Heading to the city today for a mom meetup at a cafe on the beach. I don't know any of the people so I'm a little nervous but looking forward to it also. Really am trying to make getting Cam and I around other moms/babies a priority.
H worked late last night and will again tonight so I made plans to have dinner with a friend. Glad he is working late bc he needs to get caught up. He apologized to me this weekend bc he was being an ass. Said he was stressed bc he was so far behind, told him stay late and get caught up. Problem solved!

My mom has been out of town for the past two weeks. She helps me cart the kids around to different places and I am really missing the help. I am about out of steam. It's making me realize that I might need to hire some help in the afternoons or something. When I sign the kids up for activities and school, etc., I do it based on my moms help and man it really sucks when she's not here. Ugh. Feeling like a failure.
Rant ahead, feel free to scroll past, I just need to put it somewhere b/c I feel like I'm going to explode otherwise.
I'm trying really hard to keep it together today. C was up so much of last night - every 30-60 minutes plus a two hour block and later another two one-hour blocks where he was just up. I don't care about our lack of sleep - he's getting so much less sleep than a baby his age is supposed to and I feel sick about it, like we are letting him down and just failing him. Also I can't deal with a cat that is having diarrhea all over our house anymore. Like I just can't. I cringe to think of the germs being tracked all over our house, the house our baby is crawling around in. The house smells at all times, rugs are ruined, I don't know what we are supposed to do. We don't have the money for extensive testing or treatments right now. I am SO sick of wearing glasses, my brand new ones somehow aren't the right prescription, I can't see well which makes me feel unfocused and gives me headaches and I hate the way I look in them (even my new frames). I'm really worried about family stuff. I haven't seen my friends in ages (oh also my BFF was in town this weekend, and completely blew me off and I haven't heard from her since). Money is tighter than it has been in years for us and I'm incredibly stressed about it. I've run exactly two miles in the last two weeks, at a really slow pace no less, and realistically, I should drop out of half marathon training. I'm putting weight back on. I'm doing a horrible job at work these days with all this other stuff on my mind and I'm pretty sure it's not going unnoticed. Idk what to do about any of it, I'm so completely overwhelmed. Anyway it feels better just putting that all in one place so if you made it this far, I owe you a Starbucks.
Oh and when I went to leave today, I handed C to the nanny and he just started wailing and reaching out for me and I had to just walk out the door because I was super late. So that kind of set the tone for my day.

geners, I'm so so so sorry you are going through so much. Take a deep breath. Try to remind yourself that it won't always be like this. C won't always be up at all hours of the night, you won't always have to wear glasses all day, and hopefully your cat won't always be shitting all over your house. Hugs to you and I hope your day turns around soon!

So we installed the 4ever in our 2016 Explorer over the weekend and I am worried it's not installed right. I remember a lot of people saying that it has a small footprint, but ours takes up a lot of space, front to back. The seat is in the middle seat in the back. I am 5'5" and I had to let my seat up quite a bit to allow the 4ever to sit in the back. The bubble is showing that it is in the "safe zone" and we have to keep it on level 3 recline because using 1 or 2 is not realistic with how much room it uses. Am I doing something wrong?
Going to try to tag everyone that I think has a 4ever. What vehicles do you have your 4ever installed in? How is the front to back room? Any input is appreciated!
thatgirlrachel, every car seat installs a bit different in each car :/ what level incline is it supposed to be at rear facing? Can you post a picture? paging rainbowsockmonkey
geners, big big hugs! You aren't failing him (Clara was a bad sleeper too, but is a good sleeper now! and quite smart now ) I hate mornings like that. Margs has been a hot mess too. I hope you can find a few minutes to recharge yourself. I know all too well how that feels.

Inclines 1-3 are for rear facing, with 1 being the more laid back and 3 being more upright. Is @rainbowsocksmonkey the car seat expert on FB? I didn't realize that. I will try to take a picture at lunch and post to FB. I know they can install differently, but the front to back footprint should be similar since the size of the car seat is the same for all, no? (Genuine question because all I am familiar with is the bucket.)
geners, big hugs! Iz has been doing the mommy reach/cry for several weeks, it's heartbreaking, however H says that she's usually fine within about a minute of me walking out the door, and actually does better when I just say goodbye and leave.
I wish I could figure out what was going on with your cat, have you tried confining them yet? sometimes you just have to do what you can to deal with the situation when you can't figure it out. my cat spent several months wearing a cone because we could not figure out if she was pulling her hair out or if it was just falling out, we couldn't find a medical reason for either, so she suffered in a cone for a few months so we could at least know if she could grow her hair back.
totally not an inexpensive fix, but you could eventually take-up the carpets and put down laminant or wood flooring (we put traffic master click together laminant in our basement that looks great and cleans easy in a weekend). short term a carpet steamer might help?
I'd go back to your optomitrist and tell them you're getting headaches and your Rx is wrong, I'd expect them to fix it for free and update your lenses for free; you've only had your frames a short time I'd see if you can exchange or return them too.
family stuff is hard, I have no advice, just hugs.
does your H know how much you miss your friends, can he plan a night at home so you can get out and see them?
I feel you on the work front, most days I feel like I'm just barely getting by at work and often at my weekly meetings with my boss there's something I've forgotten to do. I'm feeling guilty (and H's new job is making me feel more guilty). I'm attempting to set new limits on TCFing (here and FB) at work (like maybe only when I'm pumping and/or eating lunch). I don't think this work/mom guilt is unique, finding a new balance is hard, this first year so far just feels like we're in survival mode most the time.
I feel you on the half marathon training, I've been following the weekend warrior plan and am lucky if I get more than one run in a week. I do feel better once I've gotten out, but most days there are just too many barriers.
You're doing absolutely the best you can with a lot of stressful things going on, be kind to yourself and tackle one problem at a time.
AFM I'm at work trying to focus and figure out how I'm going to tell my amazing boss about H's new job and crossing anything crossable that he might be open to telecommuting once we relocate because I love what I do and I don't feel like a career change right now.
Missed our play date because this baby slept for over two hours this morning and then over an hour this afternoon. Where did he come from?!! He is the king of the 30-40 minute nap.

