets his meme and runs out and tells us "I LOVE MY MEME!" When I say go put it back until bed he yells that he needs it LMAO This thing is going to be harder to get rid of then the paci. *sigh*

DD has a duck lovie....or 3. When she was around a year old DH left it at daycare and she cried so hard at bedtime and baptome the next day that we bought 2 more. They were discontinued so we ended up paying 30$ for one of them! If you ask E who her best friend is she says duckie. We try to limit it to bedtime and naptime though.

DS has two blankies (one is an A&A blanket and the other is fuzzy) and a stuffed puppy. The blankets are all interchangible as long as one is A&A and the other is a fuzzy one. It doesn't bother me too much, because DD didn't have a lovey but sucked her thumb, and surpise(!) she's still sucking her thumb 4 1/2 years later...
I've actually thought seriously about making it smaller but she only loves THIS blanket so I'm scared to ruin something that she loves so much if she noticed something different about it and didn't like it anymore.
