belle0720 the Jenny Lind? We saw it in BRU after I had noticed it online and loved it! We were able to use a 20% off coupon and I had a $30 GC so it was around $120 for us. Total steal and I could care less if it takes a beating from this child! (Which of course it won't because my baby will be an angelic child who does no wrong. That's how it works, right??)

That's a total score! They definitely didn't have it at our BRU and I couldn't find it online for much cheaper than $200. We actually bought it off of craigslist from someone--it's in awesome condition and they said they ended up co-sleeping with their daughter so they really didn't use it. They included the mattress too and we only paid $80! And we got the matching changing table from someone else on craigslist for $15 (although we had to spruce that up a bit). My MIL seemed to think we were gross for buying our baby furniture off of craigslist--but man we saved a ton of money and were able to get the exact set we wanted :-)
mrsmonogrammed I just noticed the gold polka dot sheets you ordered--I've been thinking about buying some from etsy (our nursery is grey, white, and gold) or maybe just using fabric paint to DIY our own. Where did you get yours from?

@littlebee I ordered the bedding off of CadenLane.com. I had the HARDEST time finding what I was looking for but when I saw these I had to have them! They have a million options so I highly suggest taking a peek at their site, but they are a little pricy:/
belle0720 that's an AWESOME deal! You go girl! We're just slapping a changing pad on top of an ikea dresser we picked up;)

Caden Lane's stuff is totally darling in person BTW! They have a shop here in San Antonio and I saw them on Etsy as well and had to go check it out.
I love seeing everyone's progress! DH finished painting and cleaning the hardwood floors so the next step is to buy a new area rug so we can start swapping furniture. I feel like my design ideas cannot be finalized until we have the rug since I prefer for the rug to be a statement piece, especially since the ways are a more blahh color than I originally planned. IMO there are less interesting area rugs out there that are youthful and masculine without being overly childish. (I had plenty of options for DD!) DH is being irrationally cheap too (and we need an 8X10), which isn't helping. One of the ones I've been thinking about is this one, but I am hesitant about it being hand-woven when I would prefer low pile.
Finally convinced DH to let me order this rug! This is the one I really wanted (didn't post earlier because it was categorized as "high sellout risk"). Not as youthful as I originally hoped, but it will go better with my desired color scheme and be easier to accessorize.

baytosa2013 I'm so glad you said that! I was starting to worry about paying so much for something I haven't even seen in person! I'm sooo excited for it to finally ship so I can start finding the rest of the decor!
Hi! I'm lurking from the July board! Awesome ideas that you all have, they are inspiring me! For those of you that wanted the wood wall look, I had a friend that made a headboard that for the longest time I thought it was either from pallet wood or barn board but it turned out to be this!

So my very sweet MIL gave us this set of three Gel prints from the 1938 Disney Short, "Ferdinand the Bull." Somebody bought them for her mother back in the day and they were in the nursery while she was growing up and in my DH's nursery. They are sweet, but I don't know what else to do with the nursery now. We are team green and a bull is a male, even if it's one who would rather smell flowers. So then do I try to get other cow/bull things? I'm not feeling the cow print fabrics. I really think these prints are a cool tradition and I want to incorporate them. But I'm afraid of it being too theme-y and also concerned that if nothing else has cows/bulls it will look eclectic and not very cohesive. We had a cream carpet put in today, but the walls of the nursery are still bright orange and will need to be repainted (yeah, yeah, orange - I swear the color looked so nice when it was just a little square, but then suddenly I had a bright orange room somehow and have been too lazy to repaint it this past year). Anyway, ideas welcome.
This is a picture of one of the gels: hopefully that works

@demanda88, that's a good idea. I like farm animals. I had thought cows jumping over the moon, also, because there are some cute mobiles out there with that as a central idea, but I don't know if I wanna mix two stories. I like general farm animals better.
Glad someone else revived this thread We just finished painting so I wanted to AW too, but saw the post was a few pages back. This was actually a big project because we tore down all of the plaster walls upstairs, insulated and hung drywall. We just primed and painted this weekend and it's so satisfying to be *almost* finished with construction. Now, we just need to put the base boards back up and hang crown moulding. We're team green so we'll add some navy or hot pink after LO arrives, as well as a monogram on the gold stripe. The other gold section is a built - in bookshelf that will have white shelves once we hang them.
Totally AWing here because my ikea frames & these prints I found on etsy were delivered today & I'm dying over the cuteness. These will go above the dresser.

