So, the move in process is going slow, but I'm trying to move one room at a time. Right now we spend most of our time in the family room. I just got these cube shelves from target to put bins in and store all of N's toys. But I should have gotten 2 of the 4 bin ones, I'm not married to having these shelves in this position. But I do want something to cover the wires from the lamp and recliner. Anyway, I just don't know what to do with the space. Here are a few pics, give me all the decorating advice and ideas!!

Can you exchange the two bin one for a matching four bin one? It not being the same on both sides is making me twitchy. And I agree that you need something taller.

I hate that air vent but I don't think there is room for a floating shelf. I nixed the 2 cube and put the 4 cube in the corner hiding the wires and brought these decorative sticks over.. I'm thinking about looking for an accent chair and floor lamp for the other corner now.

I agree, I like symmetry. But I'm also kind of bored with 2 shelves on either side of the tv.

And MH had them mount that sound bar too and I kinda hate it, I had no idea he was going to do that. But we've got some killer sound now for movies lol.
I like this. Still need some stuff on the wall. And maybe you can find a prettier cover for the vent
I looked at Home Depot the other day for a prettier vent cover but they didn't have any Maybe I should look online. I wanted brushed nickel to match the faceplates.

I saw something on pinterest about DIY covers but it looked like one of those projects that is not gonna look as good in person as it did in the pictures.
ETA I bet you could take it off and spray paint it to make it look like brushed nickel

We are not project people like you lol. It needs to be super easy to change/install.

Try spray paint. I'm sure you can manage that. or even painting it the same color as the wall might help
If it needed to be durable I'd say use a primer, but nobody is ever going to touch it so I'd just grab a brush and paint it. Also be careful not to let the paint get too thick on the screws or around the edge in case you do ever want to take it off.

I would remove the vent cover and paint it, let it dry and remount. There's nothing I hate more than when people paint over screws.

But you have to paint the screws or else there going to stick out as a different color. Just do it really lightly.
I put this fabric storage bench in the corner I want to do an accent chair and lamp, what do you all think?
Are you keeping the bench there, or is that just until you can find an accent chair? I'm a symmetrical person too, so the vase with sticks is throwing me off.

I was planning to get an accent chair, the bench is there as a kind of placeholder for now.
