Defrosted/ unthawed question

I read unthawed is only good in the fridge for 24 hours.

I was lazy and didn't pump this weekend and gave daycare 6 frozen bags this morning. I normally give her fresh so I didn't even think to tell her about storing them. When my H picked up this afternoon he said there were 2 unused today and she kept them in the fridge for tomorrow. I'm thinking that they will need to be thrown out tomorrow morning. My H thinks that's crazy and they will be fine to use since they were still "frozen" in the fridge all day today and won't actually be fully thawed until tonight/ tomorrow morning.

What do you think?

I think they would be fine. I usually count my 24 hours from when they are completely dethawed. That's what it says here kellymom.com/bf/pumpingmoms/milkstorage/milkstorage/

yeah, if the milk still has ice crystals in it, it's considered frozen. what quantity was in the bags? 4 oz or more would probably still be partially frozen by tomorrow. 2 oz or less would probably be thawed.

are you dropping off in the AM? then you can examine the bags and give them a sniff-- it would be immediately apparent if the milk has gone off. if they smell okay or are still frozen i wouldn't hesitate to use them tomorrow.

They are probably fine. Just ask them to use those bags first tomorrow. Baby will let DC provider know if it's gross!
