Symptoms: Sore as usual and starting to have random contractions
Appointments this week: OB appt Thursday
Rants/Raves/Questions: I'm starting to feel just done at this point. I don't want to be at work for sure. I overdid it this weekend because I was feeling super restless and then I paid for it one night with constant contractions. Yesterday, we took it SUPER easy and I'm feeling a bit better. But now that I've started taking it easy, I'd like to just stay home in my pj's...
GTKY: Nope, pretty much everything I wanted to have happen or have as options are all standard protocol at my hospital. DH already knows I want as little medical intervention as possible, and my dr already seems to prefer that as well. Let's hope things go as planned!
I'm planning to ask my dr this week for an end date. I go back and forth thinking that this baby could be here any day or might take her sweet time. Looking at the calendar, I'm kind of panicking realizing how close to Christmas she could actually come. Let's hope not!
crimpgirl, I'm so sorry about your fall! I hope you and baby are doing ok!

Week/team/Fruit: 36w1d/boy/papaya
Symptoms: oh the muscles right below my boobs..the worst ever. He is kicking the crap out of my ribs and those muscles. I have lightening boob going on which is sooo comfortable. I don't sleep...hooray.
Appointments this week: 36 check-up with that "G" test...lol the swab. Sorry have no idea the other letters in that acronym. They will also check to see where I am..I have a feeling there is nothing going on in that department. Then next week weekly visits...hooray.
Rants/Raves/Questions: So my mattress sucks for pregnancy. My In laws bed that I hate sleeping on because it makes my body hurt not pregnant..was a dream. Its harder than our bed so I don't sink in as much and my snoogle is just more effective that way. But of course the next 4 weeks are on my bed. DD is sleeping not so well, she didn't even take a nap yesterday and then went down at regular time and woke up at 6am. I was hoping she would sleep in to catch up...not. So that is taking it's toll. DH is supposed to get on a plane and go to Germany today...we just found out that Luthansa airlines..he is flying on is possibly going on strike tomorrow or Wednesday. He is trying to decide if its a good idea to still go or possibly get stuck in Germany. I was like umm not a rocket science question...DON'T GO. I believe in signs and if this is some sign saying umm lil man might come early you need to be here. DON'T push it. We will see. I am trying to be supportive wife but I am also being like READ THE SIGNS.
GTKY: So I had a birth plan with my last, talked it out with my Doula and my Dr. However DD had another thing in mind. I was in labor for 72 hours with about 6 hours of sleep my Dr. was like I need to intervene, I don't see you having the energy to have her alone. I wasn't progressing fast at all. So broke water..that didn't work, 4 hours later Pitocin, and then 4 hours later here she came. I had an epidural that didn't take. SO I got my natural birth. lol..I won't be doing that again.
This time its nitrous Oxide, try this less pain than needed thing. I really haven't wrote out a plan like last time.
crimpgirl, have you fallen before? OR wait that was someone else. Girl take it easy! Your so close!
@kc295905, That would be nice if they will strip for you. My Dr. are like we don't do anything till your overdue...*side eye* thanks for nothing. I am hoping that my appt on Thursday is a good one filled with words like effaced 90% and dilated 3cm. HAHAHA probably not..but I can pray.

