Let's Love/Hate our H's today...

We haven't done it in awhile... and I know sometimes it's hard to look past their flaws or shortcomings to remember why they're so great   But they can surprise us with sweetness sometimes.... and then they do something stupid and you're reminded that they're still a guy

This week my H has been so great with everything happening, I feel like I have to awe him for a minute:

This week when we found out about my procedure Tuesday, I had to shower with special body wash and sleep in clean pajamas and sheets, etc. He was off Monday, so he went right home and stripped the bed, washed the sheets, comforter, my pajamas, comfy clothes for the next day, and made sure there were clean towels. He even made the bed before I got home. He couldn't be there for my procedure, but he came right after work, and brought me a cookie too.

However.... I'm on restricted activity at least until my follow up this afternoon. He works until 7 tonight and his parents went out of town today for the weekend... So I asked my mom and sister if they wanted to have dinner together tonight (so I won't be alone with J). He texted me that he was going to go to dinner with his Bro after work.

I almost cried! I told him I wasn't comfortable with that, and I don't have the energy to keep up with J right now after this week (and honestly shouldn't). He understood and cancelled, but I'm mad he would have even thought to go out after work, when he already gets off late! He thought I'd be out late with my mom and sister.... um not that late stupid!

I love that he is willing to work so hard and could never be called lazy. I do wish he would discuss things more, though. He just does whatever and doesn't tell anyone so no one ever knows what's going on, except him. That's the best I got right now. He hasn't pissed me off in a few days!

Mine hasn't really pissed me off lately. But we aren't really that close lately though either so there is that. I guess that is my hate part.

He has been sleeping downstairs in the spare room so that I can get decent sleep a few nights a week since his snoring is insane and I cannot sleep next to him. He's worried about my migraines and has been really supportive about helping me thru them. He's also been working overtime to pick up some money to cover my dog's surgery and I didn't ask him too. Usually I just take care of all the vet stuff since they are my pups, so it's thoughtful of him.

He balances and accepts my anxious, awkward, moody moments, which seem to have increased since motherhood.

I love that he is the kind of person I'd like my kids to grow up to want to be and find as a partner--honest, thoughtful, hard working, loyal, principled, and deep.

I'm feeling extra smushy about him since he made me feel extra special on my birthday

One more-he pushed me to go to a little reunion with college friends in a few weekends. I'm nervous to go by myself and leave the kids for the weekend (not nervous in that he can't take care of them, but anxious about not being by their side as I always am), but I know I need it! It will be so fun!

I love that he makes me laugh every day. If I get pissed at him I can't look at him cause he will make me laugh. I just love how happy I am with him

I fucking hate how good he sleeps. Omg. I shine the flashlight in his face. I yell profanities. I lay Barrett next to him when he's crying at 3am and he doesn't budge. It's so annoying that he sleeps so damn good.

I hate how he never thinks to share things with me, even if to him they are NBD. On Friday I picked up the kids from DC and was talking with MIL and all of a sudden she asks how H was doing with hearing that he has to go out of town for a specialist and there's a high possibility for surgery on his arm. I was not even told about either. Needless to say I sent him an angry text, he was out of town.

I love how he does a lot of the outdoor chores or "harder" chores for me without asking. And I'm incredibly lucky at how much of a fixer he is for us to save money whenever something breaks or we remodel our house. With our master suite addition we saved a ton of money because we (or mostly him) did it himself instead of paying the contractor.

I love that my H loves my cooking, even if I make something really simple. He has never once complained about food I make and tells me all the time how much he appreciates my hard work.

I love how hard he has been working lately, both at his job and at making me happy. He's honestly trying a lot to make changes I've asked for and we're getting along better than we ever have (knock on wood).

It drives me insane how he doesn't listen sometimes when I'm talking to him. We could have a 10 minute conversation about my parents coming to visit and an hour later he'll say he doesn't remember me telling him about it. Grrr!

