Good morning all! EG had a few unusual wake ups last night, so we are all dragging a bit this morning.
PSA for anyone that has a Lifeproof phone case. Mine has a few hard scratches on it and a friend told me that you can get a new one for free via their warranty - you just pay a $4.99 shipping charge. I submitted my claim yesterday and already received notification that the new case has shipped!
Morning! C was up a couple times last night but it seemed to be because he was super hungry, he went back to sleep easily & for long stretches each time. Is there a 10.5 month growth spurt?! He's wanting to nurse a ton. Or maybe it's a separation anxiety thing. Or wonder week. Or teething. Yep. I've narrowed it down to one of those four things
My city's baseball team is one win away from being in the World Series! This after winning the NBA championship this summer. For a city that was in a 52 year championship drought and considered to be 'cursed', it's pretty exciting stuff I need to get C a jersey!

We had a somewhat better night last night. The baby woke up for awhile again because she couldn't breathe out of her nose but we gave her Tylenol and then H held her upright for a bit and she went back to sleep. Otherwise it was just a chorus of coughing children all night long. I really need to start going to bed earlier.
I have my first PT appointment today so I'm glad to get that going.
good morning, we were out late last night as H's work had a little going away dinner for him and H really wanted me and LO there, except he told us 8pm...but they didn't start cooking until 8pm, so we were out until almost 10.
besides that I have all the coffee and I'm trying to multitask to proof some publication proofs we got back and get all things nanny (tax documents and dependent care FSA) squared away.
I'm traveling today, which means I get to have a nice quiet lunch. My coworker is back from maternity leave tomorrow and I'm having a lot of anxiety about it. I really need to just chill. A started another round of antibiotics, so hopefully that'll get rid of the ear infection. He's so happy though. geners I'm wondering about a growth spurt too. A ate what was probably one egg scrambled, a quarter of pear and sausage for dinner last night. He was starving!
We just had to evacuate my office building due to an 'emergency situation'. It turned out to just be a drill, but how sad is it that these days, with everything in the news, our first thought was it was an active shooter situation?

Add R to the eating everything club. He puked after overeating twice over the weekend. We were having a nursing strike last week but it seems to be better now.
Two of R's fingernails fell off. I cringed but he seemed fine so I didn't think much of it. I thought maybe he had broke them on something. Yesterday I discovered a 3rd one coming off! After some googling it seems that it can happen a few weeks after hand foot and mouth. It's the gift that keeps on giving. He's about to lose the nail on his big toe too.

Since we have some walkers and some almost walkers, what shoes are we buying for our LOs? What brands do you recommend? Pediped? Striderite? Nike? Off-brand? Also, where is the best place to get a deal on infant/toddler shoes?
The only pair of hard-soled shoes we have are one pair of pink Converse that we are about to outgrow.

thatgirlrachel, it's still recommended to have somewhat soft soles for walking until they are more advanced. Striderite has some shoes that have more flexible soles for the just-walking stage. www.striderite.com/en/walking-101-1/
I was just at a stem outreach training. It was pretty fun. Hoping I can be useful in the community when I can get my act together.
thatgirlrachel, Right now I have Margs is leather mocs, I've seen a few different brands, and think they are great (the pair she has is freshly picked). I had also bought Clara Livie and Luca baby shoes- they are very soft (but sturdy) leather soles too. Would recommend. Sometimes you can find them on deal sites.

@thatgirlrachel, coming out of semi-lurkdom to say that I really like Robeez soft sole shoes for this age. We used them a ton with DD1 and have one pair for DD2. They have a super cute superhero pair now that I'm thinking of for Christmas.

I am a stride rite fan. For kids with wide feet they are really great. I have said this before, but we do not do shoes until solidly walking at which point we do flexible soles. Usually we only do one pair of flexibles and then move straight to regular shoes. I guess that's an advantage of living somewhere warm. DD1 actually never had flexible sole shoes.
enigmaticdrscully, hey! how are things? I was actually meaning to tag you today and see how you are doing
byjove, not bad, thanks. I try to keep up here but sometimes work is too busy. Lots of no-show patients today, though.
We seem to have turned a major corner with E's sleep; she's now sttn pretty consistently. However, at her 9m WCC, she dropped from 28th to 2nd percentile in height (and a smaller dip in weight %). They are rechecking at the end of the month but she's still wearing some 3-6m pants, so I'm not sure there's been much of a change yet.

Thanks for the shoe recs everyone! We have some soft soled/crib shoes, but I'd like to get some that have a sturdy bottom and can't slide as easily. So, I guess I really need a mixture between the twos types of shoes I currently have.
On another note, I have been working on one single report for 2 weeks and just found out that our vendor didn't send me complete instructions so I have to start over. If you need me I'll be drowning myself in a bottle of wine tonight.

Oh I've been trying to remember this shoe brand for weeks!
Anyone here have your milk suddenly start smelling funny, or different? Yesterday I spent all day at work thinking maybe the sweater I had on got something funny on it, or they changed the soap in the bathroom, I got home and realized it was my milk. I don't know that it smells outright bad, but I find it mildly offensive. I've been on antibiotics since Friday for mastitis, LO doesn't seem bothered. Weird

F had a pair of Skidders when he was about 18 mo and we loved them. I just looked them up and it said they were good for the learning to walk stage.
M has a pair of Pedipeds and a pair of the Stride Rite Surprize shoes from Target. They are flexible rubber soles and about 1/2 the price of the other Stride Rites. We have a pair of soft soled shoes similar to Robeez but they seem to fall off because M has pretty fat little feet. I really like the Stride Rites and he seems to not mind them at all.