Winnifred, Well it wouldn't be out of this world if she did you are about 41-42 w at Christmas...which is not uncommon for babies to hold out. I hope that they give you a date to ease some of that stress. Cause that just doesn't help when your trying to relax. I am trying to just say things are moving along and that I will soon be at the end...3w6d sounds so LONG. I loath going to see my Dr and her be like...no movement yet..blah blah..
WineNChocolate, Uhhhh your DH needs to stay home - is he crazy? When was/is he supposed to return? Hoping things get moving on their own for you this time! That's a big concern of mine, I don't want to be induced at all. BUT if it was recommended then I'd be on board because I'm sure I'll be SO DONE at that point, lol. P.S. how was the black tie event?
WineNChocolate, bleh - I know! For some reason I had it in my head that I'd be induced by the 17th/18th since my dr said they don't let people go past 41 weeks. I think I took that too literally, though, lol. He probably meant 41w6d, not 41w0d...
Weeks/Team/Fruit: 36w3d/Pink/Papaya Symptoms: I get so effing hot at night. I am really close to turning on the ac at night. It totally dehydrates me too.
Appointments this week: Chiro and Acupuncture this week.
Rants/Raves/Questions: GBS was negative(yay!). Rant: MIL is throwing a fit that we won't be calling anyone when we go to the hospital(which is the lie we're telling her-my mom is coming to pet-sit). She wants to be waiting in the waiting room the whole time. My dad said we should use burner phones for the next month so no one knows where we really are and DH and I were like, that's not a bad idea, lol. DH just needs to turn off the find my friends for her.
GTKY: Did you actually walk through a birthing plan with your Dr, what is your birthing plan? Mommies that had them...how did that go? As planned? Yep, they have a generic form that they hand out to everyone that has some check-boxes and then that goes on file with the hospital. A lot of stuff that people would normally want, like delayed cord clamping and immediate skin to skin are common practice at my hospital so there wasn't a whole lot to go over. I liked that the check boxes were very cut and dry, "I plan on getting an epidural or using medication" "I will ask for an epidural or medication when I feel I want it" and "Do not offer me medications.'

LO's Age: She'll be a month old on Thursday! Slow down time!
Sleep: Up every 2-3 hours to nurse at night. She is starting to be awake more during the day, so we actually got a 4 hour stretch last night.
GTKY: I didn't write out my birth plan but I discussed how I wanted to labor with my OB frequently throughout my pregnancy. Unfortunately, due to my induction and needing to be on the group b strep antibiotics, I didn't get to do a lot of what I wanted.
Post by catherineoctober on Nov 28, 2016 10:59:43 GMT -5
Dropped my work laptop last week and now the batter falls out if I'm not careful so I'll have to write my post again. Ugh...Not like I have anything better to do though. :-)
Weeks/Team/Fruit: 37 and 4 days DONE just DONE/Pink/A skunk! LOL
Symptoms: Dizziness, SO SO emotional, Jane flips for every single NST - hoping she keeps it up and is head down today and stays there.
Appointments this week: Today last NST and Last Dr visit - Check into Hospital Wednesday evening to possibly deliver Thursday. So thrilled about this.
Rants/Raves/Questions: I've read a few of you not wanting to be induced. Can I ask why? I'm thrilled that I'm getting induced but I wonder if I'm missing something. Also, I've been crying a lot because we're getting closer to delivery and thoughts of delivering my first baby at 22 weeks after his heart stopped is all coming back and I just cry and cry. I know this is different and every time she moves it makes me realize how different it's going to be, but hormones are just not fair.
GTKY: I was laughed at when I mentioned doing a birthing plan with my friends so I don't talk to them about it. I talked with my dr and she just asked if I wanted drugs and I said Hell yes so we're on the same page. I had to have two epidurals with my first and he was only 5 oz. the first one only made my left leg numb so I told the guy - "if I was having a baby out of my left leg, we'd be in business, but since I'm not, lets try this again." the second one worked great - no pain at all after that.
catherineoctober, From what I have read, inductions have a higher incidence of c-sections or other interventions(pitocin, foreceps, etc) so most docs just want to let nature take its course. The longer baby bakes the better too, it allows all their little systems to be as ready as possible. Personally, I want baby to bake as long as possible(mostly for selfish reasons of not missing work) and hopefully to go into labor without any interventions. One of the meds they use at my hospital to get things going is the same stuff they give to help miscarriages get started and I got so sick with that, I would really like to avoid that if at all possible. But every situation and pregnancy is different. Things change week to week and if a doctor is recommending induction then they have(hopefully) a sound medical reason to do so that is in both the mom and baby's best interest.