It's his birthday today so I won't bitch haha!! He really is amazing with the kiddos and is so calm and patient. He had a golf board meeting on Monday night then tuesday he has band practice. So On Wednesday when he got home from work he totally took over while I relaxed on the couch! He got elise fed, made my dinner and bathed and put both girls down! It was awesome to have a night "off"!

He's also super handy! He just finished up putting up crown moulding in our main living area- something that I have wanted forever!

I love how great he is with Dagny. He wants to be with her all weekend which gives me a break. He's also been wonderful about helping with stuff around the house since I'm pregnant & exhausted. He did the dishes last night after getting home from a 15 hour work day! I also love how appreciative he is of me. He's always thanking me for dinner or telling me what a great job I'm doing with Dagny. That positive reinforcement really helps on long days!!

I don't really have anything to complain about. I wish he wouldn't work as much but I used to work where he died & know he doesn't exactly have a choice. Its not like he's out with his buddies, he just works 60-70 hour weeks & is on call during the weekends while the legislature is in session. This years a budget year so it'll be like this until May which just makes me so sad I can't during wine. Sigh. At least it's not an election year & next year (when I'll have 2) is a short session.

My H has made a huge change in himself this last month. I'm going to have to be kind of vague about it, I don't want to put it all out there just in case someone ever links this place to me (and him) IRL. But let's just say he's had a demon that he's been trying to get rid of as long as I've known him. It was usually his #1 priority over anything else (including me and the kids) and it was the thing we disagreed/fought over the most. A month ago he gave it up completely and he is like a brand new person. I am so, so incredibly proud of him.

I have some gripes but they are so minuscule compared to what he's accomplished that they're not even worth mentioning

I love how supportive H is of my choices. That he trusts my judgement about major things and usually we do what I decide. He also supports my smaller decisions like trying to run a 5k or eat better and will try to help me meet my goals (as long as he doesn't actually have to eat healthy or exercise lol)

Of course I hate that he doesn't take care of himself because I don't want anything to happen to him.

I love that he is stepping up and really helping out now that morning sickness is hitting me hard. He entertains LO on the weekends, lets me sleep in, and makes breakfast. He has also been really good about getting/making his own food and picking up the house.

My biggest gripe is that he does not always respond when I ask him a question. It gets annoying to ask the same question 2+ times to get a response.

I love how handy he is around the house and how hard he is working towards his dream job right now. He's also taken more initiative in playing with M more and taking him places so I can have a break.

It's annoying how he gets so angry when he is working on something around the house and it doesn't go the way he planned. Cursing, the works. It'gets me more upset because he snaps at me really easily when he's upset.

I love how involved he is with Lillian and how he tries to make my life easier.

I hate how much he's been working: been away 5 days, 2 to go, and all next week he has to go in early/come home late. Plus 2 company dinners. Its pretty much going to be 2 weeks with just me at home

I love that mh is so hard working. The simplest things I do make him happy and he enjoys being at home with us. He always tells me I am beautiful and a great wife and mother ect. When I know there are many things I could improve upon. He just knows how to be supportive.
My gripe is that he never 100% listens to me while I'm trying To tell him a story. After the kids go to bed he always stays up late on the computer and I feel like we never get us time, as I go to bed before him every night! I like to snuggle

I love that he's my biggest cheerleader and truly believes I'm capable of anything and encourages me to test my limits and get out of my comfort zone.

I hate how he leaves the kitchen like a war zone hit after making a meal. Cabinets open, containers of food all over, etc. I start cleaning it up every time and he says "No don't!! I'll clean it up after I eat!" (and he always does) But I just can't enjoy a meal knowing the kitchen is a mess. I have a compulsion to clean.

Um my H sent Dagny (and I but that's a little more expected) flowers for Valentines Day today. With the sweetest note. She's been carrying the little pot around all afternoon. I died.

I'm a little late but I'll play...I love that he picks up the slack when chores go undone. That he wakes up earlier in the mornings and gets the kids ready for the day. That he's the one who insists we cuddle every night. On that note...why do we have to cuddle once I'm all comfy in my spot in bed? I need my space! And once I'm in bed its because I'm ready to sleep. I can't sleep with him spooning me.
