lindsay - I don't pretend to know people's financial situations. If it's people I know and care about, assuming it's a legitimate GoFundMe for medical expenses or something, not a vacation fund, I'll donate. I also prefer when it's setup by someone else and not by the persons needing the money themselves, but that may be too picky.
Yea that's the thing, I have NO idea the financial situation. So I know I shouldn't assume, because I'm sure it could be way worse than I realize. Also I imagine bills out of network really skyrocket things.

But why would you be out-of-network unless you choose to be? The only time this usually happens is if someone has an emergency and you can't get to an in-network provider and normally you can petition for costs to be covered at in-network rates because of the extreme circumstances.

So here's an ancedote regarding medical bills. I work with someone who had a 10k hospital bill knocked down to 900. She has employer based insurance, 3 kids, and and combined household income of around 110k. All she had to do was send in her tax returns and the hospital waived everything except the cost of a room and food for a 2 week long stay. From there she went on a payment plan to pay the remaining 900. I don't want to seem too bootstrappy, but I don't think many realize just what a hospital will do to help you with financials. There are so many organizations to help with these things, but it can be hard to know what to look for, especially if you feel overwhelmed with incoming medical bills.

I agree. If there's anything I've learned on these boards, it's always call and negotiate a better rate and go on a payment plan. When DH lost his job, Children's waived all costs for some UC visits we had after the job loss, and remaining bills we had for DS from before DH lost his job. And Bethesda gave me an 85% discount for the ER when I had to go in for gallstones and insurance hadn't kicked in (change of status). They are very open to work with you so long as you don't try to outright ignore the bills.

I need some opinions and possibly talked down from being "that mom"
Daycare has a 4 week meal plan, but it doesn't seem like they are following the meals that they have listed. For example tody they had sloppy joes for lunch which is what they had listed for Tuesday and breakfast is all over the place too. Should I ask about the inconsistencies? Another thing, M has had chocolate milk with lunch the past 2 days, bit his sheets and menu only say milk. I picked him up at lunch yesterday and today he told me he had choc. milk with lunch. I asked him if he chose chocolate, he said no his teacher gave it to everyone. Am I being overbearing and being a PITA?

That's odd. I would assume plain milk would be the standard for meals, maybe chocolate milk for a snack, but thats pushing it. Mine does serve juice at snack time and I requested water only with a pedi note.

No, I don't see that as overbearing or being a pain. If they publish a schedule, I'd expect them to follow it.

They alternate b/w juice and water at snack times which is ok with me at 3yo. We don't usually do juice at home so 2-3x a week with snack doesn't bother me.

mominthemaking14 now I feel like a jerk parent. I just looked at the photos from school and my kid was sitting by herself while most of the other kids had a parent there

Don't worry I skipped this time but the parents at our school are definitely active.

@mrscatfarmer I'd say something A doesn't drink juice lol she hates it and her room doesn't get anything besides milk or water. I've become ok with being that mom.

The only thing I would say something about is the chocolate milk. DNW my kids drinking chocolate milk. As far as the meals being served on different days than the menu says, this doesn't bother me. I don't really care if he was supposed to get a banana on Monday but got it on Wednesday instead, the banana was coming either way. Now if they're serving junk, especially junk not on the menu, I'd be complaining. My kid doesn't need to be eating pop tarts or some crap like that.

I felt bad for and MH knew about it and could have totally gone since he takes a long lunch and they went to fucking chuys for lunch. He's on my shit list today, im so irritated with him. Probably bc I'm really starting to feel really big and uncomfortable--sorry for the rant.
There's no choc milk option at my kids school and no sloppy Joe's either. It's very healthy menu though. His old daycare was really unhealthy and after seeing the stuff they served for lunch, I was very specific about the menu. They gave him juice in the 1 yo room and yes I complained and said no more juice for him. I wouldn't complain about the menu being changed though- that does happen and doesn't bother me. They might have been out of ingredients. But I would complain about choc milk or the quality of the food or health. His old daycare also thought juice and goldfish was "snack". Well no.