Thanks! That makes sense. I was told that my hospital doesn't allow you to go past 38 weeks with high blood pressure. But they have given me/baby the shot to help her lungs develop and she's testing good at every NST. I'm sure it will all be fine.
catherineoctober, + to @cahistoryteacher's response. I'll also add that the more I've learned about the birth process, the more it has made me hope that things can happen on their own. I can't really explain why. Perhaps it has something to do with wanting to bring her into this world through my own body's efforts. I honestly don't really know. I also found being hooked up to machines and feeling out of control of the situation the last time I was in the hospital has really made me want to be as free as possible to make my own decisions and labor the way I want to.
Also - super excited that you'll be checking in this week to have that baby! Major ((HUGS)) to you, I know it must be so difficult to go through this process considering what happened last time. Be good to yourself. FX everything goes super smoothly and you'll be holding your little bundle soon!

I completely respect that. And hope you get that in your experience as much as possible. Thanks for the thoughts and good conversation!

WineNChocolate, GBS or group B strep....it's really not as bad as it sounds it'll get a whole lot more awkward during labor
Weeks/Team/Fruit: 37 weeks/pink/honeydew
Symptoms: i can't sleep, i am so sore, and i keep having contractions just long enough to get hopeful (they were 10 mins apt Sat night for 2 hrs) and then they peter out and go away completely
Appointments this week: NST tomorrow and Fri...hopefully they'll do a cervical check at one of them and feel her head...I really hope they don't make me wait until next Tues to find out if she's flipped back (after being head down since 24 weeks, she was sideways at last appt)
Rants/Raves/Questions: Rave- Group B Strep was negative! So, IF i get to have a vaginal birth, I won't have to fool with the antibiotics this time!!!
GTKY: Did you actually walk through a birthing plan with your Dr, what is your birthing plan? Mommies that had them...how did that go? As planned? I have a tentative plan in my head, but that's it. I went in with DD1 with the idea that I'd go as long as possible without the epi but that I would consider one if needed. I got it around 6cm due to being on pitocin and didn't regret it for a second, although I ended up pushing for 2 hrs and the 2nd hr was med free b/c the anesthesiologist was in surgery and couldn't turn it down so the nurses just turned it off and it wore off before DD1 was born. The plan is about the same this time IF she goes back head down. I would like to try without, but I won't feel bad if I decide to get the epi again.
catherineoctober other than the higher need for medical interventions with an induction, I just really want to experience the spontaneity of going into labor. I want to announce to MH, "omg my water broke!" Or "this is it!" FX my body cooperates.
That is a cool experience. A while back we had a rain and it was still warm enough to eat outside and I sat on our patio chair and a bunch of water dropped out of the cushion so i said to MH "my water broke!" He was terrified. It was so funny

Weeks/Team/Fruit: 37/blue/winter melon (?)
Symptoms: the usual stuff.
Appointments this week: Weekly appt on Wednesday. I wonder if they'll do another cervical check this time. They did last week (long and closed, frown) along with the GBS swab (BTW, GL with yours, WineNChocolate)
Rants/Raves/Questions:
GTKY: Did you actually walk through a birthing plan with your Dr, what is your birthing plan? Mommies that had them...how did that go? As planned? I don't care as long as I get my baby in the end.
IVF+ICSI March 2016 (6R/5M/5F - 3 embryos on ice) 4/7/16: first ever BFP! EDD: 12/17/16 DS Arrived via C-Section 12/19/16! FET #1 June 2019 - 1 embryo didn't survive thaw & the one that did didn't stick around. BFN FET #2 September 2019 - last embryo didn't survive thaw.

