Good morning! Working from home this AM because O has a well child visit at 11. I overbooked myself today and have to also make it downtown for a training class that is from 12:30-4 and then I have a networking event that I helped organize that starts at 5. Which means, I'll get very little work done today and I'm already ready for today to be over.
chrispy1122 that sounds like a tight schedule gl! Boo JoBub for the long day. I'm headed back home today yay! I'm having a pt'ing conference at N's school when I get back and then getting N early. Guess we better get the PT'ing show on the road finally. But I'm glad that they are working with me bc I'm not exactly sure where to start yet.
Least favorite day of the year. Teaching til noon. Parent teacher conferences 1:00-7:00.
Sorry. Just know that working parents are super grateful that you have late-afternoon evening conferences!!
We have our first parent teacher conference in a few weeks. I'm really excited because I'm so curious about how E is in the school environment and interacting with other kids. She loves her teacher and wants me to style her hair just like her. She also loves playing "school" and being the teacher, which is fun because i feel like it gives me peek into what school is like for her. I also want to know if she is having issues with other kids (she is pretty stubborn and can tantrum). She mentioned a couple of times that "so and so said she didn't want to play with me."

I know it's necessary to have conferences late like this, but just promise me when you're kids are in high school you will keep in mind how much conferences suck for teachers, and opt out of PTC night if your kid is getting an A and you don't have anything you need to talk about. So many parents schedule conferences because they feel like they're supposed to, and they just want to hear me say "Your kid is doing great!" in person. It just feels like such a waste of my time.
Sometimes parents bring cookies or something. That's the best. Sometimes parents take the very last conference slot and then stay and chat for an extra 20 minutes. That's the worst. Don't be that parent.
ETA That is adorable that E wants to style her hair like her teacher. The feedback I get from my kid is usually "Teacher say noooooooo"

Yeah, I agree that PTCs seem to be less necessary in high school unless there are signs of issues. I'm also of the opinion that if there are issues, it probably makes more sense to email the teacher to talk about it right away rather than waiting weeks for a conference. However, I will remember to bring cookies to all my PTC conferences.

This is not how PTC happened at my schools. I don't know if things have changed, but back then, you had open house, where parents had enough time before or after "class" to quickly speak to the teacher if necessary, otherwise, a parent could request a PTC if they felt the need, or the teacher could if there was something they really needed to address with a parent. None of this, every parent gets to come in on one day thing.
I honestly don't think my parents ever went to a PTC in high school or if they were even offered.
This is how it was in the public school where I used to work. I would get like one conference scheduled on PTC day, and then I would be trying to call people for phone conferences to meet my quota.
Maybe it's a private school thing. Parents are a lot more involved. Which is great, but it just makes this night sooooo long.

chrispy1122 thanks. M is a kangaroo. We had already bought his costume when I came up with ours, otherwise he would be Liz, the lizard.
JoBub I think it is a matter of private vs. public. My private school had quarterly open house style PT meetings from 3-6 after school and most parents attended. I don't even recall hearing about parent teacher meetings in my public school, unless it was for poor performance/behavior.
We went to the aquarium for an hour. The toddler needs out of the house.
Are you not sending him to DC while you're on leave?
We sent him yesterday for his party but he threw such a fit we are keeping him home while H is home. He'll go back next week. The newborn is easy right now but DS is not. I don't even know that I could heal with my stitches handling him right now. He's been throwing tantrums. He goes from fine to a rage. It's so weird because he doesn't show any overt signs of jealousy towards the baby but his behaviors (listening, getting dressed, brushing teeth, eating..) are all a huge battle.

I've tried to tell H that his behavior is normal but it's definitely ramped up since we've been home with baby. H has little to no patience with him. I think I'm ready for them to go to work/ school. Leave me alone with the baby please.

This is going to be very dear diary, but I need to let the anger out. So around 10:30 I asked my work friend if she wanted to order carryout somewhere. We usually eat around 12, but she had a meeting so we agreed order food at 1:30. 1:30 rolls around so I ask her if she wants me to order food, she replies that she's not hungry so she's not getting anything now. It took everything in me to not let the hangry rage monster come out. I'm effing starving and resorted to sun chips out of the vending machine.

She said her throat has been feeling scratchy and I guess she's had a lot of mucous draining. Still, let a sister know, especially when you know she eats normally eats earlier.

I just found a chest hair. It feels and looks like a piece of invisible thread, but it is most certainly attached to my skin. I need some tweezers, STAT!

I agree with sstwinklinglitesbecole. Toddlers be crazy - one minute happy as clam, the next minute the world is ending and they are probably causing the destruction.

I think I may need to set my personal appearance bar up a little bit. I couldn't get my contacts into my eyes today so I wore glasses. I didn't put on makeup because I can't see without my glasses. I put my hair in a ponytail because E got toothpaste in my hair. I just saw my reflection. Not good.

That's me a lot of the time too except I can still do my makeup without my contacts in. But I've been doing a lot of ponytails and glasses. My rationale is I work in a male dominated, casual IT environment and am not usually in front of clients or management, so I don't curr.
