So as many of you know my c section was scheduled for Friday October 21st. Our surgery was scheduled for 7:45 am sharp, so we had to be at the hospital at 5:45 am for intake and prep. I woke up to pee at about 2:50 am that morning, but couldn't get back to sleep because nerves and baby was kicking up a storm. Just laid in bed until my alarm went off at 4 am. Hubby showered after me and almost made us late because he was taking his sweet time. Made it at 5:45 am on the dot. Went back and signed all my consents, answered all the questions, and they inserted my IV line. We sat for about an hour while I got my first of two if bags of fluid, the the anesthesiologist came in to introduce himself and give me the lowdown on my mess and the risks and all. He was a great guy and did a mix of a spinal block and epidural that worked wonders. They got hubby suited up and we walked back to the OR. Getting the spinal was seriously painless, I'd say even easier than getting the IV line put in. Once that was in they quickly situated me I the table got me and the drape set up and then let hubby in the room. They did their tests to ensure that I was truly numb and then went to work! Honestly the whole thing took about an hour from placing the spinal to being wheeled to the recovery room.
Bri.ghton Ell.iot was born at 8:11 am. He was 6 lbs and 12 oz and 19.75 inches long. Born with a full head of hair, even though I never suffered heartburn!
They stitched me up while they got baby situated and then set him to my face so we could get some one on one time with he hubby and me. Then they sent us all over to recovery together. Baby took his first pee on the OR table and his second at his first diaper placement. He had good BMs on day one too. He took to the breast pretty early and has at least been latching since then, though we are still working on that, and waiting for my milk to come in. His bilirubin is skittle on the high side at 7.8 now, so we are watching that as well.
Poof!
