3. What is your favorite nursing position for a toddler? Sitting on my lap facing me-- or side-lying if we're in bed.
4. How does your LO let you know that they'd like to BF? When I get home from work, he cries, says "ma-ma-ma-ma," follows me around, and then tries to pull my shirt up when I sit down with him. The other night he was so tired he actually led me over to the bed and wanted me to get in with him. In the MOTN, waking up crying, basically.

Non-BFing question of the week: If you could pick one quality for your SO that s/he doesn't currently have, what would it be? I would love for H to have better organizational/time management skills.

Pregnant & BFing Moms: How are you doing this week? Any issues with supply, pain, aversion? Questions for other moms? a little pain, but again nothing like mastitis so I'm just dealing with it. Supply has definitely tanked, but that isn't stopping DS from nursing.

Almost 13 months

I had to stop counting on weekend days This is new since the end of co-sleeping/successfully doing Ferber. I assume these things are related.

3. What is your favorite nursing position for a toddler?
Straddle hold. Pretty much the only way she'll nurse now.

4. How does your LO let you know that they'd like to BF?
Yanks down at my shirt and/or basically starts motorboating me We're working on it.

4. How does your LO let you know that they'd like to BF? He'll grab the bopping or the muslin cloth I use to support my boobs. But we do bedtime only so lately he hasn't been asking because he wants to stay up and play.

She says "want milk" and then why I try to offer milk in a cup she clarifies with "milk a mommy"

I wish dd1 would stop deciding she wants milk at the exact moment I latch her sister on. That's been my frustration lately.

3. What is your favorite nursing position for a toddler? I still prefer cross cradle, but lately he wants to lay tummy to tummy in our recliner. side lying at night

4. How does your LO let you know that they'd like to BF? my word for milk has always been milkies. DS had a speech delay, so his word is me-um. He talks pretty great now, but still will just NOT say milk or milkies

More motivation to actually do projects around the house without so much procrastination and nagging. I have been waiting on beaseboards for 5 years now.


I have a bonus question for moms who have gotten pregnant while nursing. How long did it take you to get pregnant while nursing vs. not nursing? I am trying to figure out if BF is screwing with my cycle even though I am fairly regular and have had my cycle back for almost 2 years now. I got pregnant on the first month last time, so my perception might just be screwed up.

Welp, despite all my best efforts I go here now.

1. How old is your LO? Turned a year two weeks ago.

2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? Morning and evening. Sometimes a one off during the day.

3. What is your favorite nursing position for a toddler? Still cradle.

4. How does your LO let you know that they'd like to BF? She walks up to my left breast (we've been using one side since about 7 months), points, and says "this."

briarrose My cycle returned when DS was almost 15 months old and then it took us 6 months after my cycle returned. It can take up to 12 months for a perfectly healthy couple to conceive. My cycles were a bit all over the place. Anywhere from 27-46 day cycles. I was temping, checking CM/CP, used OPK's for 2 cycles, and all that fun stuff. Are you charting at all? I was using the app, Fertility Friend and it was very easy to use and made it pretty simple.

I am not charting or anything. We have been doing the deed every other day and what I think is the optimal time period, and other than that I have been lazy about it. I think if it doesnt happen for another month then I will order some OPKs.

briarrose, i got pregnant the first month trying with DS1, and basically the 2nd month trying with DS2 (in retrospect i saw that i mis-timed the first month and we missed ovulation).

are you using an app to track your cycles that lets you know when you'll theoretically be ovulating? my cycles after DS1 were semi-regular, but generally long (30-35 days, some even longer-- but that's not uncommon when BFing). i was never any good at temping (especially since DS1 was a crap sleeper and i could never guarantee that i'd been asleep for the 4 hours previous or whatever it's supposed to be). i relied on watching for cervical mucus/checking cervical position. start checking your cervix a couple days before you're supposed to ovulate (if you're not familiar, SHOW (soft, high, open, wet) means you're fertile... vs. firm (feels like the tip of your nose), low, closed, dry when you're not.) after a couple of cycles it's pretty easy to differentiate.

so i guess verify that you're seeing ovulation signs, and make sure you have at least 10 days after that in your cycle (to give the fertilized egg time to implant). and if you're not and wanting to conceive ASAP, try cutting back on nighttime nursing and/or limiting the number of nursing sessions during the day to see if that has any effect on your cycle.

We got DD (our 2nd) the 1st cycle trying and I think my fourth cycle PP when DS was 10mos ish.

I think I saw some advice to make sure you are ovulating upthread. If you're trying, temping to verify O the right first step IMO.

Like at briarrose, I'd say something to do w motivation. Mh is a big time procrastinator as well. It's so frustrating to remind/beg/nag him 743567 times to get something done.

Thanks for the advice ladies. I dont think temping will work for me since DS is still pretty restless in the 5-8 AM time, but I think I will try monitoring my cervix as suggested.

I'm really just hoping that I get pregnant on the next couple cycles, before the age gap gets too, too much bigger.

briarrose I got pregnant with my first after 3 tries and my second on the first try (though my cycle returned at 9 weeks pp so I was pretty regular). Dd1 had also been restless in the early mornings but I tried temping anyway. I found that as long as I temp at the same time everyday, my results are accurate so I set my alarm for 6am and temp, then go back to sleep. It may be worth a try. If not, monitoring your cm is a good start.

I don't go here anymore, but I just wanted to chime in.

It took us about 7 months to get KU with DS1. I nursed him on demand night and day, and he was not STTN. I still charted as best I could and go clear temp shifts every time. It took us 3 cycles to get pregnant with DS2. I NOD until I was about 5 months pregnant.
