How is LO doing with eating? Does LO like fruits and veggies? What's their favorite way to consume all the healthy foods?
LO used to be such a great eater. But for whatever reason he's not so much anymore!! He no longer likes foods he used to like. I have no clue why. DS1 was never picky and still isn't, so I have a hard time accepting that kids can be selective. It's so frustrating!
I also just feel like I'm doing a horrible job and making food exciting for the kids.
DS eats basically all the fruits. Veggies are a little more hit or miss. He loves broccoli, carrots, and corn. Those are always a sure thing.
DH juices almost every day (carrot, spinach, kale, cucumber, apple, orange, tomato and whatever else we have to throw in) DS loves this "dada juice". He drinks about 2-4 oz of this a day, so I figure he is getting a big dose of nutrition there.
DS has recently decided he hates green peppers and he will pick them out, but I definately wouldnt say he is picky. But I also think he is having a growth spurt because he has been eating like a hog lately. I am not always the best at getting a lot of fruit and veggie variety, but I am pretty satisfied with his diet overall. He also still nurses, so that honestly gives me quite a bit of peace of mind because I know he gets a lot of nutrients that way.
DS is definitely pickier than he used to be. I have trouble mostly with veggies. He like corn & carrots that is pretty much it. My pediatrician recommended Deceptively Delicious by Jessica Seinfeld for incorporating more veggies. To be honest I bought the book skimmed through it but have yet to make a recipe. Basically it is about sneaking purees into foods they will eat.

C has always been a good eater. She does better with veggies than fruits, strangely. Green beans and broccoli are her faves. She'll always eat raspberries and blueberries... and would live off of applesauce pouches if we'd let her.
Does anyone have trouble getting fluids into their kids?? C is having SERIOUS poop issues and we need to be giving her 2 full doses of miralax a day, but I can't get her to drink more than an ounce of anything and we need her to drink 16 oz total just to get the miralax into her... idk what to do. Sorry to hijack!

DD2 has always been hit or miss on eating anything but carbs. I follow Ellyn Satter's division of responsibilities in feeding so I don't stress about it. She eats what she eats at meals of what's offered. She won't go hungry. She likes bell peppers, tomatoes, green beans, corn, peas, and all fruit. Meat is pretty hit or miss. But she will gobble eggs and cheese, so she gets plenty of protein.
She loves fluids, but DD1 does not annapunkalunka. Does your DD like juice? My pedi had us give DD1 a drink of 2 oz. prune juice, 2 oz. apple juice, and 2 oz. water daily to help with toddler withholding and tummy troubles. I honestly think DD1 did better on it just because getting juice made her drink more.
DS is sort of a special snowflake, but from 15 months to 25 months he would only eat fruit and bread/bread-like food (pancakes, muffins), and he continued to nurse. No veggies, meat, or dairy. It was a nightmare. He lost weight, got referred to a GI, did some feeding therapy. Nothing helped at all, but all the professionals said not to force him to eat things. Then suddenly at 25 months he was open to new foods, started eating much better all on his own, and is happily self weaning! .... All that to say that they can definitely have strong ideas and preferences and cut out foods they used to like. But for most toddlers it really is just a phase.

My kid loves fruit and most veggies. We really got lucky with him, he's a great eater and only has a few items he doesn't like. At lunch every day he gets the peas/carrots/green bean medley along with apples and usually another fruit. (And a protein). At dinner he gets whatever veggie we had: cucumber if we had salad, or green beans, broccoli, peas. He gets another fruit serving for dessert.
He loves ice water and cow milk. He drinks so much that he's peeing through his overnight diapers again.
E loves all fruit and some veggies. Peas are his favorite, beans, corn and tomatoes (which I guess is technically a fruit). Honestly I give him the all-veggie pouches and sometimes even purée baby food containers of veggies and he eats it all up! Not sure if it's a texture thing or what- he has no problem with other textures and generally is not a picky eater. I also have found noodles that are made with spinach purée and provide a full serving of veggies that he really likes. I figure as long as he gets his veggies one way or another it's nbd.

I must be the only one whose child eats carbs all day long. I realize this is my fault. She could eat Chik-filet all day long. She loves chicken, salmon, cheese, eggs, and yogurt. She eats veggie pouches and pretty much any fruit. Aside from the pouches, she loves corn, peas, and carrots. She definitely has gotten pickier. She also loves crap food like Mac and cheese and fries. I don't worry. She eats tons of protein and fruit, so I'm not too worried. I figure she is self-regulating. I have heard not to force her because it can cause some serious eating disorder issues, and my pedi doesn't seem concerned.
I'm checking in on this board for the first time in a while so first of all, hi everyone!
Funny I came across this post because DH and I were just discussing at dinner were probably going to be causing eating disorder tendencies in our kid. We've taken up bribing her. She's gotten so picky she'll only willingly eat cheese, fruit snacks, fruit bars and granola bars/cereal. Soooo. We bribe her with sweet things to get her to eat her dinners. Tonight was "two more pieces of pork and 3 more cubes of sweet potato and you can have this piece of chocolate". She gets next to zero sweet things otherwise so it's very appealing to her and works amazingly. I feel bad forcing her to eat basically but if we don't, before bed she'll ask for cheese, then bread, then everything else I mentioned that she loves. She gets one of all of those things as snacks throughout the day so we aren't preventing her from having them. But one cheese stick a day is plenty for a 2 year old IMO. Here's to hoping we're not royally screwing her up!

My DD eats teddy grahams, grapes, bananas, oranges, peanut butter, all the cheese, apples, chicken strips, fries, and yogurt. Anything else involves bribing and trickery. I figure as long as she is drinking milk, she is fine. She self regulates.
R. will eat any fruit, bread, cheese, yogurt, etc. Proteins and veggies are harder, but he will always eat scrambled eggs in a tortilla, so that's a common go-to. He also likes fish sticks dipped in yogurt and chicken fingers dipped in honey. He sometimes eats nuts and likes peanut butter.
He eats veggies in a pouch, mostly, but just recently started eating whole peas and cooked carrots (when I let him eat them with kiddie chopsticks). He will eat baby carrots occasionally. I am working on offering more veggies so he gets used to the idea.
Getting him to eat peas happened by sheer accident, through the following steps:
- We checked out a book from the library that featured signs for foods, as a group of animals made a veggie stew together. - One of the signs was for peas, and he really liked practicing that one. - A few nights later, I had peas in a pot pie, so gave him a few ... and we signed "peas" together. - He loves eating with kiddie chopsticks, so I pulled those out to let him eat the peas.
