You can try to find a maternity coat used. What about a poncho, cape, or wrap style coat? I didn't have to find a full blown winter coat but I figured I'd just leave a regular coat unzipped and try to stay indoors if we had a cold snap

I just bought everything huge. I found a zip up sweatshirt hoodie at Sam's for $20 in a 2X. I actually still wear it because it's comfy. All my shirts were 2X... but I like looser, baggy stuff. At the end... nothing was loose or baggy. LOL.
Don't worry what size the tag says. Buy what feels comfortable.

My mom gave me an old jacket of hers. It's like sweatshirt material so it's not going to be the warmest. But it's very long and has a ton of stretch to it. It was a couple sizes big on me to begin with so I'm hoping I can make it most of the winter. I just won't be the warmest. It will be a winter of warming up the car before I get in it. I just don't want to have to buy a new coat!
My next attempt at winter weather gear: www.walmart.com/ip/51235987 in L or XL (ordered both) Then layer a wool wrap that I already have on top and wear a sweater underneath (although that means I need to get a sweater or two). I hope that will be warm enough and versatile enough. If not, I may just go find a giant men's coat. This is the one time that I'm cursing women's clothing actually being form-fitting.
schmella The used maternity coat market here sucks. There were two large jackets and that's it. I'm currently using a wool wrap, but I need more warmth and arm mobility to tote kids and their luggage. Hence, wrap coat with sleeves.
lindy04aggie I'm not worried about the size on the tag. Mostly about making sure my hands stick out the ends of the sleeves :-P
callmeKD I may look at that if my next solution doesn't work.
mustloveerica I thought about stealing from my mom or my dad's old stuff. He wore very large clothes. Most of it ends up too short, though. Kinda weird that it can be so big and yet the bottom of my belly gets cold.
river That's kind of funny that your friend is pregnant again just in time that you can't borrow her stuff. Sorry you lost out on the maternity coat though.
I was always super hot while pregnant. DD1 was born in January and I just wore my regular coat unzipped/unbuttoned - and would add scarf, hat and gloves if I would be outside for a longer period of time.

I was going to ask about this- mine were born in October, so it wasn't very cold yet, but I was so hot all the time that I was still wearing skirts and capris

I'm not as cold as normal, but I'm not overheating generally either.
My twins were born in February and I had one of those epic bellies at the end. I left my coat open as I outgrew it and made sure I was wearing warm gloves and a scarf. I kept a fleece blanket in the car that I would drape over my belly anytime I was in the car if it was really freezing outside. It probably looked ridiculous, but then again, what doesn't look ridiculous when you're that close to the end of a twin pregnancy, lol!
