For all the time change concerns - we had it this past weekend and it was kind of a non-event. Maybe it's because we have the 7 hour time change to the US as a point of comparison I don't find the fall change too bad. I put them in bed at 7 pm like usual and they drop like flies because it feels like 8pm, and I slowly set back their Gro Clocks (clocks that tell them when they can get up in the moring). They're usually set for 6:15, and the first night I set them for 5:45 (would have felt like 6:45), then 6, and then 6:15 like usual. It takes 1-2 nights for them to adjust. DD3 handled it pretty well, too.
I got tons of work done today and am feeling very productive. DH was great - it's a bank holiday here, and he handled the DDs all day so I could work.
scorpioscuba happy birthday. That card is definitely questionable 😳 chimomma19 since sleep has degraded wine consumption definitely has gone up. I need some dinner time inspiration any fall favorites? Mind you my husband won't eat soup... yes I know he is ridiculous.

So I finally brought the card up with H. I asked if he even read it. He said he kinda did but was frustrated at the lack of "from both of us" cards and read it quickly. He thought it had something to do with first born vs 2nd born. When I showed him what it said and he realized what it meant he felt bad and apologized. To his credit the card he got me from him was beautiful. But he has a tendency to rush things and in times like this it shows. 😳
We had a lovely lunch out and I got a 90 min nap today. So that's something!
H is back at school studying now so I'm taking the kids out for pizza 🍕 to celebrate.
H ended up staying home tonight. Not because of me, but the guy who runs his game had to cancel at the last minute. So he shared some supper and chips with M and now we're hanging out waiting for bedtime.

scorpioscuba - I will second 14joa31... I just read your card post and totally laughed. I mean, it's completely ridiculous! My feelings would have been hurt, too, though. Hopefully one day you guys can look back on it as a funny story, though.
Made it to Minnesota! We just checked into out airbnb rental which is a really great Craftsman house in a cute neighborhood. Super happy with it. The kids and I are chilling out and H is picking up some pizza. The flight ended up being as good as a flight with two small children could be. We got a whole row to ourselves so 6 seats for the 4 of us. Yay!
kcrkcs - I served up frozen pizza tonight - lol! I hope you had something more fun and fall-themed. I made spaghetti squash for the first time last night. There is a squash thread on page two or three of parenting that I used for some ideas.
crimsonandclover, i didn't know Germany did Halloween! They don't celebrate it in Poland. I'm not surprised at the lack of rules, though. i'm down for the FFFC! 14joa31, glad you got all your baking done! love spaghetti squash too but it's so hard to make. Madybe im doing it wrong. Probably. scorpioscuba, you should see the look of disgust on my face lol. At least you guys talked it out. DH made such a half ass attempt at my birthday this year, i gave him crap about it for a month. dizzycooks, sorry your party was canceled but at least YH was able to be home. MH had a day off yesterday too. First one in I don't know how long. silverspoon, Lollipop, chimomma19, so sorry ladies. We're pretty miserable with colds and teething over here too. Hope it passes soon! NellieOleson, ugh MH does stuff like that all the time. Drives me nuts! Where are you going again? MN? kcrkcs, good luck at the appt, will be thinking of you.
DH was home yesterday waiting for orders that never came but he ended up leaving early this morning. I'm glad he was able to come trick or treating with us last night. I could tell he really loved being with the kids and not missing out on all the fun.
DS is sleeping horribly. I'm so tired. I can tell his mouth is hurting. I hate when he wails and is inconsolable. I feel so helpless. Ughhh. I should go to bed now but I'm glued to the cubs game. We went to storytime and the library and CFA for lunch. DD is behaving like a threenager lately. Fun times.
icequeen M isn't miserable at all. She's her usual happy self. And the rash is clearing up pretty well, thank goodness.
S is being a pain tonight. He got up twice an hour after bedtime. Once looking for a toy, and then 30 seconds later he was whining about a band-aid that he wants to take off. And now I hear him again.

I'm working hard on being patient, going with the flow, and trying not to be overly controlling of the situation. But holy crap. We've been here 14 hours and my H's and IL's "planning" is driving me nuts. It's either nonexistent, subject to change at a moment's notice, or completely ludicrous for two small kids. Only six more days. Ha.

