This is officially going to be the most ridiculous question I ever ask.. our 7 week old (on Thursday) slept 9-6 the last 2 nights. This morning I fed her at 6 and she went back to sleep after nursing 1 side. She's been gaining weight great for the past couple weeks and during a weighted feeding yesterday took 4.5 oz so daytime nursing is going well. Up until this week she had been going to bed at ~8:30/9 doing a 4-5 hour stretch and then some 2-3 hour stretches before I get her up for the day at 7:30. Should I be pumping or doing anything at night to keep up my supply? I don't know how long this will last (I'm sure it won't!) but I worry that if I go 10 hours without nursing this early that it will cause issues. I have been hand expressing for comfort when I wake up at night to check on her. We had been struggling with gas issues that seem to have worked themselves out some so I'm sure she is much more comfortable at night which is great but I plan to nurse until 1 year and will be pumping at work starting at 16 weeks so I want to make sure I set us up to make that goal! Thank you!
ETA: and now that I've put this out there I'm sure she will never sleep this well again!
My son started sleeping 12-13 hours a night around then. It took a few nights but my supply regulated. He nursed more frequently during the day to make up for it.
Around 7 months he started waking to nurse at night again, and my supply adjusted to that as well. He's 19 months and just now STTN occasionally again, and I still have milk day and night.
I SAH so I didn't pump much at all his first year, so I can't speak to that. If you are going overnight and she's satisfied with one side in the morning, you could pump the other (afterward or simultaneously if you can manage, single electric or manual). If you want to have some back up milk in the freezer as you prepare to return to work.
She nursed yesterday 8-9 times (there was a cluster feed in the evening). All the resources say 10-12 times at this age which makes me nervous. My son nursed at least every 2 hours during the day + multiple times at night so having a better sleeper is new territory for me. lilyelayne, reading your experience makes me feel more confident. I'm ok with the frequent day nursing and just want to make sure she is getting everything she needs and I'm not setting myself up for disappointment or issues later on. Fingers crossed this stays as her pattern for a while and I'll continue to monitor her weight. I'm sure it will change when I go back to work but that is a while off and sleep is nice right now!

At that age, DS1 started STTN several times a week. At 3 months, he regressed and went back to waking up more. Since he didn't STTN every night, I would wake up feeling uncomfortable by 3 or 4am. I was working on a freezer stash for returning to work, so I did get up and pump. If he did wake up, he just took one side and I'd pump the other.
It's not necessary to wake up, however, if you are comfortable. If/when LO wakes up more MOTN your body will readjust pretty quickly.
