FTM question....at what point should I try to do things with the babies? Like, books, music, activities? At this point I'm in survival mode and just trying to feed, change and get them to sleep. I'm doing nothing "fun" for them.

They can probably do some tummy time right now, but that's it. Hazel gets read to as we read to the older girls, but I'm not intentionally doing any activities for her.

Yes. Tummy time is on our agenda today. I forgot about that.

requiressnacks, Hey woman! There you are! So at this point a swing that has a mobile on top or toys hanging is good enough. you can try tummy time, but its still a lil early. Talking and interacting with them is the best bet getting them to come around. Soft play with a stuffed animal they can feel in their fingers. Music they can react to as well so some fun nursery songs.
It is Wednesday by the way and I wish I could have coffee but it just gives me the worst heartburn!!
requiressnacks, Are you getting ready for Christmas? Any plans on guests?

Thanks! I'll dig out a couple little toys from the nursery.
I am hosting a cookie swap with my girlfriends next weekend and I'm excited for that! It's our 8th annual and it gets pretty competitive.
**Loss mentioned**
I had to cancel last year's swap because we found out that we had lost our baby. It's amazing how much has changed in a year.
**end**
Also, I'm hosting Christmas Day. I think we are going to do all appetizers from Costco. And lots of booze.
requiressnacks, I was going to say when you get out of survival mode and things start to normalize/they start to get on a schedule. Then I remembered that you have twins so I don't know if you ever get out of survival mode, lol. One of my friends is trying to potty train her twins right now and it's hysterical...for me as a bystander.
Go ahead and start tummy time. Reading at ANY age is good. When you take them on walks, point out things like the grass, trees, birds. They don't understand yet, but eventually their mind will start to absorb what you're saying
I made myself a bagel, cheese, salsa and fried egg sandwich for breakfast. It was amazing and I want more.
DS is still battling a cough. His pedi had us start breathing treatments for him again, so he needs to do those every four hours. So we were up at 12 and 4 doing those. He was still asleep when I left for work (DH is off right now), so I guess his body is trying to fight off whatever he has. He rarely sleeps past 7 and I left around 8. I just hope he's better by the weekend.
We have our registry completion coupon so we need to go do that Saturday.
Also, I've listened to the Moana soundtrack more times than I care to admit over the last few days. Those of you with older kids/toddlers, take them to see it! The guy who wrote Hamilton did the music for Moana and it's amazing. DS kept dancing in his seat.
The top of my belly is achy and sore from stretching. I could really only sleep in one position last night to get it to feel less stretched which of course means my hip is killing me this morning. I'm glad we're halfway through the week!
requiressnacks, is it weird to say that you're my hero right now? You're handling TWO babies on your own and making plans for hosting holiday events?! I'm sure you're having lots of times where you feel super overwhelmed and stressed, but I hope you realize that you are doing something that is SO HARD that just getting through day by day is an incredible accomplishment - and you should be super proud!!
Also, totally get you on the feels about last holiday season. I was so down in the dumps last year, wondering if we should just give up TTC and not being sure how I could move on and accept being childless. And now look at us! CRAZY!!
@cahistoryteacher, sorry for the aches and pains, lady!
It's hump day, I'm happy to be getting through another day. I need a serious attitude adjustment over here. I feel great, baby is doing great, pregnant days are limited, etc.
Also, I picked up some coconut oil this weekend and I absolutely love it. I've been using it on my stomach and I'm obsessed with the way it smells/feels. It does make me want to eat 2 dozen Mounds bars, though, that's for sure.

kaydee0402, oooh I love me some Hamilton so I definitely need to get DS on to Moana. We took him to see Trolls this past weekend because I didn't want to deal with Moana crowds -- I thought it was pretty cute!
requiressnacks, are the twins on the same schedule yet? My friends who have twins had someone come help to put them on the same feeding/sleeping schedule -- basically if one baby wakes up to feed then they wake the other one up -- and that has seemed to help them a lot. I really can't believe you have two babies and are on your own. You are a rockstar!
requiressnacks what Winnifred said. I didn't leave the house for weeks with DS. I def didn't host anything. you are my hero.
You and Winnifred are too sweet. Oddly enough, hosting things and carrying on with regular life helps to make me feel somewhat normal. I definitely don't have PPD, but I'm battling this weird sense of "is this how I thought it would be?" that I'm dealing with. Not sure if that makes sense.
This is the time/place for bump/baby pics, too, right? Don't mind me, I'll just barge in with my weekly pic, anyway. A coworker commented on my bump this morning and wondered if it had dropped. This has been on my mind a lot lately but I think it's still riding high...

requiressnacks, totally get those feelings. I remember feeling a bit like "What have I done to my lovely life?" post-DS even though I loved him (and love him) very much. And there is a lot of the same thing over and over again and especially if you are used to being out and about it is hard to get used to making sure you are home for naps, have they eaten enough, when was the last time they pooped, etc.

@cahistoryteacher, I have been battling those pains for the past 3 weeks. MY sleep is hell because of it..it hurts a lot. I have to just try and take a Tylenol before bed and hope for the best!
I have not seen Moana but it looks super cute!! I do want to see it.
Winnifred, My grandmother called me yesterday and was like...oh buddy we are riding low aren't we.
*yawn* I'm so tired this morning. I couldn't get comfortable last night, and I had to get up like 3 times to pee. For some reason FI stayed up all night, and woke me up for sex when he came to bed right before the sunrise. Really dude? Now he's sleeping while I'm up with the girls. Jokes on him though, because I have to leave soon to handle something at the courthouse, so he's going to have to get up anyway. And DD1 is sick for the 4th time in 2 months. Anyone know at what point I should take her to the doctor? They seem like normal colds, but they've been back-to-back. In the meantime it's going to be constant hand washing, lysol spray, and hand sanitizer because I do not want anyone else to get sick before DS1 comes!

Dear Hazel, My boobs would really appreciate you not freaking out that I put you down. I like to eat my food hot on occasion and I don't like that resulting in my soaking shirt. #adventuresinbreastfeeding
Sounds like most of us aren't sleeping for one reason or another. This baby is still up in my ribs, making pretty much everything uncomfortable. Thankfully I'm working from home tomorrow becuase I have a doctor appointment, dentist appointment and hair appointment all in one day (why did I do that to myself!?).
I'm just hoping this baby holds out for another week, becuase we have some fun work stuff that I don't want to miss. We'll see what the doctor has to say tomorrow morning.
Guys - I did my toe nails last night!! Dh came in the bathroom and hesitated before asking if I needed help. I told him NO, I can still do this!!! Lol.
They don't look great, but pretty good from far away! I think I'm the only lady on the planet who hates pedicures...
That's all, just wanted to share how proud I am, lol. Here's to hoping they can wait to be redone until after baby comes!