Not with the golden pineapples but that's the crib set I ordered. We may leave the crib white but I'd prefer to paint it green. Just lots of bright happy color.

@demanda88 those prints are adorable and look really precious framed as a group! I'm still debating between safari animal babies or dragonglies flowers and frogs.. been leaning towards the latter, and incorporating some jasmine flowers into the decor (LO will be named Jasmine)
Luckily, we still have to find an apartment and wait until May to move, so I have some more time to procrastinate! I mean.. to plan. Time to PLAN

Same here! My pinterest DIY nursery decor pins are out of control lol! Ive pretty much accepted the fact that I won't be able to actually set up our nursery until after LO arrives, which Im okay with since she'll sleep in our room at first and im one step away from bedrest at this point anyway. Right now its all 1. saving up $$ to move 2. purging junk for the move 3. resisting buying anything nonessential so as to not ruin all our efforts toward 1. and 2!!! Lots of daydreaming and lurking and pinning and planning going on here :
Ok! We've made some progress! Our beautiful custom recliner/rockerwas delivered this morning. I am so excited about it, I could just burst! Now, if only our crib and dresser would come in, too.
This thread is amazing & everyone's ideas & inspirations are awesome. I'm sad to say.. Babies room is blue.. & that's about it, with a Moses basket in the middle surrounded by packing boxes. The boxes have been there since September when we moved in.. Also when LO was conceived . I'm taking the fact I decided to paint the room blue before BFP as a sign I was going to be expecting a boy very soon.. I'm weird like that. It's slowly but surely making progress as I get rid of our unwanted junk.. I have no idea on a theme.. I might discuss with SO to go for nursery things during the week.

I'm AWing today on my nursery progress!
Picked up the pram and set up the beautiful dresser that my dad built for me.
Bought a chair yesterday but it won't be here for six weeks. Hopefully my rug has arrived by then too.
So exciting! I've never started a room from scratch and thought about what I wanted to do with it. It's always kind of come in bits and pieces. So this nursery is getting (probably way too much) attention like crazy!
The change mat is with my mum: she's sewing some covers for me.
It feels like it's all coming together now.
Still need shelves, frames on the wall and diaper bin etc.
Nothing is going on with ours yet...just had major building work done and they're not finished drywalling yet. Its just baby furniture and boxes...I'm getting very antsy about it now!
I'm in the same boat as you. I'm itching to be able to work on the nursery!
baileybaileybne Your dad built that dresser!? I'll take one please! It's gorgeous!!!
Thanks I know so he's awesome. He's a retired school teacher so furniture making has kind of just come as a hobby. I absolutely love how it turned out.
I bought these curtains over the weekend. I also bought some Etsy prints and a flag banner similar to that pictured by kemdupuis (just in different colors). Carpet in; furniture moved. Finally starting to feel like we are making progress.
Where has everyone been finding curtains for their nursery? I like this one on Etsy and it's $110 for 2 panels. But once you add in the blackout lining and grommets it's like $230 and that seems like a LOT for 2 52x63" panels. Also are you doing blackout shades or blackout lining in the curtains? The window is going to get direct sunlight so I think I definitely need something of that sort.

We had blackout curtains with my son and they worked fine, but we just picked up and installed black out roller shades (from IKEA) and they work so much better. And gave us more variety in picking curtains. The nursery is just getting a pair of sheers (also IKEA) that were $20 for the pair.

I'm opting for cordless roman shades (blackout) instead of curtains and likely will applique something on them (2 windows) so no curtains. Window treatments can be ridiculously priced. Could you do like billyhorrible and do a blackout roller shade instead of the blackout lining?
jcprn i love the idea of doing blackout shades with this LOs room and plan to go that route as well if i cab get DH on board. The curtains i bought are from Land of Nod. I think its all about the look you want and how picky you are

the ones we really wanted were at PB- but they were 90 bucks/panel and we have 2 windows. We couldn't justify almost $400 on curtains, so we actually found some similar ones at overstock.com. They haven't cone in yet, but they were half the price. I'll let you guys know if they turn out ok!

How much were the roller shades at ikea, if you don't mind me asking? We have mini blinds in the nursery (that the previous owners cut the cords on for their kids) but I don't like those. I was thinking blackout shades and sheers since curtains are so damn expensive. Or a valence with them.