Weeks/Team/Fruit: 36 weeks +3/pink/papaya
Symptoms: lower back pain that seems different from my other lower back pain. Lots of BH.
Appointments this week: Had one today -- growth scan with my first BPP. Baby is in 42nd percentile (so they say) and passed BPP with flying colors.
Rants/Raves/Questions:
GTKY: Did you actually walk through a birthing plan with your Dr, what is your birthing plan? Mommies that had them...how did that go? As planned? Ha! After my birth with DS, my plan with this one is just to get through it. I'm planning to labor at home as much as possible with my hypnobirthing stuff, but may need an epidural depending on how things go. (DS was born sunny-side up so I had an epidural last time despite wanting an unmedicated birth.)
LOL, sorry crimpgirl! Was it icy? I've had shoes in the past that absolutely couldn't handle any ice, and put me on the ground multiple times before I figured it out. P.S. Sorry about having to make up your time! My work is also really unfair with PTO and I would have had to make it up or use a 1/2 day of my barely there PTO... so dumb. Hope you are feeling better ASAP (and also that your DH is treating you like a QUEEN).

catherineoctober, with my first, I didn't want an induction, but when I went in for my NST and it took them 10 minutes to even find a heartbeat and then his heart rate was lower than what it should have been, what I wanted quickly changed to "just get my baby out as quickly and safely as possible." Don't worry about what everyone else thinks of inductions. Trust your doctor who knows your history and sees what is going on with you and your baby. I'm not going to lie, my induction was a horrible experience since it never took, but some people have inductions and love them. Just trust the process, whatever it winds up being.
And hugs, I can't imagine the stress you're feeling when you think about your loss. I've never been in your shoes, so I can't even begin to understand your emotions right now, but I would assume that everything you're feeling is completely normal.
However, if after the birth your feelings are still....all over the place I guess, don't hesitate to talk to your doctor about the possibility of suffering from Postpartum Depression or Postpartum Anxiety. Your doctor can get you the help you need to deal with those feelings post birth. It's always better to be safe and see someone than to just let those emotions spiral.

