If you had a time machine and could go back and change anything (big or small) about your/the past (without it really effecting/hurting the future) what would it be?

If I had a time machine I would go back and convince my cousin that we should not get cats in 2011, that I am now stuck with. I'm sure that sounds so stupid but the cat she got drives me crazy all the time!

I would change a lot about my college career. I should have switched schools when I wanted to but I let a friend talk me out of it.

I wouldn't have gotten engaged the first time. Not that I think it took away anything from when DH and I got engaged because most of the time I forget that the first "engagement" existed, but it bothers me that I wasn't smarter about it when it was happening.

I would have gone away to a university instead of living at home with my folks and going to community college. I had the grades for it, I think I was just too scared to leave my boyfriend (now DH) behind. I know it would have changed my future, though so that's a tough call.

I would not have accidentally sent that email about my former boss to my former boss when I was 23. It sounds dumb and there were no real repercussions beyond horrifying embarrassment, but I still cringe whenever I think about it.

+1. There are little things that sometimes I think I should have done differently, but at the end of the day it got me here.  And I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

I wouldn't have cheated on an Econ exam to comp out of taking the class in high school. I definitely would have benefited from taking it and now I regret it a lot.

I would go back and have a chat with 15 yo me. I would give myself a reality check about my abusive mom, explain her controlling tendencies and how much life I would miss out on if I kept listening to her. I would also tell myself that my mom was wrong, and I'm not a terrible person that no one will ever love, and that she only says those things to keep me under her thumb. I would want to give myself the strength to step away from her earlier than I did.

Overall I'm pretty satisfied with the big picture of my life. If there were a way to not have taken out student loans I'd go back and change that. But I'm happy with my experience and my degree so maybe not.

I would say not marry my ex, but I wouldn't have the two beautiful children I have.

I would have worked harder to maintain some friendships that I let fall by the wayside when we all went to different colleges. I still have some communication with a few childhood friends but not as much as I would like.

I wouldn't change any life decisions because even though some of them seem unwise now, they all worked together to get me to where I am now.

I think I would like to go back to talk to myself after my loss and say that it's going to get easier and a sweet, beautiful little girl was in my future.

I would have done nursing from the start instead of getting a degree in communications, then going back to school. I was scared of the science courses because chemistry in high school made me cry on the daily. But it really wasn't that bad in nursing school. Now I have a bachelors in a field I don't even care about and an associates in the one I really do care about.

I would go back to the start of college and change my major and course of study. I feel like I choose and "settled into" my major way too soon, and I don't think it was the best option for me. I'm a teacher now and not feeling very happy or fulfilled in my career. I wish I would have done something different with my life, and now I feel trapped with the career.

I think I would have had more fun! Your 20s are such a precious time in your life. College, boyfriends, friends, parties. I had my fair share of fun, but I think I could have squeezed some more in. And I wouldn't worry about pissing off my Ex or being labeled a slut. Yup, I would have made out with more guys. Taken more trips. Be more spontaneous. Kiss him. There were so many kisses I let slide by. *begins playing "Kiss the Girl" from Little Mermaid*

But not if it changes where I am now. Because I am perfectly happy where I am now.

I wish I would have broken up with my college bf earlier when I knew it was over instead of staying together because it was easy. I also wish I had moved to a larger city out of college, I could have always came home if it didnt work out. But I am completely happy with my life now, funny how it all works out!

Never too late to make a career change! My friend has her masters in education but didnt like teaching after a few years and transitioned to another field (related to education), she is so much happier.

I know this is a cop-out, but I don't think I would go back and change anything. Everything has brought me to where I am today and shaped who I am, and while there are things I'm not necessarily perfectly content with, that's part of life.

I do wonder sometimes how things would have turned out if I'd picked a different major in college. Right now, I'm not using my degree in music education, in part because the job opportunities are so limited and I don't have the networking connections I need since I moved across the country. I've also changed in that I can no longer really see myself as teaching in a traditional classroom. I do have some private piano students, and I love teaching music in that context, but I don't know that I needed a degree to do that.

I would have went to college somewhere else the first time. I chose based on not being too far away (from high school friends and boyfriend, dumb!) and because I was offered a full ride scholarship (not dumb, but in hindsight I should have known I was going to hate it there). I only went to a semester and stopped going my second because I was so miserable there. If I could go back I would go to one of the farther away colleges that I was really interested in, but was too scared to go to at the time.

Obviously that would have changed the course of my entire life though, and things turned out pretty well for me (just on a much more delayed schedule), so I wouldn't really change it.

The only thing I would change is to have more fun. I spent a lot of my life taking myself too seriously, and I feel like I missed out on a lot of great opportunities that I regret not experiencing now.
I wouldn't take back any of the stupid things I did, because they all got me to where I am today. Where I am isn't perfect, but I have a beautiful little girl, a healthy little boy on the way, and this is just another stop on the road to where I want to be one day

I took chemistry like 3 times in college. I also cried!

I would go back to the first doctor I saw about my tumor symptoms and slap myself for not being a better self advocate. I was so young and insecure. If I had pushed for an ultrasound or blood work in the beginning they would have found it four years sooner. I wouldn't have spent so many years sick and depressed. It would have changed so much.

I only hope it wouldn't change that I end up with MH or our relationship

I think I would go back to my early twenties self to be smarter with my spending habits. I'd be more stable financially right now, but I'm also not sure I would be the person I am now either.

I'd go back in time to 7th grade and tell myself, "That girl who just passed you a note in class and immediately wants to be best friends? She is BSC and will suck away years of your life with her drama. STAY AWAY."

Yes yes I'm happy with the life I have now, and who knows how I would have turned out had I not had that experience, but it would certainly cut down on the rage-dreams!

I would, hands down, change the way my siblings and I handled clearing out our family home in preparation for its sale. I would have insisted on having a garage sale, I would have tried to sell more on craigslist (and started this process way sooner), I would have at least hired movers to handle my own move into an apartment, and I would have insisted on us paying for a storage unit instead of moving things to our uncle's basement. It's not the biggest thing ever, but there is SO much bullshit that stemmed from us not doing these things!
