joy I second @suesposa on coming here (or my other BMB) or Google to find answers to my medical questions. And when in doubt call pedi. Always trust your instincts. Many time I've thought there was an issue it turned out I was right. I've had one "false alarm" in I wondered if DD had an ear infection but she didn't (but did have a fever).
@suesposa glad you took him in and they were able to give him something. Hope it clears up soon.
Thanks for asking! We just got home from the ER. We were told it is definitely an allergic reaction, but it's too many factors at play to determine what caused it. They gave him a liquid steroid solution. He refused to swallow it at the hospital so I just put it in a bottle which some pumped milk to make him take it.
We have a followup in 3 days. Hopefully the rash will be gone by then. Besides the rash he's acting completely normal though so I'm thankful that its nothing too serious.
Do you know how they could tell it was an allergy? DD3 has a rash I her neck and chest and a bit around her ears. I assumed heat rash from sweating in the car seat. Our laid back pedi said nothing at her well check. But now that I am freaking out about possible MSPI (because the pedi brought it up due to mucous poop) I am wondering. DH wants to wait a few mores and before I try skipping dairy and soy again since DD3 is generally chill and easy.

I so understand those of you who come here before Google or whatever else. I have been on these boards since 2008 and have learned so, so much. I honestly don't know how I would pregnant/ parent without this resource

G has a rash on her neck and chest that the pediatrician said is a variant of cradle cap.

DS had that happen, and it seemed to be from our laundry detergent. We used the organic whatever one for him, but regular tide on our clothes/sheets. As soon as we switched, it cleared up.
I'm not ready for a new week. I handle 95% of everything on my own. Even if DH got up in the MOTN with him, I'm a light sleeper so I'd be up anyway. I figure one of us should get the sleep. He leaves before we're up in the morning so I'm on my own getting B (soon both of them) to school and he doesn't get home until about 6 so I get B home and usually make dinner. On Tuesdays and Thursday's B is home so I'm on my own with both of them. On the weekends though, he'll get up with the baby after his early morning feed (between 6-7) and take him downstairs after, make a bottle for the next feeding, and let me sleep in. But once I'm up he's working on the house and we're out and about. But the sleeping in is so nice.

11pm and I'm in bed! I almost never make it to sleep this early. My babies don't go down for the night until 9:30/10 and then I have to clean, pump, get ready for bed...

Haha, we got our insurance EOB for r's six day NICU stay...$171K. I will be interested to see how much insurance is billed for the surgery and 12 day hospital stay.
kokopellipbandjellytwinkie0612 (though I don't think she's here anymore) how much were your insurance plans billed for the NICU stays?

We were billed about 120K for an 18 day NICU stay. They billed it incorrectly initially and the hospital sent us a bill saying "Hey, pay all of this." I almost ended up on the floor. Luckily, I called them and said they billed it under me instead of DS and they fixed it with insurance.

I'm not really sure honestly. Maybe because it covered him all over? I do know that LO gets heat rash on his face, neck, and shoulders, but it improves when he comes inside and cools down. It goes away within a day.
As of about 30min ago I've decided that it was definitely the dairy. LO had blood in his poop in addition to the mucus. I'm not a dr but I would say it could still be an intolerance for your DD. My LO is the epitome of chill and he definitely can't do dairy. I also quit soy since you mentioned that they go hand in hand 50% of the time.
Thank you. I'm sorry you had to go through that (which I forgot to say before). You always seem so calm and unruffled it's no surprise your LO is the epitome of chill. It's endlessly impressive to me.

I just saw this shanny . We were there 3.5 weeks and it is $114k. It was like 50k for the hospital and the rest was labs, radiology and neonatologist. The neonatologist billed $1900/day plus close to 10k for just the delivery. I'm guessing R got more meds and used more supplies and machines. Vents and all cost more I think. Thank God for insurance

I still haven't seen the breakdown yet...I do know the hospital does bill a lot to insurance in general though. I hope you all are doing well with the whole family together and the new home!
