Today is our wedding anniversary. I've made it past all the dates I didn't want baby to be born on- some come on out baby! I did drop off this morning since H had a meeting and he did so well. He wanted to play with me but I told him I had to go and found him a friend and off I went. It's just such a relief when things are easy. I really want to go into labor on my own. My OB is offering 39 week induction to control some things with my appendix and who's there, etc... but I declined. I may give it one more week and do a 40 week induction. I'm just afraid I'll go all the way to 41 anyway and then that ups the risk that the baby is huge and puts the birthday close to Halloween- dnw. Come on baby, make this not my choice.
My EDD is based on O. Baby was measuring ahead of O on my dating scan, right around average at my 20 week, and a little bigger than average at my 35 week ultrasound. DS was 7.1 at 40w5days. This baby was 6.5lbs at 35weeks even. I'll be 39 weeks this Friday based on O. If I had let them change my day based on lmp, my due date would be this Friday and next Friday would be 41 weeks. My thought was baby come on it's own up to 40 weeks based on O. I would either need induction on Friday or Monday. They want the general surgeons available in case I have an E-Csection and the OB does not want to open me up without another surgeon in there.
From what I'm reading, a lot of the risks of induction are for FTMs or moms who are 0 dialated. I'm like 50% effaced and 3 cms, and lost my plug. My OB thinks I will go really fast since I only had about 6 hours of contractions the first time.

becole I think you're doing the right thing. I know you have said you really don't want to deal with pit again, so let your cervix do it's thing. I may be clueless, but I feel like the hospital will probably have a general surgeon that can come in if you ended up having needing a C.

Even when I was in the ER- it was a Saturday night and they had the general surgeon on call but he was not in the building. The residents were there and they were updating the doc on call to say- hey you might need to come in. I would rather be induced at 40 weeks based on O than 41 weeks based on O. and also not wind up with a motn or weekend thing if I can help it. But it's hard to tell. If I knew baby would come on it's own before 41 weeks, I would wait it out but if I need one regardless, then let's get the show on the road. Ugg. I hate having to make decisions like this. Especially when the docs want to do something but I'm not sure.
becole Happy Anniversary! I think there's evidence pointing to 39 week induction actually being most favorable. I'll see if I can find the article. I just joined a non-woo, evidence based birth after cesarean group and the info is blowing my mind. So much in direct opposition to the Ina May crunchy birth info. vlagroupie is N feeling better today?

One of the girls on another board whose H is an OB said the research shows infants born at 39 have better outcomes than over 39. But I was telling my sister that and she said at their hospital OB floor, they're moving away from that and saying the research doesn't support it. Idk. Just come on baby. 😉
I am glad that I pushed for the dating scan and went on O rather than Lmp- and that I used opks and know my O pretty certainly. It at least makes me sure I am not doing anything too early.

My mind was also blown that there are a couple of studies showing induction actually lowers the chances of cesarean delivery. I was a huge follower of Business of Being Born, so that blew all of that out of the water. One conclusion states that larger studies need to be performed before it becomes regular practice, but interesting anyway.
I just took an online test to see where I line up with the candidates and lined up by far the most with Gary Johnson. I'm surprised because we differ on some important to me things, but align on many others.
BUT imo I don't see the point in voting third party. I think the only two who are really in it with a chance are Hillary and trump. Which pains me bc I don't like either.

+1 Hillary is growing on me, but again, we differ on some issues
dogmama22 I know there's nothing I can do to prevent baby's heart rate dropping and needing an emergency. But I'm hoping since I had a successful induction as a first timer, my chances of a c section are pretty minuscule. OB thinks there's no way the induction would fail- it's just how baby handles the contractions. She also seems to think that pit contractions being "worse" is not accurate- it's just that they're closer together for longer. Idk about that!
Dogmama's random thoughts of the day We've started watching Little Einsteins on Netflix and I love that show. I think it will be even more beneficial for him when he's a little older. Gymboree just had a big sale so I bought Z a few new clothes. One was a pair of dark wash jeans. The tag said "Due to the nature of the dye, color will evolve over time." Umm yeah, we all know dark wash jeans fade over time. This is not called "evolving." Gave me a good little laugh.

