Please tell me I'm not alone! R has not been wanting his bottle for a while now. I thought maybe it was his teeth but they've been in a for a while now. My pedi recommended not to give up and thinks it's probably some phase and he'll get over it. My concern is that he's not getting enough formula. He's only taking in 20-24 oz per day. He was eating 4 8oz bottles for the longest time but I've been tossing out so much formula that I started making 6oz bottles and he's still leaving 1-2oz behind every. Single. Feeding. What have you guys done to be successful if your LO has this habit?

How's he doing with solids? C's milk intake decreased quite a bit after starting solids. How does he do with a sippy? We have success in getting him a few extra ounces a day by offering a straw cup (he doesn't like regular sippy cups), you could try experimenting with that if you haven't already.

Is his weight ok? I would not worry at all about this at 10 months. My LO was doing the same thing and we ended up dropping a whole bottle. She was drinking 4 - 8 oz bottles and she dropped to 3 - 8 oz bottles in less than a week. If he's doing well with solids and his weight is ok, I'd actually say this is a good thing! My ped says we should be working our way down to 16 oz per day around 1 year old. I don't drop ounces on purpose but I just follow her lead.
Agree with what's already been said. Formula consumption is usually on the decline at this age. As long as weight isn't an issue and baby is consuming solids and isn't exhibiting other worrisome symptoms (like crankiness from being hungry) I wouldn't worry about it.
ETA: to answer your question, I follow DD's lead. She has no weight issues so when she is done with a bottle (or solids) I stop feeding her. I don't try to have her finish a bottle if she's not interested.
Now at 10 months, we do 5 oz at breakfast with one oz mixed into cereal and fruit then drinks the other 4.
Then lunch, 2 stage 2 containers of food usually meat and veggies and then a fruit or veggie followed by 3-4 oz.
Snack a few hours later that consists of puffs, crunchies, yogurt bites and 5-6 oz of formula then dinner same as lunch but with 2-3 oz.
So in all she only drinks about 14-17oz a day and doesn't seem to have any issues with weight or otherwise and she pretty much sttn.
Like pps have said take her cues. If she's doing great with solids then she might be refusing because she's not hungry. I don't push the bottle or foods on DD when she turns away because she knows when she's full better than I do.
Also, I notice in DDs case, right before a growth spurt she kinda slows down on her eating then during and after really ramps up on the food. Just a thought.

EG is also down to around 16 oz (4 4-oz bottles) per day.She eats pretty much whatever we eat as far as breakfast, lunch, and supper, and she has puffs/yogurt melts/etc. as snacks during the day.
I have another question along these lines. Once they transition to cow's milk, what is the normal number of ounces we should aim for daily? Should we give bottles say every 3 hours, kind of like we do with formula/BM? Do they only get them with meals? On demand?
I never measured WCM, and just offered at meals. My oldest wouldn't drink milk for months after weaning so I offered yogurt and cheese as a substitute, and that was fine per my pedi. She said as long as she has a well balanced diet not to stress about it. I would make fortified oatmeal w/ WCM as well.

My ped says no more than 16 oz cow's milk per day. She also always wants us to offer at meals. We have never had a problem transitioning to cow's milk and both my older two love it so much that we've had to limit. The ped has also said other dairy is fine if they won't drink milk.

Got cut off posting that other reply....
I would definitely not do bottles every three hours or on demand. I think of it as trying to work toward more of a toddler feeding schedule. My kids get three meals including milk and two snacks (ideally) and that's what I'm steering the baby toward as well. Oh and access to water all the time.

He does great with solids. Eats 3 meals a day of his own and usually eats off our plates too haha. As for soppy cups, we've tried 2 different ones and even though he'll drink from both after 2 big sips it turns in to a game lol. Weight is great. Think I'll just follow his lead and try to not trip about the ounces. I'll follow his lead like you guys recommend.