Well..it does not appear she is head down yet (they did a cervical check, not an actual ultrasound). The plan as of now is to give her until 39 weeks to flip on her own and then they'll admit me and try a version and induce or move to c-section if the version is not successful...so 2 more weeks at most!!!
crimpgirl sorry about the fall! so scary! hope all was good with the little guy. @kc295905 I really hope you get your spontaneous labor! Winnifred sorry you’re feeling over it. you’re almost there! WineNChocolate good luck at your appointment! @cahistoryteacher I am so hot at night too. It’s gotten cold at night here recently so H has been turning on the heat and in the middle of the night I wake up and feel like I’m in hell. I was always a cold person pre-preg so this is super weird for me. mrsp121308 wow, a month already! glad you are sleeping a little more! catherineoctober best of luck this week! tbonequeen13 sorry your kiddo is still transverse. have you tried the spinning babies stuff? lastnamewithheld good luck at your appt tomorrow! legalbeagle yay for good BPP results! are you doing Hypnobabies? W sorry about the back pain - hope it lets up for you.
Weeks/Team/Fruit: 36+3/pink
Symptoms: The biggest legs and feet in the world. Seriously, they are gross. My cankles have rolls. H’s company’s holiday party is coming up and I have to wear something that fully covers my legs and feet. Other than that, just a lot of bladder trampoline from the little one. Half the time I think I have to pee I actually don’t, it’s just her pushing on my bladder.
Appointments this week: weekly on Thursday
Rants/Raves/Questions: So as of last week, kid is still breech. She has been in the same position for my entire pregnancy. I have tried a couple chiro appointments with a guy who specializes in breech babies and I’ve also tried acupuncture, spinning babies, yoga. On Thursday if she’s still breech we are going to put a C-sec date on the books, so I could have a kid in less than 3 weeks. Which is… insane.
GTKY: Did you actually walk through a birthing plan with your Dr, what is your birthing plan? Mommies that had them...how did that go? As planned? I think as a PAIF mom, and also since this kid has been breech for so long, I have not had my heart set on any sort of birth plan and have just tried to be open minded and educated about my options. I’m still doing Hypnobabies in case she flips and I am allowed to try for a natural birth, but with a likely c-section, I just want her and me to be healthy at the end of the day. I have been looking more into c-section birth plan requests, like type of drugs used and getting skin to skin and nursing time after surgery.
Post by legalbeagle on Nov 30, 2016 9:42:45 GMT -5
emilie, I did a hypnobirthing course last time with DS. So mostly just reading the hypnobirthing book again and practicing some of the breathing techniques. I prepared a lot more last time, but I'm still feeling pretty good!
Post by tbonequeen13 on Nov 30, 2016 12:29:24 GMT -5
emilie, yes...the same stuff that worked with DD 1 when she did the same thing at 37 weeks. The problem is this time I have high fluid levels (cut off for too high is 25, mine was 23 last check) so they think until I get towards the end and fluid levels go down, she won't get locked in
Weeks/Team/Fruit: 37/PINK/Baby is the size of a baby.
Symptoms: Braxton Hicks/Contractions. Insomnia. A lot of pressure when I stand or walk.
Appointments this week: 37 week appointment today! My cervix was "really soft" last time so I'm excited to see if I'm dilated/effaced at all.
Rants/Raves/Questions: Get. This. Baby. OUT.
GTKY: Did you actually walk through a birthing plan with your Dr, what is your birthing plan? Mommies that had them...how did that go? As planned? I don't really have a birthing plan this time. I'm scheduled for a c-section at 39 weeks. If I go early, great. They will monitor everything to make sure I don't have complications from my previous c-section and let the chips fall where they may.
I had a great birth plan last time that I was way too hung up on, and then everything went to shit. I think being hung up on my birth plan contributed to a lot of the guilt and disappointment I felt after, when instead I should have been happy that DS and I lived through it.
This time I'm going in with the mindset of whatever happens happens. As long as my daughter is safe and healthy, that's all I can ask for.
I am however asking the midwife today what the plan is for releasing us. Last time I was in the hospital for nearly a week. I would prefer a shorter stay this time around.
Symptoms: Lots of braxton hicks; A fair amount of mucus-y cervical discharge, but not bloody. Not sleeping well at all
Appointments this week: Had my 38 week appointment yesterday. The doctor said they will sometimes check the cervix at 38 weeks, but that if I haven't been having regular contractions or bloody discharge, she didn't really recommended it - she said that there wasn't really much point without the other "symptoms" as I could be not dilated at all and go into full labor in an hour, or I could be 3 cm and still be waiting for baby on his due date in 2 weeks. I think they'll check next week either way though.
Rants/Raves/Questions: Definitely ready to meet this baby boy, though still with occasional moments of thinking "OMG, what did we do? They are going to hand us this baby, and then we have to take him home and take care of him all by ourselves!" The doctor did say at my appointment that most babies are born between 38 and 40 weeks, so that more likely than not, baby should come in the next 2 weeks. Come soon, baby!
GTKY: Did you actually walk through a birthing plan with your Dr, what is your birthing plan? Mommies that had them...how did that go? As planned? I don't have a super nailed down / specific birth plan. I'd like to see how I do without an epidural, but if I end up needing one, it won't be the end of the world. I'll be interested to see how the pain compares to my kidney stone in August, since I've heard that it can be similar. I want to do skin to skin and try breastfeeding pretty soon after birth, but if I remember correctly from our hospital tour, that is kind of the standard operating procedure there. DH and I have agreed that we won't have visitors (i.e. grandparents) until we are moved to the mother/baby floor from the labor/deliver/recovery room, which usually is about an hour or two after birth, though if it is the middle of the night, they can wait until morning.
Symptoms: Insomnia, sore and achy, the usual complaints this late in the game.
Appointments this week: Earlier today. Doc seems confident that she's stayin gput for now.
Rants/Raves/Questions: Nothing really. Just going crazy becasue I can't plan around this birth.
GTKY: Did you actually walk through a birthing plan with your Dr, what is your birthing plan? We've talked about general stuff like delayed cord clamping, rooming in, no episiotomy, etc. I wrote up a plan, but most of it is standard procedure, and really, as long as the baby is healthy I'm okay. I know things can happen. The overall goal is healthy mom, healthy baby.