I've heard that too and that cervadil and cytotec actually cause more intense contractions, but that's not what I've heard from every person that's ever had pit. It sounds like you're really favorable for a vaginal birth with all of the stats you gave too. When I was re-reading the induction articles, you were in the most favorable category. Like you said, the only bump I could see is if baby's cord is wrapped or something.

I've learned a lot more about her since she officially got the parties nomination. Sure, I don't like everything about her, but she's done so many wonderful things for children and the disenfranchised, has valuable experience, is well educated, isn't a racists / bigot / xenophobe / homophobic / misogynist / etc. I'm pretty positive that WHEN she wins the presidency (think positively), I will cry real tears. Both out of joy because Trump lost, and because of the huge significance of a woman becoming president of the United States.

We love Little Einsteins also. DS has picked up a lot of their phrases like "Look, look, look!" when he points to something. And "we did it!" for every little thing. He is also now obsessed with volcanos, which I think came from one of their episodes. But I think it's a much more positive/educational influence than some other cartoons, and it doesn't drive me crazy like some others.
We're getting ready to ditch cable again, so we need to find more Netflix things he likes. There are a million options, but he's kinda picky.

IMO, this thought process is partially the reason 3rd parties do not have a chance. I think it was Duverger's (sp?) Law that said there will always be two dominate parties with single member districts. That doesn't mean the major parties will always be the same parties, just that there will be two. In theory, the Libertarian, Green or any other party could become one of the majority parties, but if we continue to only support the current major players, change will never come about. This may sound off the wall insane, but more Americans need to vote for someone rather than voting against someone else. **Steps off soapbox.**

I completely agree with mrscatfarmer13 on this. And I've said previously, before the whole Trump fiasco, that the two party system needs to go away and at least a third player be a viable option. However, this is one election that I wouldn't say, go vote for a third candidate. This one is too critical and Hillary being Trumps only real competition means she needs every vote possible to ensure he doesn't win IMO.
YW becole I hope it wasn't too much. I've always had a fascination with birth and this new page I'm on has sparked my interest again. I also like science-y stuff. Nerdalert

Do you have any thoughts on best outcomes by way of induction? Obviously I don't need cervadil with 3cms... But should I try pit first, water breaking, foley bulb? I know for sure this time once the contractions start, I will ask that they turn the pit down. If contractions continue, I will ask for it to be turned off.

If not now, then when? That's more rhetorical than anything.
RE: Johnson. I don't think it's a secret to anyone that sees me on Facebook that that's who I will be voting for. My family friends, HS friends, and college friends are largely conservative as well and are overwhelmingly voting for him. Ultimately I think a vote for him is a vote for her, which I'm OK with. I don't agree with some of her views, but she is a rather impressive woman and my opinion of her has become more positive recently.

bazingaa I plan to vote for Johnson too, even thought I already know KY will be going red... Maybe we should steal Trump Pence signs and replace them with Johnson signs, maybe it will give him more traction.
I really just wish Hillary didn't have so lengthy of public service. If she had come out of nowhere like Obama without much public info., she would be a shoe in. I really dgaf about the emails. and I really don't understand how she can be blamed for Benghazi when they literally get bombarded with terrorist threats and warnings daily and have to decide how to use tax payer dollars wisely- with protecting the biggest threats and ignoring the others. We don hear the same kind of ish about SOS Powell being solely responsible for 9/11. I get that she's not everyone's cup of tea on issues like guns or pro life, etc... But I'm more angry the way her history is being used to make her out to be this terrible person and leader- especially the Bill Clinton shit. This would not be happening to a male.
I am both excited and terrified to see how dirty this campaign gets in the next few week. You know there is plenty more dirt on Trump, just like last Friday's tape. Can you imagine what kind of goldmine could be in the raw footage from The Apprentice?
But I know Trump is willing to stoop even lower than Hillary. I'm just hoping nothing like that exists for him to find.

I heard on the news yesterday that the creator of The Apprentice is legally barred from releasing any footage from the show at all, but that he did make it clear there was plenty of dirt on Trump on the footage.
I'm not excited to see anything else. I just want the election to come to an end so I know where we stand.
