I did a 1 hour glucose test during IF testing and remember getting a little nauseous but was not considered insulin resistant.
Last week I did the 1 hour test again and got really nauseous but managed to not throw up and failed the test with a results of 189 (although they did take it 10 minutes early but I probably still would have failed). They wanted it below 135.
I took the 3 hour today and thought I was in the clear when I didn't feel nauseous after 1 hour, but at 2 hours and 40 minutes after finishing the drink I got hot, then cold, then clammy skin then nauseous. I tried to breathe through it, fanned myself with a magazine and just kept trying to tell myself I just had to wait 20 more minutes.
It didn't work. I didn't even make it to the bathroom before throwing up but fortunately I was able to keep it mostly contained to my hand before I reached the toilet.
The tech noticed and at first said that I would have to come back and re-do the test (no thank you) and as I'm standing at the counter in tears and shaking from the nausea (not to mention lack of water and food for over 10 hours) I begged them to let me finish. They called my doctor's office and they did the last blood draw with the warning that I might have to do it again.
I've looked but not found any real link, but does anyone know if there is a link between the nausea and failing the test, especially if you puke? I've read that some women just don't tolerate the test well and it looks like I'm one of them.
I have four different risk factors (age, pre-pregnancy weight, PCOS and family history of diabetes) so chances are I failed. I'm to the point where I am going to refuse a retest and just treat myself as a GD (testing, diet, etc.) if it gets me out of doing another glucose test.
