How old is LO?

How's it going? Getting through growth spurts okay? What do nights look like?

How old is LO? 10 weeks

How's it going? Getting through growth spurts okay? What do nights look like? Pretty good. The right side nipple pain has been decreasing as DS gets bigger and his latch on that side continues to improve, but unfortunately the most comfortable position for me to nurse him is still the position that causes the most soreness.

Growth spurts must be going ok because I haven't noticed any additional frustration during them.

Nights are getting better too. Still a bunch where we max out at 4 or 5 hours, but we've gotten a good number of 6 hour stretches lately and last night had one a little over 7 hours. Too bad he doesn't like to nap during the day.

If you're pumping, how's that going? When are you returning to work or do you SAH? Still not pumping too often. Mainly in the morning every few days to have some pumped bottles available. Just got myself an extra month off so I have more time before I need to start pumping more.

Questions/concerns/AW? DS still isn't gaining weight well. He dropped from 12% to 6% on the charts between his 1 and 2 month appts. We go Dec 6 for another weight check. He eats like a champ, definitely drains me, and isn't looking for more when he's done so no idea why he isn't gaining more quickly.

How's it going? Getting through growth spurts okay? What do nights look like? Things are going pretty well. I'm managing growth spurts by giving HL a bottle of pumped milk when I just need a break. Either H or I will feed her. One of the good things that came out of her being in the NICU is she can transfer between breast and bottle without an issue.

If you're pumping, how's that going? When are you returning to work or do you SAH? I'm pumping off an on. I Stay at Home, but keep very busy, so I like the option of being able to feed a bottle when I'm out if I want to. I switch between electric an manual pumping. I have the hands free pumping bra and for a while was spilling milk everywhere. Now I just stand or make sure I don't slouch when I'm using it. My posture is really bad

Questions/concerns/AW? When do you pump and for how long? I know the answer will differ for everyone. I had a really good stash in the fridge, but now I only have 5 or so bottles. Also how much would you store in the freezer. I don't have any milk in the freezer at all.

GTKY: What is your favorite tv show? I'll pick Grey's. I'm not sure I like the way the season is going right now though.

How's it going? Getting through growth spurts okay? What do nights look like? Things have been challenging, DD most likely has a cow's milk protein sensitivity. I was given some special formula to tide us over while my boby is getting rid of all the dairy, but I'm afraid that she'll start to prefer formula over breastmilk so I'm only giving max 2 bottles per day and pumping to maintain and hopefully give her that milk later when she's less sensitive. Here's to hoping!
Growth spurts are still a challenge but my milk seems to adjust within a day or so. Nights are fine now! She nurses at 9 and then wakes up between 4-5, and after that it's hit or miss. Sometimes she stays asleep till 7:30, sometimes she's up constantly after her feed.

If you're pumping, how's that going? When are you returning to work or do you SAH? I've been working since she was 6 weeks. Pumping has been bad. Every time I pump my breasts feel empty for an entire day and DD nurses like crap. She fusses, thrashes her head around, and complains as if my boobs are empty. She's gaining fine so I don't really get where the problem is :/

penguin129, if I'm at work I'll pump for every nursing session I miss and pump until I have 120ml. If I'm trying to stock up at home I pump after her last nursing session of the day so that I have time to refill

LadyNymeria, I hope they get to the bottom of the weight issue soon! Did they have any suggestions what it could be?

No suggestions yet, but it's been a "let's recheck him in X weeks" approach each time so far. I would imagine if he's dropped more next time they will probably start looking into it more.

He's not fussy like he's still hungry after eating and he has more than enough wet and dirty diapers so it's frustrating the scale isn't matching up.

I also don't quite understand how the charts are set up because it's not like he's not gaining. Here's his weight checks if you're curious or have any thoughts:

9/13/16 (birth) - 7lb 14.4oz
9/16/16 - 7lb 4.5oz (-9.9oz, 3 days)
9/27/16 - 7lb 10oz (+5.5oz, 11 days)
9/30/16 - 7lb 11.5oz (+1.5oz, 3 days)
10/4/16 - 8lb 1oz (+5.5oz, 4 days)
10/18/16 - 8lb 12oz (+11oz, 14 days)
11/7/16 - 9lb 15oz (+19oz, 20 days)
11/16/16 - 10lb 4.5oz (+5.5oz, 9 days)

10/18 was 12th percentile and 11/16 was down to the 6th

LadyNymeria, that just sounds like natural variation. I know it's stressful because 12% already seems small, but you probably wouldn't worry if he went from 50th to 44th. The average BF baby gains between 5 and 8 oz. a week for the first 4 months, which he's consistently tracked with. It just isn't exactly linear. So nothing to worry about!

WittyLittle, are you being sure to eat plenty and drink lots of water when you're pumping? When I was pumping, I needed to eat constantly (I couldn't be hungry) and drink A TON of water (like 150-200 oz.). Otherwise I'd notice a supply dip. Also, how long are you pumping for? The general guidelines is 15-20 minutes.

Thank you! I've been trying not to worry about it because he's a happy baby so clearly he's not starving! And he's definitely in that average weight gain range!

Going good. Not noticing growths spurts too much. Eating a bit more often the last few days which is resulting in a bit more gas and fussing. Up every 2.5-3.5 hrs at night. Usually quick feed and he goes right back down. Doesn't usually need a diaper change at night.

I've pumped a few times. I have 7.5 oz in the freezer. No real need for more. Not going back to work for a year and if I go out its only for quick errands.

Questions/concerns/AW? He pops off so much during a feed, it's annoying. I'm sure it's because he's trying to get a second letdown.

Lurking LadyNymeria that sounds extremely similar to ds.

He was born at 7lbs 13oz. Last check he was 13lb8oz. (5 month weight check due to slow weight gain) he's currently 8% while 97% height and 91% head circumference.

Same as you with consisten weight gain, plenty of wet diapers, and weighted feeds always showing he's taking in a good amount of oz.

No words of advice just commiseration

I definitely need to drink more by default :/ that's true! Im pumping about 20 mins, sometimes a bit longer if I havent got enough for one feed. I'm going to get myself a bottle to remind me to drink, hopefully that helps!

I was so good about drinking a lot of water in 3rd tri but can't seem to keep it up now. I definitely notice a difference in my supply if I have a few of bad water intake days in a row.

I'm noticing this too.
