Allergy/Intolerance Check-in 10/20/16

Another week in the books, hopefully another week closer to outgrowing her issues!

We decided to try a new reflux medication. We were hopeful (it is just a different PPI, but saves us nearly $250 a month!) and she is spitting up frequently and she is having silent reflux all day long. Maybe if we gave it to her twice a day? I don't know. I have an email into the GI. We are so ready to break up with our specialists. We are not pleased with them. Taking oats and rice out of her diet seems to be helping though.

We had a follow up with J's GI on Monday and her 1 year appointment. I have a 1 year old!! We've transitioned to soy milk in her bottles while at daycare/with grandparents and I'm still nursing in the morning and at night (no more pumping at work!!!)

We are trying baked in dairy. So far, so good. Next will be a few bites of yogurt each day for a week(ish), then introduce cheese and having more yogurt. Then we'll gradually add WCM to her soy milk. FX that this all goes well!!!

We are meeting with a GI specialist on Wednesday. And then we meet with a nutritionist.

We had dS fifteen month appointment this week. He gained one pound in three months and grew one inch. Our pediatrician was not pleased hence the new lists of specialists.

Hopefully they can help.

Hopefully they can give you some tips. Pros- he is still growing and gaining, even if it is lower than the ped likes

Thanks for the tag! I am back at work so it is a bit harder to check in these days.

We are doing ok. I am managing to stay away from allergens while at work by basically bringing in all of my meals and snacks.

S is doing well in daycare although it is hard on my heart to be away from him for basically the whole day. He doesn't nap well there either so he is so exhausted by the time I pick him up I get one quick smile before he completely passes out in the car and then stays pretty much asleep the rest for the night.

byjove sorry for the specialist issues! That's so stressful and awful.

We are ok here. I accidentally ate nuts last week but TT didn't react. So, I had a little bit of peanut butter on purpose (ped wants us to officially start adding it back in two weeks) and TT didn't react! So, my list of bad foods is now really only egg, dairy, and soy! Or, at least that's all I'm avoiding for now as we breastfeed. I'm crossing everything that we keep crossing foods off the bad list, but for now I'm grateful to only be avoiding those three.

kingsley123 I hope the specialists have some answers! And, at least he is still gaining, as others said. FX for answers/solutions.

I haven't been getting notifcations on my phone for some reason so I just logged in to see this, so thank you for the tags!

We are doing ok. We attended our first birthday party with Owen being mobile and I think it may have resulted in a small reaction. (Our first one since finding out about his allergy)

There were a lot of kids there and there was veggies and dip, chocolate cake, milk to drink all around. I put him down for a nap when we got home and he woke up inconsolable, super stuffed up and breathing pretty weird. Luckily I was able to give him some benadryl and it seemed to help.

Aside from that excitement, our next hurdle in the allergy world is our trip we have coming up in a month - hoping that everything goes smooth and we don't come in contact with any milk while we are there!

mollykinnz, I think that definitely could be a reaction/exposure. A super stuffed up nose during sleep is always a sign of exposure for my LO. I'm glad it was no worse!

It was our first one since he reacted at 6 months to some yogurt, I'm so glad it wasn't worse!

I haven't been on TCF/tapatalk for a while and must have shut off my notifications. Thanks for tagging me. We've been doing very well. Olivia has been eating finger foods and steals a lot from our plates nowadays. Our pediatrician suggested we attempt some foods a while back that we had been avoiding because of allergic reactions. So far, we seem to have success with wheat, soy and some dairy. Eggs and anything cooked with egg still causes a reaction (diaper rash ring/eczema/hives). I'm thankful that the reaction is less pronounced than it was in the past (or when compared to DS shrimp reactions). So, we're hoping to try more dairy and eventually eggs again when she is a bit older. I still avoid eggs myself and most dairy. However, eating is a lot easier for me these days.

GI appointment update: GI said DS looks healthy to him and to keep up the good work. No endoscopy. He had us add fiber to DS diet, twice daily, which is tough because DS is a toddler and not consistent about eating his food. So I have to guess where to hide the fiber. Otherwise, we keep waiting to see if DS outgrows these allergies.
