I listen to this podcast called One Bad Mother and they have a segment called genius and fails for parenting. So let's share our genius and fail moments.
Ok I'll start. My genius moment today was making purees during w'W's nap. I made broccoli and pear and then beet and carrot. He loves those and it will save me time in the morning when I want rk run to the gym rather than cook.
My fail is definitely all.of his injuries as of late. Even when I'm right there he ends up hurt.
I don't have genius moment's anymore. I met my lifes full potential when I figured out to use puppy pee pads as changing pads so I can toss them after.
Fail. Where shall I start? I gave my kid tofu yesterday and induced a vomit fest for the ages.

Good idea packmomma for a thread! It is seriously making me think! Mostly I can think of fails...but I managed a genius moment. So our whole front living room is open to the hallway, but has two stairs up and no railing long the length of the room (fail), so I am constantly trying to rearrange the furniture to mimic baby gates. Ended up settling on a giant box filled with balls. Fits perfectly between the couch and wall!
My awesome fail of the past week. In a hurry to make dinner, decided on spaghetti and home made pasta sauce made by my dad. Gave to M first and went about preparing my food. He starts crying, putting more food in his mouth, then crying (rinse repeat). I'm not sure what's happening until I taste the food and realize the sauce has basically slow release heat! My poor babies mouth was on fire! Major fail! But he loved the flavour, as he kept eating it! I ended up mixing some sour cream in to cut the heat and all was fine!

My genius ended up being my fail. I now have a sink full of dishes, I made way more puree than I had reusable pouches for, and I stained my pants with fucking beets.
I know these will be huge but I don't actually know what to do about that. There's probably 100 oz of food here that as he goes through the pouches I need to now defrost and transfer. I tried.
redandblue that is an awesome work around. We have big open areas that can't be gated either. I gave walt andoulie sausage last night and he kept eating it and then spitting it out. It was a new brand. Come to realize when I try it that yep it's spicy. been there.

My genius moment was small today, remembering to get out M's shirt for picture day tomorrow so I'll see it in the morning and not forget that is picture day.
Fail was forgetting to get his bottle ready before we started chilling in the recliner waiting for H to get home. He was not happy when we had to get back up to get it.

Genius moment: Making a Morning Routine chart for DS so I don't have to keep running crap to school that we've forgotten (glasses, library book, lunch... we've been a mess in the mornings lately!)
Fail: hopping back on FB after a few days of inner peace. I can feel my blood pressure rising, I know better...

Genius: I really can't think of one. Maybe the dog wagging his tail in DD's face. Dog is happy to do it, dd thinks it's hilarious, all are entertained!
Fail: The extension cord I gave ds for his tablet. He has a loft bed and I attached it to the rail against the wall so it's not loose or anything so he could charge his tablet on weekends up there.
Never ever did I think he would go, get his nightlight, and plug it in up there. There are burn marks on his sheets and we talked to him about that being dangerous and all is fine but I feel like crying in the corner somewhere, thinking it could've started a fire. Humongous fail.

tmclawchick I just opened my facebook to a dad telling his 8 year old that his mom died. I can't unsee it. Why the fuck do people post shit like that? Like why? And then why do others share it? Facebook app deleted. Good riddance.
tuscanlatte man I never would've thought of that being a problem! Big hugs that's a tough one. The tail is hilarious to me though. I have a lab mix and her tail is like a whip. W does not approve.
Fails. 1. Addie fell out the window last Friday because I wasn't watching her 100% of the time. I was reading. She is fine and caught herself with her legs and I pulled her back in.
2. Addie doesn't sleep in her bed. She sleeps in mine.
3. Addie can't fall asleep without the TV on.
4. Both kids watch way too much TV.
I'm gonna stop now before I believe I'm a horrible parent.

You're not a horrible parent @janetheconquerer I think those are all things a lot of people do, but pretend they don't do. Burke sleeps in our bed quite a bit, both my kids watch tv and quite a bit of it.

Genius moment: constructing a "bath caddy" similar to this that blocks P from playing with the water knobs during bath time.
Fail: she likes to pull up on it, lost her balance, and went under water before I could catch her. She was fine, but I was up all night, checking that she was breathing, stressed about dry drowning.
@janetheconquerer I hate when they hurt themselves while we're distracted. Even though it's not your fault at all! I get the guilt of it. I get that too. Sometimes w will do something dangerous the moment I look away. That is a shitty feeling. Release it.

Genius: wrap the leafy green veggies and eggs P has recently decided she isn't interested in in puff pastry. She ate that egg and spinach turnover right up.