we had a day like that saturday she took 2 2+ hour naps, it was confusing.

Not necessarily- it depends on the incline of the backseat and the shape of the front seats. But you would think that a ford explorer would have enough room!

Exactly! I definitely think the shape of my front seats has something to do with it. I am waiting on roloma to respond, because I remember that she had an Explorer rental for a while so I'm curious if she ever had the 4ever in there.
We have an outback and there's no problem having our front passenger seat back pretty far (the car seat is behind the passenger seat per manual instructions). We have it on the most reclined position too. Hopefully those that are more well versed in car seats can help you get it figured out, because I would think you should have plenty of room.
24 days until we are in our new to us house!! It's exciting but I know there's a lot of work ahead of us. During the final walk thru I had 2 paint companies and 2 flooring companies come out to give me a quote. Only one painter and one flooring actually followed through with sending a quote. I don't get it. Why waste my time and yours?? Looks like I'll be doing to painting myself.

geners Hugs. I know all too well the feeling of everything going wrong at once. I agree with all of what gdaisy09 said. Definitely go back to the eye doctor about your lenses. I wear glasses all the time, and when I get a new pair it always seems like something's off. Sometimes it can be as simple as the way they're sitting on your face and it's an easy fix.
It really sounds to me like sleep is the number one problem for you guys. I think all the other stuff, while not great, seems like a bigger problem due to extended lack of sleep. I know you say you and your H are fine, but I'm guessing either of you are getting enough sleep! How are the new things in your routine going?
I really think you should confine the cat temporarily. It will not hurt him. I've had to do that with cats in the past and while they don't like it, they usually get over it pretty quickly. I wouldn't worry about germs. I'm sure you're doing a great job cleaning it up. Refresh my memory. How old is the cat? What does the vet say?

Naps sucks so much lol. It appears that the baby is trying to drop her morning nap. I am happy about going down to one nap, but the transition sucks. She's a grump. However, her afternoon nap is nice and long if she skips her morning nap.
It also appears that DS is trying to drop his nap altogether. Which is not ok! He needs to nap! He is a nightmare at bedtime when he hasn't napped. Cannot deal with these two things at once. Grumpy kids everywhere!
obscurereference we're in the in-between 1 nap and 2 as well. The one nap days are sometimes tough, she fights through it and then crashes for her afternoon nap. I'm hoping that settles down before we get to the time change too!
This is exactly us. We're having a one nap day today.
After having a bumper pumping day yesterday, I've pumped dismal numbers today. I'm at 6 oz for the day and should be closer to 10 on average (was at 12 this time yesterday!). Boo. Seems the last time it dipped was about 4 weeks ago... maybe there is a pattern? It's been 14 weeks since my last AF- maybe she's around the corne?

You had plans so of course he slept. It's what they do
Thank you ladies, I haven't had the chance to respond to everything but I read your responses/advice and really appreciate your support I know this is just a phase but it is just hard to see the forest for the trees right now.
Also the nanny just told me that C hasn't peed since 9am and that diaper was hardly wet. He's had 11oz from the bottle with her since then, plus he nursed and had bottles overnight, but he's not peeing. Also only slept 6 hours last night and took one short nap today and has otherwise just been cranky and wanting to be held. I called the ped to cancel our appt. for his flu shot (he was supposed to have it this evening) and told them what's going on, and I'm waiting for a call back but they think the dr. will want to see him tonight. Sigh.

I saw your post on Facebook too and replied to RoLoMa's comment. I think your seat looks good. All rear facing seats are going to take up quite a bit of room. Just imagine what it would be like if it wasn't a seat with a small footprint!
I hope you can wiggle out a bit more space though.

thatgirlrachel, sorry it took me so long...work has been work. I did not have the 4ever in the rental, only the infant seat. But I did reply on FB regarding the footprint in my car. But I second ^
