If LO goes to daycare, how long are they awake for you at home before they take a nap or go to bed?
How well do they nap at daycare?
I am having a hard time with this. DD typically takes about 3 naps at daycare each about 30 minutes long. I pick her up around 3pm. She is usually ready for sleep by 4-4:30. I want this to be a nap but she is usually so exhausted that she is pretty much out for the night. As in, when she wakes up I just give her a bottle and put her back to bed. If she was home with me each nap would be at least one hour and going down at 4-4:30 would only be a nap.
Are we just in a transitional period here? Did this happen when you started daycare and eventually improve?
DS takes two naps at DC a short 45 min one in the am and then a long 2-3 hour nap around noon (I can not replicate this schedule at home I have tried but DC says he is a great sleeper). He then usually sleeps for about 45 mins to an hour when we get home 5:30ish, another cat nap around 7:30 and then goes down for the night (with multiple wake ups to nurse) between 9-10. I think DC is just exhausting...lots of stimulation.

We are having a similar problem and it has not gotten better over the 2 months LO has been at daycare. She will get 2 or 3 30 minute naps at daycare and is usually so overtired by the time I pick her up at 4:00
My LO wakes for the day around 6:30 and I ask daycare to try and put her down between 8:30 and 9:00, sometimes she will take that nap and others not. She will pretty much always take that morning nap when at home, and it is usually her longest nap of the day of 2ish hours.
The things our daycare has tried: bouncy seat, swing, sleeping on back, sleeping on stomach, sleeping on side, with and without a pacifier. The room is always bright (due to company policy) and usually has lullaby music playing. I think for my LO it is definitely a distraction issue. She cannot connect sleep cycles because she is just too interested in all the other babies/noise/etc. She is able to put herself to sleep at both daycare and at home initially though...
It's seriously frustrating, but IDK what else to have them try.
lauraborealis, sounds very much like us. DD's sleep is soooo different at home. But the environments are so different that I don't even have any suggestions for daycare. She is generally happy for them still, so I don't mind too much that she doesn't sleep for them. The bigger problem I am having is that she isn't up at all at home really. So things like trying new foods and a bedtime routine are difficult.

My son won't sleep at daycare either, although today they said he had a good morning nap, just randomly! He usually does tiny little 1/2 hour naps but sometimes he'll only do one. That was the case yesterday. I ask my husband, who picks him up from daycare, to please take a nap with him in the afternoon so he's not overtired by the time bedtime rolls around, but he doesn't always do it. Baby is just 100% into exploring, all the time - kind of seems like he doesn't want to miss anything?
My son is the same. I have even tried putting him to sleep at DC, and it took way longer than at home and he still only napped for a whopping 26 minutes. But at home, he's easy to put to sleep and naps for at least 45 minutes, but usually 2 hours. Is this bad for him? His daycare ladies keep telling me they see this often and eventually he'll grow out of it, but I always thought sleep was so important.
I'm sorry you are having similar issues, but I'm thankful my LO is not the only one. The other babies in his class sleep great. I keep cursing myself for working and making him lose sleep (that's silly, I know, but I have to find someone to blame).

My LO will take a good nap at the sitters from 10-12 and a little cat nap in the afternoon. She will nap around 4-5:30 at home, wakes up for food and a bath, and usually will fall asleep around 6:30, wake to eat one last bottle then out for the night.
DD also only takes 2 short naps at DC. She does not want to miss anything that is going on. She often falls asleep as soon as we get home and is out for the night, other than all her feeding wake ups. It is so frustrating, kus we get no time with her in the evening sometimes. And we only try solids on the weekends because if it.
So no help here, but I know what you are going through.
DS doesn't really nap at daycare either. DD was the same way. She has never really been able to nap at daycare but she is rarely there over nap time since I work part-time. I'm hoping that DS starts sleeping better there soon since he is a mess in the afternoon. Both my kids have FOMO- Fear of missing out. It drives me crazy!

My older two LOs have done this around the same time, out all night after a long day at DC, its not forever. IF you think that she'd sleep longer at DC, do you think that its something about the sleep area or where her crib is that might be improved?
We had a conversation with the DC ladies and asked if our LO2 could be moved to the back, darkest corner of the crib area and her DC naps improved.

I do, but it is so hard to say since the environments are so different. The infant room is connected to another room that has toddlers in it, so I am sure they can get loud. DD's crib is the first next to the mini wall.
I hate to push it ATM because DD is only at daycare TR. She will be there M-F starting in April. I was hoping to give it some time once she is there full time. If her napping hasn't improved, i was going to take to the ladies and see if we could move her.
I am glad you were able to find a solution that worked for LO2.
