My sister-in-law, who is also pregnant, burns candles all day every day so I assume they're probably fine. But I've been paranoid so back when I got pregnant I unplugged all of my Wallflowers. 28 weeks later and my house smells like a mix of food we cook, wet dog, and stale bleh.
I thought about trying essential oils but all of the mixed info about pregnancy has me holding back. Anyone have any insight into what theyre using, even if it's the same as pre-pregnancy?
Hmm I didn't even think to change anything.... I don't use air fresheners, though I sometimes light candles. (I especially loved lighting pine- and firewood-scented candles around the holidays.) But yeah, my house probably smells like food most of the time. My pregnant friend has been using/releasing essential oils in a vapor throughout her pregnancy.
With my last pregnancy I read an article the said scented candles *could be* harmful to a fetus. I have a friend who's brother makes pure beeswax candles and she confirmed some of the crap in mainstream candles is harmful.
I stopped burning candles almost enirely now. I sort of miss it, but now with a toddler, anything with a flame is just not worth having around!
I sometimes use a glad plug in or a scentsy wax burner, but not that often.

I can't stand the smell of the xmas pine candle we have. DH lit it the other night and I could smell it from upstairs and had to ask him to put it out. We don't use air fresheners though.