Oh! And I've also been informed we are doing family pictures one day and everyone should be dressed in something neutral. Ummmm.... wouldn't it have made sense to let us know that before we packed and flew here??
The blisters are opening and this is just the grossest thing. He doesn't seem bothered by it though which is good. He's just happily crawling along touching EVERYTHING.
His diapers thanks to the antibiotics for his ear infection are... fun.
We're kind of a mess over here. I'll be so happy to go back to work tomorrow.

Oh that would make me twitchy. Your IL'S sound a bit like mine when it comes to planning.
I'm completely on my own today for the first time since my surgery. S is being whiney, probably because he was up a shwackload of times last night (the last time being sometime after H left to ask what time it was in New Brunswick). My throat is still achey, but I don't really need any help.
NellieOleson that is so frustrating! I certainly don't bring my cutest clothes on vacation and I'm definitely not prepared to coordinate with other people. I hope you find an easy solution. On the bright side this is the best weather we've had in weeks! I hope you get to enjoy it!
I sent the big's to daycare today and I took the baby to visit my coworkers. You Gus, I do not miss it at all!! Omg I know Dh wants me to want to go back, but I so do not. Listening to all the drama. I do not need that in my life. Dealing with other people's kids crap is just not something I have patience for atm. I miss some of the people and the quiet moments to myself, but sassy kids? Temperamental parents? Huge class sizes? Nope nope nope. 😢 Dh and I need to have a heart to heart.

NellieOleson, that's totally something my ILs would do. I wish you patience and wine. Especially wine.
What exactly makes a headache a migraine? I could probably google that, but I thought I'd ask you guys instead. I get headaches in batches, and I seem to have started another one recently. It's definitely related to tension in my jaw, but they get so bad. I'm light sensitive, especially audio sensitive (is that what it's called? sensitive hearing, at any rate), if they get bad like today I get nauseated, and when they're done I get all shaky. Most of the time only sleep helps, but today I took Aleve and that seems to have done the trick. I just hate how I feel so totally incapable of taking care of the DDs when I have them. I mean, I manage, but it's brutal.
And then there's DH, who once came home from work and we had this conversation: Him: Man, I got a headache at work today. Me: That sucks. Do you want some Advil for it? Him: Well it's gone now. It only lasted about 10 seconds, but it really hurt. Me:
crimsonandclover that sounds like the migraines I get. Occasionally I also see "halos" beforehand, which is also fairly common. I find sleep helps the most. I don't get them that often, usually just when I'm pregnant or from caffeine withdrawal
crimsonandclover 😒 to your h. Wth. Yours sounds like a cluster headache or migraine. I think it's the severity that causes the label. I have light and sound sensitivity with my headaches and sometimes it results is nausea/vomiting. I have found an ice pack on my head or neck really helps. Often I'm cuddled under a blanket with an ice pack my neck.
Dd woke me up at 6 and came into bed with me. Slept until 745 yay! We went to dd's gymnastics class this morning and then to target. Ds was sitting on one of the mats behind me and when I turned around he had taken steps by himself. Slow down, buster!
M's current way of letting us know she's done eating is to try to take the tray off of her high chair. She sits there pulling on one side until we let her out. It's funny.

Those definitely sound like migraines, crimsonandclover. I second ice and sleep. Only thing that works for me when they come on.
NellieOleson, It is so hard when people don't think about scheduling with respect to little ones. Sending you all the patience you can muster! That's challenging for me as well!
Sorry about the teething, chimomma19, keep the wine flowing!
I'm sorry for all the yuck silverspoon. At least he doesn't seem fazed by it though.
It's so hard to tell if S is bugging M or not. Her laugh sounds like the start of crying, and she'll grab his hand, but you can't really tell at a glance if she's trying to push him away or make him keep doing whatever he's doing. It's slightly frustrating. I give him crap for bugging her and she get upset because he wasn't. Or I don't tell him to leave her alone and she gets upset because he *is* bugging her.
My dr. Apt. went well. He thinks I have some reflux that essentially burned my esophagus and is making all the symptoms. So i am on a plan for the next two months and if I still have symptoms he will scope and ultrasound just to make sure. This totally makes sense. One of the things that can be a contributing factor is caffeine which, with my lack of sleep, has definitely been on an uptick. Anyway I feel a huge amount of relief because my brain went to all the bad places. Best part is I was going to pay out of pocket because my insurance situation is still jacked up... But... we know the doc really well and he wouldn't let me pay anything. I was prepared to fork over $500. So this was a huge surprise/relief. We definitely owe him big time.
